Great Winter course .. Most annoying GPS carts ever
2nd time playing the course. With no wind and a bit of course knowledge, it played much easier than 1st go around. Sand was perfect. Lengthy par 3's are testers. Wasn't sure how 234 yd par 3 was 10th handicap hole. The layout and facilities are top notch and worth the road trip. The carts have wayyy too much technology. If you have to touch the GPS screen over a dozen times it borders on ridiculous. The engine is governed by the GPS, so at times on the edge of the fairways, the cart thought it was in the rough and slowed way down .. stupid.
Creme de la Creme of Sacramento
Truly a course as close to being as pristine as possible. You're met at the bag drop off by an extremely friendly person who takes your bag and loads it on your cart. The course itself is a mixture of links, sparse trees and brush and low land marsh with plenty of water. There is more than enough strategically placed bunkers just waiting to catch any slightly off line shots. The course is full of elevations from tee to green with not a lot of level topography. Reminds you of a mountain course. Unique are the two putting greens: one on hole number one and the other on hole number ten. Balls are supplied on the range as well as the putting greens. Leaving the eighteenth, an attendant greets you and cleans your clubs. Obviously, a first class operation run by the Cache Creek Casino.
Thanksgiving Golf
Yocha Dehe is a beautiful Troon property. Best way to spend thanksgiving day. Beautiful course, beautiful weather and nice fast greens. Can't wait to go back!!
NOT a boring muni
Terrific course design located in the foothills. Challenging enough for all skill levels without being extreme. Well maintained and staff was pleasant. Range could use more space but adequate. Worth a visit if in the area.
Great course
First time been there. loved !!! Only down side I see was that there is no OB - anything goes to OB or hazard, it's one stoke penalty and play near where ball last crossed (this rule is to speed up the play, but I would like to hit again if ball goes to OB).
Great time, good, upbeat and helpful staff. Will return soon, good course!
Good day and excellent experience. Will return soon.
Fabulous course. We got a special rate of $59 on Golf Now. People paying more were happy.
The staff is great. Pace of Play is targeted at 4:29. If you fall behind, then they have you skip a hole and come back and play it. If you maintain the pace thereafter, you get a free drink. Played with two newbies we didn't know, and got behind. System worked great.
Course is immaculate. Staff is terrific. From the gold tees it was around 6900 yards. As an 8 I found it very challenging with lots of long second shots to the par 4s.
spectacular course layout
it was a spectacular day of golf course was in perfect condition
greens where in super shape and staff was real friendly finished off with dinner in club house overlooking golf course and watching sunset simply spectacular.
Best golf and deal I have ever experienced!
Top notch course and conditions. $35 hot deal. I may never get a better paying deal than this. Had to start twilight but still finished. I had never played before and this was a great intro. Must go back. Truth be told the savings went to Cash Creek after the round, but that was also very fun. :)
One of the best in sacramento
my top 10 for sure in Norther California. This is one course you have to try.
Pristine
This course is always in PRISTINE condition this is the second time that I have played it. The 1st tee is extremely elevated and overlooks a good portion of the course. The fairways are in excellent shape and they provide bottled water on almost every third whole. The staff is super friendly and really look after your needs, I even had a staff member locate my ball in the ruff. Lol...
If you haven't played this Troon Course Treat Yourself to a round you won't regret it!!!
Best Troon course in our area.
Disappointing
This is the first time I have been disappointed with the course . I am not sure when the greens were punched but they have not healed properly yet. Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for poor greens. The native grass was also being worked on, both necessary but disappointing to take out of town guest.
Great, True Golf Experience !!
Super Condition Grand Day on the Links. Fully appointed
Annual Event for Sure
Worth the tough location
This course is amazing and is in absolutely fantastic shape. The location is a bit of drive for most folks since this is a spot kind of out in the middle of nowhere but it is well worth the trip!
A Good Course, But...
Nice layout, but it's not all in front of you so it's very challenging to all first comers. The rough is punishing including around the greens so staying in the short stuff and managing your misses is important. The greens are normally very fast and true. However on our last round they had punched 3 wks back and they were still running very slow and needed badly to be rolled.
I rated the course 3 stars because I deducted one star for each of the issues I had with the course. The first is that they just can't charge these prices for a round and then give you greens that compare in performance to a muni with fuzzy super slow greens. At least notify with alerts about the aerification if it continues to affect normal play? Secondly, some compare this club to a resort and although it may appear that way, the club culture of overly focusing on pace of play and carts staying out of the 4" rough that hides balls says otherwise...between the marshals and the onboard display beeping at you it got pretty bad. A true resort promotes enjoyment of the facilities and not doing what we felt was 'nagging' to near the point of losing that enjoyment.
great course
Played this on a Sunday morning, staff was friendly, but at the turn we were getting food and the staff was telling us to hurry up... So when we got to the 10 th, the group in front was on the green, not a big deal.... Course was fun, greens were fast...will play again.
Challenging course (especially when it's windy).
Course has always been in very good to great shape evey time I've played here. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Elegant, pristine track
This beautiful course is pristine, beautifully maintained and interesting. It comes with the perks that Troon operation provides ... like unlimited bottles of chilled water complimentary along the course and chilled washcloths at round's end on a hot day. Pricey at regular rate, but very doable as one of golfnow.com's frequent offerings. One of the very best values available from golfnow.
hurry staff wants to play
overall the course is great and the free H2O at every 3-4 holes is a definite life saver as it was 100º + when we played; but the thing that brings down the rating is the staff;
we were hurried through to the first tee, even though we showed up 1 hours before our tee time; they said we were the group that had to go out before the staff gets to play?!? i'm all for everyone playing but i think that was just a bad look;
hidden gem
nice course, top-self service and conditions. extremely hot and way out in country. slow pace of play.
