Brown Fairway. I think this is the 9th fairway but it is typical of all fairways. Photo submitted by sherpaboy on 02/12/2022

Wouldn't play here again.
Course in terrible shape. Water pools everywhere, hence ground was churned up by electric carts. Very little evidence of grass, as a consequence, couldn't get any bounce off the turf with any club.
Hi, Pablo7216916. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club.
Greens are in good shape, fairways aren’t
Greens are legit and in good condition. The tee boxes were mostly in good shape and mostly level. They are a little furry right now, but it’s November and so that’s OK. The issue with this course is the fairways, they Just aren’t in good shape.
Range mats are below average and need replaced. Putting green is legit.
Bc of the fairways and it’s every fairway, the right price is $40 mid week with a cart and weekends $50 a person.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, u000006553565. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Great Layout, needs a lot of work on conditions
Fairways are bumpy and barren in too many places. Bunkers have NO sand. Greens are slow but decent.
Hello, jkkarhu. Thank you for visiting us at Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Reasonable Value for the discounted price
Minimal course maintenance, with unfavorable lies in the fairways. Waited on every shot behind a five-some.

Brown and Yellow
Not sure how they can charge $80 to play on a bunch of dirt and dead grass. Greens are a little better than the rest of the course, but slower than molasses. Expect to be spend close to 6 hours to finish 18 holes on a weekend
Definitely in need of some major maintenance
The course was in very poor shape. The only holes that I can remember that had an actual fairway were the last few .we won’t be back.
Beer cart rep was nice.

Super Friendly Staff!
Course was in ok condition all things considered. Pace of play was a little slow on back-nine. Had a newbie in the group in front of us. Tough lay-out with just the right level of being challenged. Staff was super professional and courteous. Hit 2 of the best shots in recent memory
Knocked down a tee shot on a par 3 on front nine within 2 feet and holed out an eagle on hole #9 from 92 yards out! Overall one of the best values in the greater San Diego/East County areas.

Horrible Conditions
While the staff here is generally friendly, the course itself is in pathetic condition. With the exception of the greens, the course is either overgrown or simply bare dirt. It is sad to see this Pete Dye designed course is such bad condition. I don't understand why they let this course fall into such obvious disrepair. I was also surprised to see they were putting out fivesomes...sometimes two or three in a row. This really slowed play down and is really bad form. I wouldn't recommend this course.

Great staff. Not so great course.
First I will start by saying the staff there is top notch. Very friendly and helpful. The course had a great layout but is in absolutely terrible condition. The greens are nice but everything else is a wreck. Hopefully they can revive the course because I’d love to play it when it gets back in better shape.
Bad bad bad
Played this course for years. Great test of golf.not anymore. The tee box grass is 3” long. Apparently the mower doesn’t work. Place is completely embarrassing. $80 no chance. Never again. Rant over
The front nine we did not see anybody in front of us. On the back nine there was a major log jam. It appears you sent many golfers off the back nine which made the back nine 2 1/2 hours plus which is unacceptable.
Terrible conditions
This might be the worst course in San Diego County. So much potential in terms of layout but the conditions were absolutely terrible. Tee boxes slanted, dirt in the middle of fairways, leaves everywhere making it impossible to find your ball, and unwelcoming old man at check-in (attitude as if he were angry at us for having to work).
Would not recommend to any friend.

Bummer
Tons of potential. Very challenging Pete dye design. What little maintenance there is goes only to the greens. It seems that management is counting the days before they go under. Everything from the tee boxes to the fringe is absolutely neglected.
Unbelievable Bad
This absolutely has to be the worst Golf course I’ve ever seen let alone played! The Tee boxes haven’t been cut in what looked like 2 months! They were uneven boxes and had large holes all over the place! You couldn’t even stand straight for your shot! At one point we thought we were at a landscaping dump because there was piles of trees and dirt and branches everywhere! This wasn’t a golf course and honestly I wouldn’t have someone pay me to play the course again!
In my opinion I think this is a direct reflection of absolutely terrible management by whom ever owns the course!
Get what you pay for
This track mirrors Cottonwood. Slow play, unkept tee boxes, overall poorly maintained. Best I can say, the cart was fully charged and fast enabling my group to quickly get to our next shot and wait. Departed course after 15 holes to avoid a 6 hour round.
