Management Absent
Sadly, a great day was impaired by poor course management. The stacking was oversold and the ranger failed to manage the pace of play extending a full round to nearly 6 hours. Easily fixable by being more engaged.
Tricky course. Challenging but fun.
Great course if you’re renting clubs. Clubs were quality calaway and very complete set. Staff is superb. Try the smoked wings!!
Pro shop staff needs an attitude adjustment
I reserved through golf now for 12:48 two days prior. It showed on their sheet at 12:57. The short dark haired guy in the pro shop said, “it was my problem and take it up with Golf Now”. He really had a sour attitude and was not grateful for my business.
The starter, who moved to AZ from NJ was friendly and seems to love his job. He almost made up for the jerk in the pro shop. The Marshalls were very friendly and helpful. The greenside bunkers need sand.
Staff unfriendly
The course itself is in rough shape overall, but pretty much met expectations for the price. We had an early morning tee time and teed off on the back nine. We were the first ones out and there was nobody behind us the entire time. What I didn’t appreciate at all were the groundskeepers racing in front of us for the first 5 holes to do their work. I understand needing to keep the grounds nice, but why not just let us play through instead of racing to the greens, only to have us on top of you 2 minutes later? I’ve been playing golf for 30 years and have never had this experience.
We finished the round and headed to the clubhouse for breakfast. The staff there were just as impatient as on the course. It was to the point of being rude, and again, the place was deserted.
Idk, overall a disappointing experience and unlikely worthy of another try
Good for the price in March
Most courses are overpriced in March. The the price this was a good value.
Thank you for your 4-star review!
Scary course
After hole #8 there's a walking trail that actually goes onto the course. Dozens of people walking, walking dogs or pushing strollers. I asked a few if they were aware of the danger of walking on a golf course. Some said they've seen people hit. One said "lots of people have dogs". I guess that makes it okay??
This course is a safety hazard. I just don't want anyone bleeding on my ball.
They have a nine and dine that we were told dropped players on hole 10 slowing down play for the golfers making the turn.
We contemplated staying at the Embassy Suites so we could play the course when we weren't at spring training games. Not gonna happen now that we won't be playing the course again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
First and foremost, safety is extremely important to us, and we take any situation involving potential risk on the course very seriously. We are aware of the walking path in that area, and while it is outside of our control as a shared public space, we continuously work to improve awareness and signage to help educate both golfers and pedestrians about staying clear of playing areas. Your comments are taken seriously, and we will review additional ways to reinforce safety and communication in that location.
Regarding your comments on pace of play and the Nine & Dine format, our goal is always to create a smooth and enjoyable experience for all golfers. We recognize how different programs can impact flow, and we actively manage tee sheet spacing and Player Assistant oversight to help maintain pace throughout the day.
I’m also sorry to hear that your experience has impacted your decision to return. That is certainly not the outcome we want for any of our guests. Your feedback is valuable, and we will use it to continue evaluating both our operations and communication efforts.
Thank you again for sharing your feedback.
Lots of hills!
Challenging course that was in real good shape. The greens were fast. Friendly cart girl, check in man and cart guy were great!
Thank you for the great feedback we really appreciate it!
We’re glad you enjoyed the challenge of the course and that the conditions and green speeds stood out. It’s also great to hear our cart staff, check-in team, and beverage service made such a positive impression. I’ll be sure to share your comments with the team.
Thanks again for playing Stonecreek, and we look forward to seeing you back out again soon!
Thank you for the 3-star review. We hope to see you back at the course soon!
Dry as rock
Starting out, over half the water stations had no water. But that more or less matched the course. Dry, hard pan most places.
Greens were pock-marked excessively and dry, as well.
Will not play this course again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations.
The water stations should absolutely be stocked, especially given the importance of staying hydrated while playing in Arizona. I will address this with our team so we can ensure they are being checked and refilled more consistently throughout the day.
Regarding the greens and course conditions, we do our best to maintain healthy playing surfaces, but excessive ball marks can unfortunately impact the quality of the greens. Our maintenance team and our Player Assistants help repair ball marks as they circulate the course, while also encouraging players to fix their own.
We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, as feedback like this helps us improve the overall experience. We hope that you will give us another chance in the future!
Wonderful links-type course in the middle of town
We played a late tee time ( 2:18) on a Wednesday and finished 18 just before it got too dark to see the ball! ( around 6:45). Slow play due to some foursomes a couple holes ahead. I wish there had been a Marshall to speed them up. The course is great- a real hidden treasure just 10 minutes from our house.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we’re glad to hear you enjoy the course and consider it a hidden treasure so close to home.
It’s great to know you appreciate the layout and were able to get your full round in before dark. We recently put in to effect a pace of play of 4 hours and 23 minutes with that said, I’m sorry to hear the pace slowed down later in the round. Our Player Assistant team is out on the course helping manage pace, especially when the tee sheet is full, and we will certainly continue focusing on maintaining consistent visibility to help keep groups moving.
