Best conditioned course on the Monterey Pennisula
Redo is fabulous! Fairways are great, and the greens are receptive and in great shape. I love the fact that you can walk it in 4 hours. Nice happy hour, too.
Beautiful Day in Carmel Valley
Love this course. The recent upgrades for sustainability and minor course layout has enhanced the feel of this course. Always a pleasant staff.
The tee time was overbooked. The staff forced me the tee time to the late time.

Consider Quail Lodge on your next Monterey Peninsula golf trip
I didn't play the old Quail Lodge, so I can't really compare the old experience with the new look. I can, however, vouch that the newly renovated design by Todd Echenrode looks fantastic. It's a shot-maker's course that's fun to play. The first hole introduces the new challenges. Echenrode added one of his new fescue-laced bunkers up the right side to trick golfers into bailing out left. That mistake leads balls to land in thick rough in a new swale running adjacent to the fairway. Echenrode borrowed the concept of the swale from the 16th hole at Pasatiempo, applying it on holes 1-3 and later on holes 16-17 to replace several ponds. Elsewhere, he removed other water hazards, replacing them with drought tolerant landscaping. His cool-looking bunkers and the peaceful setting of the Carmel Valley - especially on holes 10-12 - will be what golfers remember. The climb up the hill to the elevated fourth green and the fall back down again on the par-3 fifth hole protected by a pond are nice touches, too. Quail Lodge just became another must play on the Monterey Peninsula.
A work in progress
I am looking forward to seeing the course when the renovation, now in progress, is completed. Very friendly and helpful staff. made me feel welcome, even as a first-time visitor.
Nice Course
Terrific golf experience. the course was in immaculate condition. It's fair and straight forward but with some good challenges. The facilities are in great condition, the staffs superb and the food is very good.
should make you feel good about your game
I have played this course many times for almost 50 years. The lodge has been updated in the past few years with wonderful modern accommodations. Edgar's restaurant serves local fresh delicious food.
The golf course is always in good condition. The fairways are generous and the greens receptive. I always seen to score well here. Quail is conveniently located less than 5 miles from downtown Carmel. The resort offers stay and play packages that have been a great deal.
Can't wait to play it again...
This was my second time playing this course. If you're an NCGA member, you get discounted fees which includes the range, cart and 18 holes. The starters made sure I had everything I needed - were very attentive.
This course meanders through very expensive homes and through the beautiful Carmel Valley. There isn't a bad hole on the entire course.
The greens were in excellent shape and each fairway/hole is unique. Because it's so beautiful and scenic, it felt the round went too fast...
I will be playing this course more often and Edgar's Restaurant (below the pro shop) is an excellent stop after a round.
