Rancho Bernardo Inn

RBI is extremely fair course with a great mix of flat and elevation. I personally find flat courses a bit boring, but I also like the chance to hit a shot from an even lie from time to time. As I mention in my summary, there are a lot of trees out there and errant shots are frequently penalized. I had a good day with the driver and when I found fairways, I had good scoring opportunities. Greens were well maintained and rolled very pure.

I guess if I had to find some issue with the course, it is that first timers may run into some trouble with blind tee shots. On a few holes it is a little tricky to decipher where you need to land your ball. Either through GPS or more detailed score cards, I think management could give us a little better idea where to hit the ball when it is not abundantly clear. Still, not that big of a deal, now that I have played the course, I will know how to play it in the future.

Honestly, I cannot wait to tee it up here again soon.

Oh, and the driving range needs some work, i think I plunked a house with a hybrid.

1st time at this course, thought we'd try it for $28 ea. Disappointed. Greens were in poor shape, fairways could use some watering. Was a moderately easy course but nothing special considering their usually high rates. No GPS in carts, never saw the cart girl in 90 degree weather and all the water coolers were empty. Fortunately, the staff was really nice and the Marshall did come by several times and he offered water when he could. I'll just mark this one off the list as "been there, done that" .

I booked a 5:30pm time thinking I would be lucky to get 9 holes but they had just finished a shotgun tournament so there was no one on the golf course and we were done in 2 hours and 15 minutes. The green were in great shape and the layout is a very mature park like setting with generous fairways. It is a fun golf course to play with a couple of reachable par 5's and will definitely put this on my "Play Again" List.

the course is in great shape... we played late in the afternoon (4pm start) and easily finished 18 holes. the greens rolled suprisingly well for being so late in the day. course was excellent

Interesting layout, good condition, nice greens. Watch out on Monday mornings as the range doesn't open until noon. You can stop at Oaks North nearby and hit a few, as we will do next time.

Friendly starter (Mark) get our round smoothly. Even though I was about five minutes late...The one knock would be finding the proper place for check in! No signs of any kind.

Greens were fast and challenging. You needed all your clubs in the bag! Started at 4 pm on a Wednesday, it took two of us just under 4 hours...

This is one of my favorites, relaxed resort golf a real escape from the world and the entire staff was awesome!

We played this course twilight on the holiday. There were very few people out there. Very beautiful landscape, peaceful. Course was in pristine condition. Only downside is this course is far away from center of San Diego.

The course is challenging enough but we paid far too much for aerated greens. I purchased a hot deal that was 1) supposed to be twenty percent off for booking thru golf now, that promo code did not work. 2) I prepaid $170.00 for a hot deal without mention of aerated greens. The proshop said you guys have their schedule and should have posted this on your site. Very disappointed. Please advise.

Beautiful course. Designed for a fun round. The only complaint I had is the directions to the golf shop are non-existent. We had to go into the hotel to find out how to get there . Overall, we had a good time.

The course is green and in great shape and the putting was smooth and rolling true.

Our 10:40 tee time became an 11:44 tee time after we arrived at the course because they did not allow enough time for a tournament with a 7 am shotgun start, to finish. Then the course management refused to make any amends for the players who were inconvenienced. Finally after waiting over an hour it took an hour to play the first three holes due to the slow play from the tournament who were ahead of us. Ultimately we had to leave at 2:45 pm after playing only nine holes because we had other commitments. I was given the phone number of the "First Assistant Golf Professional" to lodge a complaint, I called and left a viocemail but he never called back. Very poor customer service.

This course is beautiful, challenging but not punishing, and the staff are well trained in treating non-members well. We'll be back!

Loved our round at Rancho Bernardo. Very friendly staff, great golf course Great snack bar with reasonable prices and fantastic homemade egg salad sandwich for $6.00. Pristine course and lovely amenities. Enjoyed a great round of golf with a terrific couple from Chicago area.

Well maintained and challenging course. Great clubhouse and friendly staff. Definitely a must play course. Beautiful resort!

Resort style course with some variation of holes. Most fairways are fairly open but the green complexes make up for it in difficulty. The par 5 finishing hole is a little tricked up and requires a very precise approach shot to a virtually blind green.
The greens had been punched the previous two days so didn't give a true indication but even with dispersed sand on them they were pretty quick. An OK experience once I got past the pro shop but I wouldn't pay full fare to play here again.

Got a special aerification rate so we knew the conditions before we got there. But all in all the course is in good condition. It is obvious that a lot of work is being done in order to bring this great course back. They have redone some of the irrigation and improved some of the bunkers. (More bunker work is still needed.) But this is a nice layout with great staff and one of my favorite courses.

First off we got a great price of $30.00 per player. The course was in great condition, the fairways were nice and the greens were true and fast. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They made you feel important instead of a bother like some other courses we've played. Everything lined up for a fantastic day of golf. The weather, the course, the staff made for a wonderful time. Will definitely be back once the course is done being aerated.
