Tough day
Stonecreek is a very challenging layout with some outstanding holes. The conditions were not good. Several tees were closed for repair, crabgrass was on almost all tee boxes, greens were rough from aeration and they were still wet from not being cut.
I will return but not until the weather cools and the course can be worked on and recover from the summer heat.
Gorgeous!
Considering that it is the height of summer in Phoenix, they have maintained some of the most scenic holes I've played. Only rivaled by Oak Creek GC for beauty, in my humble opinion.
Balm for the weary soul & I'd play it again and again just for this reason alone!
Course in very good condition
The course was in very good condition considering the extreme summer heat. The tee boxes and greens are very nice. Approach shots held the greens nicely. The bunkers are raked and in decent condition. Some are just a little crusty due to watering. The fairways are in good shape too with some slightly bare spots. Overall, the course is maintained and well worth the money . The staff are super nice. With a noon tee time, the round was finished in under 3 hours..
Slow and sluggish
Tee time was 8:04 and the starter never called us to the tee, Might have been asleep. There were singles, foursomes ,threesomes mingled out on the course. No management what so ever. Beers are ridiculous at $5 for domestic beer.
Never playing there again. I will cancel my arcis acct as soon as possible.
Terrible program. Stay away and go somewhere else.
Good Ole' StoneCreek !
Well BIG THANKS 2 John out front for a "hospitality quotient" well above what 113* could/should muster -Kuddos. So the greens need another cut after bein' punched a bit ago BUT play well for the price ! Bunkering Uuuuggh, Poor, No Consistency at all. It has PLENTY of Play due location N has plenty 0' character to itself so I continue 2enjoy that course -B Well.
Good summer value, but minimal course supervision
Course in decent shape for summer and the heat. Checking went well. Main concern was lack of getting groups started on correct hole. Golfers were deciding on their own to start on 10 if 1 was busy. They essentially were jumping in front of golfers finishing hinge front nine which caused large backups on the back nine. So slow jumped 4 holes to finish. Explain to front desk afterwards but basically just acknowledged that it happens.
Nice course but needs some work!
Quite a few bare spots on fairways and some of the greens need work as well. Course was recently mowed but lots of thick grass left lying around.
Flags are black and very difficult to see and get a laser reading for distance. Why not a White or Red Flag?? Sand traps are very hard and many have small stones. Need work.
Worth playing but at a low rate!
Course Conditions
Course was in really rough shape. Greens were bumpy and rarely got the ball to roll smoothly. Fairways are in desperate need of TLC!
Terrible
First off, there was no notification greens were being punched, yet they were. Secondly there was standing water everywhere. Muddy conditions. I realize you have to water but there seemed no reason to have every fairway wet and so many balls plugging. Third, the course is littered with trash. Tee boxes are not maintained and there are messes everywhere. Garbage and waste is everywhere along tree lined fairways. No sign of a ranger at all. For all the other good courses in the area, I won't waste my time here. The only good thing was that through a golfnow promotion, it didn't cost me anything.
Well worth it
Very well maintained course. It was challenging at times for the more experienced golfer in our group but not too daunting for us less experienced. Pace of play was somewhat slow but overall a good experience.
Good track for a rusty golfer
Staff was great. They let me change my tee time cuz of a sore back. Front nine seems like a friendly muni track but the back gets more interesting and harder. Some issues with unplayable bunkers but overall I had a very pleasant experience.
