Big Improvement
This course has improved substantially from what it used to be. The management seems committed to making this the most desirable course in the area.
Superb course
The well-maintained fairway and green helped me enjoy the beauty of the natural and artificial combinations. Once the overseeding is done, it would be a perfect GC in San Diego area.
Seniors at Pala
Was a beautiful morning for golf... Until we got to 1st tee and found out it was cart path only!!! We were a senior threesome all in our mid-70's !! GolfNow didn't mention cart path only. We found out from the starter. The course itself was in good shape, bunkers playable, and pace of play was steady. The reason we get carts is so we don't have to walk so much!!! One of our threesome only made it to the 12th hole because he had knee replacement last year. It was a chore fir us to finish. Then we got to snackbar fir our usual Hotdogs & beverages, only to find a sign that said "be back soon". If we had known before-hand it was cart path only, we would have made another decision. Thank you for letting me vent for our group.
Worth the Money
The price was cheap enough to combat the lack of condition due to seeding which was expected. The tee boxes still need to be leveled out the require you to hit off a hill. Overall potential for true beauty.
Reduced price for fall maintenance
Greens were under repair. Cart path only due to fairway maintenance.
Nice mid morning t time
in over seed, played long... can be a very high quality track once the winter grass is in....
Not a top 10 San Diego course by any means
Ok course great layout. Pala Casino purchased the course a couple years back and while some aspects are nicer its just not an inviting welcoming place like it used to be. It seems like they don't want people paying to golf there and I'm not sure why

The has a nice layout. But on this day the course had over seeded and greens were punched and sanded, and cart path only. Golfnow informed me on the day that I played! I didn’t see my email until after I was done playing. Other than that we had a good time and will return.
Just ok
For $80… a definite waste of money. It was messy. Patchy grasss on t boxes. Fairways sane.
Great last minute spot
Great course! Amazing views and layout. I have played this course a handful of times and really enjoy it.

The course is in pretty good shape because no many play the course… prices are to high compared to courses around the area.
In addition, on the ninth hole coming down the cart path to my drive, I almost got hit by a driving range ball with high velocity. The range is too close to the ninth hole…. Pala needs to fix this!
Worth the trip
Layout of the course is fair, although there are a couple holes that are pretty tight off of the tee. Smaller than average green size, so if you hit 50% of the GIR, you played pretty darn good! Bunkering at this course is very good, and the sand is great to play out of. I found several bunkers(mainly greenside), and found all of them to be fair. Putting from above the hole on a couple of the greens was tricky, but overall very fair on these surfaces. The tee boxes are OK, the Kikuyu grass was new to me, but still fun to try and figure out, and it was overall a good experience. Range was mats only, but that is only a minor down side.
