Surprised
I played Stonecreek this summer and it was in poor condition. After the over seeding it is really in good shape. Greens are good, grass green and lush, tee boxes are good and fairways are well maintained. The course has some very good holes that will give your game a challenge.
Last minute decision
On vacation in Scottsdale area, woke up early with baby so took her to the course. Been here several times with guys on high priced golf trips to the “best courses”. Personally, I had a negative experience at several of the 300$/round courses and Stonecreek was sufficient for my needs. The price and people were a lot friendlier, although course layout was a little bland. Bottom line, sometimes less is more and I enjoyed my round. Greens were running decent, if players fixed ball marks it would help.
The course was overgrown and had trash everywhere. We left after 17 holes as we could not wait any longer on the tee box. The ranger was seen every 3rd or 4th hold and I'm not sure why they did nothing to speed up play.
Great course
Great course for the first time I played it and it was a great and wonderful experience for me very friendly staff it was cart path only but still a great time beautiful fairways and greens tee boxes were well maintained overall a great course to play I would definitely go back
golfnow not so great
Golfnow did not disclose that it was cart path only. Also the Golfnow rate was higher than the posted rate.
Oops
Used to be a big fan of this course. It’s in horrific shape now. Wouldn’t play it for free
Bad golfers with no manners, slow play
We have a big bachelor party group a head of us (may be 4 groups ore more). They are more interested in social and drinking than playing golf hence very slow play. Adding to the fact that most are shooting all over the place - finding balls. After 9 holes (more than 2.5 half hours) we gave up.
The course management was nice enough to give us a "gift card" (=50% of what we paid) for future reservations,
Are they closing
To begin with the bathrooms had a code and not only was it not on the scorecard I was not told at the desk what the code was. There had been a storm the night before which I do not ding them on but it would’ve been nice to been told that on the front nine at almost every Sandtrap was nothing but water and if you hit into it there’s no way to even retrieve your ball. There were also several other areas that were underwater and nothing was told about it when I checked in. Having never played there, how would I have known. Several of the Tee’s. were moved around. The fairways were in terrible shape. The tee boxes were in terrible shape. I am supposed to play there again but I don’t even care if I lose my goof code pass because I’m not gonna go back
Big Disappointment
My friend and I have played this course at least a half dozen times but had not played it in over 3 or 4 months. So when GolfNow offered a good rate we decided to play the course. We found the fairways dry and freshly mowed with thick clumps of dead grass all over the fairways and around the greens. The greens we very hard and didn’t hold a well hit ball. The greens had a number of dry spots as well. The tee boxes were overgrown with weeds and were almost too hard to accept a tee. When we played the 8th hole we were shocked by tremendous amount of trash lining the creek. Please clean that up. The pace of play was great until the 12th hole when we came upon a 4some who knew little about course etiquette and denied a play through courtesy. So we skipped a hole in order to limit our time on the course. When I referred the issue to the staff following the round he just laughed and stated that they were probably going to be playing a 7 hour round. If he knew this why didn’t he tell them to let people “play through “. It goes without saying that my friend and I will not be playing this course again. After all, there are over 300 other courses to choose from. We are so disappointed that a once great course is now far less than it could be.
Course getting ready for overseeding and was not in great shape. Greens were good, bunkers could have been better and the tee boxes were very uneven. Fairways were firm and fast but did have a lot of bare spots. For $25 course was ok.
your negative review wont get posted here.
played this course 9/9/19. had a terrible experience. Now I see they wont post my review. So I guess now I will just call the courses now as opposed to using a website that has to cherry pick the reviews.
Enjoyable Round
Friendly staff, great course and challenging greens. Played today in 4 hours.
stone creek
The coursewas in very good condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens. Not sure how true the greens were putting though. The sand in the sand traps is terrible and in some cases the sand is not deep enough.
Slow play, course in horrible condition, tee boxes closed, all rough not mowed, will give benefit of the doubt... course was flooded a few weeks ago
DONT PLAY HERE
almost every TEE BOX has fresh sod laid down, so they have "alternate" tee boxes. The driving range hasnt been mowed in weeks and each space to hit is rough 2.5 inches thick. THEY STILL HAD THE NERVE TO SELL ME RANGE BALLS, and not mention the condition of the range
NO mention of ANY of this on Golf now. NO MENTION of ANY this upon check in at the golf course.
It's insulting to arrive, check-in, and the counter person say absolutely nothing about course conditions when they are like this.
STAY AWAY like the plague.
Great Deal / Value.
Meal exceeded expectations.
Tough day
Stonecreek is a very challenging layout with some outstanding holes. The conditions were not good. Several tees were closed for repair, crabgrass was on almost all tee boxes, greens were rough from aeration and they were still wet from not being cut.
I will return but not until the weather cools and the course can be worked on and recover from the summer heat.
