I just bet McCord and Mickelson that your caddie could knock it on from here
Other than picking the literal hottest day of the year (and probably most humid) I had a blast playing here my first time. If you're lucky enough to play the Rancho side, look for signs along the way that have some famous scenes from "Tin Cup." Easily one of, if not the MOST beautiful course in Southern Az. With all the green and trees around, it really doesnt feel like Az at all.
Key tip: spend the couple bucks and pick up a yardage book in the pro shop (and an extra dozen). Aside from being the most beautiful, its possibly also the most unforgiving. The thick trees and bushes eat balls alive.
Tin Cup...A lot of fun!
I grew up on the courses in Houston where the US Open scenes of the movie Tin Cup were filmed, so I have played those before and they are some of the best courses I've ever stepped foot on. I recently learned of the Tubac Golf Resort course being the location for the scenes that were shot of the charity tournament and the qualifying rounds. This course is a lot of fun. The Tin Cup locations are marked with signs and you can even try to make the 240 yard 3 wood shot that Costner made in the bet right before he was fired by Don Johnson's character. I highly recommend this course if you're a Tin Cup fan and like a well-groomed course. The staff are very nice in the shop as well. I'm definitely coming back.
Beautiful!
Beautiful course! Everything was wonderful. Restaurant was excellent afterward, too! Definitely coming back!
Tubac weekend
Had another great weekend in Tubac. Rancho and Otero 9’s, course not long or hard but the surroundings r beautiful
GREAT COURSE FOR THE MONEY
Very nice course and very friendly staff. Set up for COVID 19 safety.
Love this course!
Tubac is fast becoming my favorite course in my new hometown! The three nines are each enjoyable and challenging!
A Tin Cup Classic
Really in great shape for the heat of the summer in southern AZ. tees off at 9:20 and was back in the Catalina Foothills by 2. Fairways were tight and good, most teeing grounds were in good shape, AND made it on in 2 from the Tin Cup “try it” spot! Friendly staff, really spectacular value.
Hidden Gem in Southern AZ
This is one of the most beautiful courses you will play anywhere in Arizona. But since it is 45 minutes south of Tucson not a lot of people outside of Tucson and southern Arizona know about it. Besides the beauty of the course and its surroundings, the course itself was in great shape. Fairways and greens were near perfect and the pace of play for our 4some was right at 4 hours. If you are visiting Tucson, or live in Tucson, it is well worth the drive down to Tubac for this course. Then go a just two miles further after for margaritas and food at Elvira's in the actual village of Tubac.
Rancho 9 Great Track
Played as a 4some today. Weather was great. Rancho (Tin Cup) design a great layout. Unique holes. Wouldn't make the drive from Tucson to play the other two 9's. They are mediocre. Disappointed in the condition of the fairways. Grass spotty and inconsistent. Greens putted true but a bit slow.
Course also seemed lax on Covid-19 safety. Though they permitted 1 person carts, there was a ball/club washer on the carts as well as divot sand bottles. With Covid-19 raging I would expect them to take greater precautions.
Just Fun
Went to Tubac for a change of venue during the Covid19 mess. Warm welcome, good pace of play, not terribly difficult or tricky and on a really hot day, we really enjoyed ourselves.
Weekend in Tubac
Golf course is not difficult and you can score well. For June greens were in great shape
