Some interesting holes.

In another month the condition of this course will be great...New irrigation system is installed and the results are now beginning to show...Greens were a little slow...

Lots of potential but irrigation work ongoing

This was a challenging and scenic course. I really enjoyed it. I paid a rate that was probably half price off normal but that was because there's a major irrigation project underway. Hole 11 was closed the day we played but there were visible signs of work elsewhere. Greens were in good shape though, albeit a little slow. Only issue was change/locker rooms were only accessible by hotel guests (which I wasn't).

Outstanding course

Let me begin by saying that I read reviews from others who had played here within 2 months and had complaints, ie irrigation system being installed etc. I factored these into my decision and still felt that this would be good value, etc and I was correct!
I showed up and was paired with 2 ladies and a guy....after their tee offs on #1, not hard par 4, I thought I'd be in for a 6 hour round. Glad I was wrong, this course was in outstanding conditions..the greens are like putting off the hood of your car but very manageable. This coursae is not that difficult.but it does have some challenging holes....but nothing one can't negotiate. One complaint was the food offered at the turn isn't very good value nor is it good..so pack your own food.
I'm a 12 handicapper and like this very much and will return again within a month.

Review Update

This review updates a review I posted after a round I played on April 20th. Subsequent to posting the review I was contacted by the golf staff. They apologized for the poor experience I had and indicated that they were making changes to prevent that from happening again. In addition, they offered me a complimentary round of golf. I believe they made a good recovery.

Lots of course updates going on.

There is a new irragation going in so there are a lot of torn up spots. Damp conditions throughout the course which is hard to play your ball.Greens were very soft with unattended ball marks. The course is very challenging for a hacker like me.

Very poor course condition

The course was in terrible shape. They should advise players in advance that they are over seeding and over watering and that carts are limited to cart path only. The whole course was a soggy, slippery mess and not enjoyable to play.

Needs work

The Inn resort side of Rancho Bernardo is in great need of the repairs that have begun. Beyond the irrigation system lines being installed, there is evidence that the course has been stressed for some time: bare spots in the fairways, ragged green fringes, & bunkers that need lots-o-work. None of these conditions, including cart paths only, were revealed before we showed up for play.

Classic track, hidden gem

I live in Little Italy, yet travel to RBI to play (I think that says a lot). The staff is the best. For the early golfers, they do not force people out when it is still dark- (i.e. there are no 5:52 tee times when sunrise is at 6:17). There are actual trees on the course, which makes it more of a challenge. The greens are generally in good shape. The price is usually right too. The only thing that is keeping me from giving this course an even better rating is the range; it is a shared range with the country club next door, where you generally hit off of dilapidated mats. The hotel restaurant is awesome and reasonably priced. Must say, this is one of the best public courses in San Diego county.
