New Year’s Eve Father and Son
I had fun playing golf on New Year’s Eve with my Stepfather Baron. We both had not played Lake San Marcos Executive Golf Course in a very long time. We both enjoyed returning and playing one of our favorite golf courses.
Unethical
When I checked in the worker in the pro shop warned me that the greens were not in good condition, and that they had been getting a lot of complaints... he was right. Absolutely the worst greens I have ever played. I am shocked that there would not be some sort of notice when booking. Seems very unethical to let people book rounds and then let them know when they check in that greens are terrible. We tried to make the best of it, and enjoy the layout, but I will not be back.
The pic that I included is not nearly as bad as some others... I just happened to have my phone out for that one. Outs would just turn at right angles... punched greens are easier to putt on than some of these greens.
Swamp. Not worth the money
The course was in terrible shape
Greens ruddy not taken care of
Lots of puddles throughout the course.
Paying holiday rates was so disappointing.
Never again
I will call the manager also for a credit
This course is in amazing shape for it being off-season. Great facilities. I will be back.
Swamp / Bad Greens
I’ve played here a bunch and it’s a shame to see that every time I play here the course is seemingly in worse condition. There’s no question that the course has always struggled with drainage and irrigation but my word you would think this would be the first thing they fixed after the new management. Greens were the worst I had ever seen them, looked like they were all sick with a disease that put dead spots and divots and sand around the cups. Would love to see them fix these issues, then I’ll come back. The clubhouse, restaurant, and snack shop are awesome! A bit over priced in my opinion but there is a great vibe.
Disappointing Greens
I've played this course many times and thought I was getting a great deal through the Golf Now "Hot Deals" but ended up disappointed in the condition of the fairways and the greens. There seems to be drainage issues and many muddy spots on the greens with zero grass
Crime scene
The fairways literally looked like a crime scene with lots of white spray paint outlining the areas under repair.
Fairway grass and greens were thin. Numerous greens had mud patches that were painted green. We got a good deal and only paid $30 per round, but anyone paying the full price of say $75 is definitely not getting their moneys worth.
Depends on the price
Course is pretty beat up, but for under $40 on GN it’s still a good value. The staff is always friendly and pace is pretty good. For the rack rate of $60 walking on a weekday, go play somewhere else.
Greens are rough
If you can get it for cheap it’s worth playing. Staff is friendly and pace is relatively good. Greens are just in really rough shape and have been every time I’ve played here. You can tell course gets a lot of play and greens never really have a moment to heal. Course is a bit soggy as well.
Greens
Greens are terrible. Tee box on 1 and 10 you aren’t protected from the range. Kind of odd. Fairways are nice, but the greens are unplayable.
Terrible greens
The tee boxes have been terrible for over a decade. Now the greens are in terrible shape.
Poor condition
It’s too bad that they have let this course disintegrate into the pathetic condition it’s in now. It’s quite possible there should be more ground under repair sections than actual decent fairway. The green all have significant bare spots.
It’s sad to see because I really like the layout. It’s a $40 course tops.
Links at the Lakehouse
Super fun course, I know it’s winter so most courses are not going to be like they are in Summer. Fairways were good, some of the greens have some type of fungus but not all and not bad.
Drainage needs improvement, fix cart paths
Been golfing here for 10 years and doesn’t seem to be any improvement of soggy areas and fungusy muddy greens. Cart paths have been torn up for years and need to be repaved. Aprons are always sticky/wet.
