Played during aeration
Played last day of aeration at half price and it’s a bargain. Some fun holes. Tough course to walk. Absolutely beautiful out there and some holes with amazing views. More than a few shallow greens that can be tough to hold. Fun day though.
Play in the Sand
The course with the exception of all the greens
Was found in great condition.
All greens were found heavily aerated
Overcooked.( unclear why the course management
Did aeration 9 at a time?
MUST PLAY
Fairways just good as greens. Course is kind of short. Greens were impeccable. Going back in a month or so.
Worth a trip to play
Very good course, beautiful views, very friendly helpful staff.
Not my Favorite
I played this course once before 8 years ago and decided to give it another shot. Thought my original poor experience might have been due to a bad round on my part. After playing decent the second time, I can say that I really don't enjoy this course very much. Yes it's in great condition, but I find the layout tries too hard to be spectacular in places. Not being a member, I could only play in the afternoon when the winds were really kicking up. Between the wind and the severe elevation changes, club selection becomes a total guess. Service from staff was just OK, with some seeming rather disinterested. All in all, I much prefer to play The Quail which is nearby and in just as good a condition if not better..
Hire some Marshalls!!
I have played Carmel Valkey Ranch multiple times over the years. Always a beautiful course in extremely good condition. Yesterday was the same however, the pace of play was ridiculous. When we got to the ninth hole, we had to wait 45 minutes to tee off because there were five groups backed up on the hole. Found out later on that up ahead of us was a foursome comprised of "kitchen help" from the golf course. These guys had no clue how to play golf and the course should not allow them to hold up the pace of play of everyone on the course. We finally quit after 14 holes as did four or five other groups in front of us and behind us. Very disappointed in the golf course management to allow this to happen.
Excellent as Always
Play here as much as I can when I'm in town. A lot funner than The Quail down the road. The course is in good condition and the staff are friendly. Got an amazing super twilight deal. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it. The back 9 is a treasure to play. Particularly the 11th. I always play it from the top teebox and so should you!
Unbelievable views of the surrounding Carmel Valley
A fantastic track! Not as tough as some Pete Dye tracks, but a fun and fair test.
This is one of our favorite courses in town. Course is in great condition. Beautiful area.
