A heated outdoor pool, four lighted tennis courts and fitness room are available to guests. The golf course starts out narrow but gets more scenic with more elevation changes later in the round.Facts

Enjoyable course
Met some nice guys. Course was in good shape. Lots of undulation on fairways. Pace of play was fairly normal.

In Need of Major Maitenance
The course “could” be a really good track, but the course is in desperate need of adequate maintenace.
Many fairways are missing grass, the greens are covered in fungus making them VERY SLOW and bumpy, and the tee boxes were atrocious.
It is definitely not in the shape of a “resort course” and is overpriced for the conditions.

Greens are struggling
Probably due to water costs but, the greens are pretty rough. They’re insanely long trying to keep the growth, but I mean you could roll them at least. Having to putt through grass thaat blades are standing up at at least 1/2” inch is insane. It’s varying from hole to hole, but the practice green is NOOOOOWHERE representative of the courses greens. Hopefully we get rain soon but I’m gunna hold off here until I know this place has gotten better.

I can see the potential, but not today..
I was asked by a family member to play this course, and I agreed. But maybe I should have stayed home. Fairways were mostly dirt, and the greens made it feel like I was putting through the islands of Hawaii. I get that there wells are broken, but then charge like $30 for a round, not $41 and definitely not $91. Hope it all gets fixed soon.

Avoid course for duration of 2022
What you need to know is that the course is hurting.
Two of their irrigation wells are broken and the effects are seen all over the course.
I'd avoid playing it until 2023 when hopefully it can bounce back.
There's a note in their men's club flyer posted in the restroom that for the duration of 2022, it's lift/clean/place throughout the course as many of the fairways are burning out due to the irrigation issues.
But that's not the worst of it. The greens have been lost. Not just one, two or three...but all 18.
There is some type of fungus/infection causing havoc on all the greens. There is no pure putting surface. Lots of splotches of different shades of green ranging from dark green to light green.
The differences are also impacting the putting surface. Lots of bumps from one splotch of green to the next and such causing balls not to roll true at all. Immensely frustrating when you don't know literally which way your putt will bounce.
I find it ingenious that this is not being broadcast and they are charging full rates. The course in its present condition does not warrant premium rates.
You've been warned....stay away from Pala Mesa until the wells are fixed and they can get back to better shape.

Great value
Looking for a deal and this course provided it. After we initially were going to play castle creek cc (avoid at all cost because it is dead) we hoped this course was in better shape. There were some spots that were hurting, but nothing that a foot wedge didn’t fix

Just played it and the whole course was hurting!
Burnt out fairways.
Dried out bunkers.
Greens that were lost and bumpy and impossible to putt on as nothing was consistent.

Not worth the asking price
The course was in terrible shape, pace of play was slow, bunkers were mud, and overall the experience was not fun. Add to that the $91 green fee which is crazy this golf course is worth $60 green fee at best. I would probably not play here again based off of the conditions and the price NOT WORTH IT.

Rough Shape
Course is not in very good shape… from tee box to green… a lot of work are needed to get course up to playing shape

A sad decline
It pains me to say it, but a course that used to be one of my favorites has declined to such a point that I’m not sure I will go back. The fairways have very little grass remaining on at least 50% of the courses. The sand traps are as hard as a rock, and the greens are in the bottom 5 of the 50 courses I play during a typical year. During Covid, they raised their rates by 50%: and I guess the money went into someone’s pocket rather than being invested in the course.

over priced
I paid $42 (hot deal) and it was still too much. The greens were real bumpy (mixture of 2 types of grass), patchy fairways, and the bunkers were hard dirt, not sand! Bad condition for a "resort" course!!

Staff & Course conditions
Staff was not friendly at the pro shop and the course conditions were very wet and no grass on the fairway with hoses and a sprinkler running along the fairway.