We appreciate the kind comments about the course and are happy to have you as a local player. We look forward to seeing you back out at Stonecreek again soon.
Lots of character!
The course was super fun. It has a lot of character and each hole has a personality of its own. Whether it's dry creeks, water, doglegs, or undulating fairways, it will make you think about each shot. Starter was a bit unfriendly and I heard someone else mention that he was in a bad mood. However, the cart guys were super nice.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the course and its layout. Stonecreek does have a lot of character, and it’s great to know the variety of holes and shot options made the round fun and engaging.
I’m also happy to hear our cart staff made a positive impression and took good care of you. At the same time, I’m sorry to hear that your interaction with the starter didn’t reflect the same level of friendliness. That’s not the experience we want guests to have when beginning their round, and I will be addressing that with our team.
We appreciate you playing at Stonecreek and hope to see you back out again soon.
Enjoyable round
First time playing this course and I was concerned about all of the reviews saying slow play. We played a Monday at 1pm and saw no one in front or behind us the entire round. Course was in pretty good shape, but lots of unrepaired ball marks and very little sand in most of the traps. Also lots of garbage in the ditch that runs the length of the course. Layout was mostly fair but there are a few tight, tricky holes. Overall a good course and would play here again.
Thank you for giving Stonecreek a try and for sharing your experience.
We’re glad to hear your round moved at a great pace and that you enjoyed the overall layout. Mondays in the afternoon can be a great time to play, and it’s nice to hear you were able to enjoy the course without delays.
We also appreciate the constructive feedback. Unrepaired ball marks are something we’re actively addressing by encouraging players to repair marks and having our Player Assistant team help maintain greens as they move around the course. Regarding the bunkers, our maintenance team continues to monitor sand levels to improve consistency. The creek/ditch areas are also part of an ongoing cleanup and improvement plan aimed at removing debris and improving the overall presentation and sight lines throughout the property.
Thank you again for the thoughtful review, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another round soon.
Thank you for your 4-star review. We look forward to seeing you out again soon!
Thank you for the 4-star review. We hope to see you out at Stonecreek again soon.
Thank you for the 5-star review. We hope to see you back out here soon!
Slow pace of play
Would not recommend. 3 hours for 9 holes, no Marshalls to keep things moving.
Thank you for your feedback. I sincerely apologize for the pace of play and is not the standard we expect or want for our guests.
We understand how frustrating that can be, especially when there is not visible presence on the course helping manage flow. Please know this concern is being taken seriously. We have had a meeting directly with our Player Assistant team to address on-course visibility, proactive pace management, and better communication between the tee and the golf course. Our expectation moving forward is that our team is consistently present, engaged, and helping groups maintain appropriate pace.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we are committed to making the necessary adjustments to improve the experience. We hope that you will come back out and see us again soon!
Golf at Stone Creek
I was greeted in a very friendly manner by the guys at the golf cart pick up. Very accommodating. Plenty of place to putt but small area to hit on the range and we had to wait for a while for an open spot. Our other playing partners did not get to finish their small bucket before we played and we arrived 45+ minutes before our tee time. Very friendly and professional starter. Course conditions were much better on the front nine. The back nine was not so good. Some of the tees on the back nine from the gold tees were very beat up and some tee boxes looked like the grass had not been cut in a while. Overall, the price for 18 holes was favorable and worthwhile because of GolfNow pricing. They do have a nice clubhouse facility.
Thank you for the detailed feedback as we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
I’m glad to hear our cart staff and starter made a strong first impression. Friendly, accommodating service is something we emphasize daily, so it’s great to know that stood out.
I also appreciate your honest comments about the practice range and back nine conditions. We understand how frustrating it can be to wait for a hitting spot, especially when arriving early, and we are actively evaluating ways to improve flow and access during peak times. Regarding the gold tee boxes and mowing consistency on the back nine, that feedback has been shared directly with our agronomy team. We are working through a focused plan to improve tee conditions and ensure a more consistent experience from the first hole to the eighteenth.
We’re pleased you found value in your round and enjoyed the clubhouse facilities. Our goal is to continue improving both the course and overall experience so that the value extends well beyond just the price point.
We hope to welcome you back again soon and show continued progress.
Don’t waste your money.
This is one course in the Phoenix area. I will not play again unless they invest some money in refurbishing this course. It is like playing in a cow pasture. this is probably the most poorest condition course. I’ve played here since I’ve been in Phoenix.
Thank you for your feedback and for playing Stonecreek over the years. We’re sorry to hear that your recent experience did not meet your expectations.
Course conditions are extremely important to us, and we’ve been actively investing in improvements across the property. Over the past several months, guests have noted better green consistency, improved fairways, and overall progress in playability. While we know there is still work to do, we are committed to continued investment and long-term agronomic improvements to elevate the overall product.
We appreciate your honesty and hope you’ll consider visiting again to see the progress firsthand.
