The Resort at Pelican Hill

About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

Bucket List Course
Pelican Hill Ocean South is a beautiful and challenging course. The fairways are wide but you need to be fairly accurate since missed fairways will result in very difficult second shots and in most cases lost balls. The areas around the greens and the greens themselves are very tricky and almost unfair in some instances but this us what makes the course very difficult. The range and practice area is great and the staff very attentive. The green fees are expensive but there appear to be deals once in a while. This is a must play!
Pelican Hill is a Must!
Anyone level of golfer will enjoy this golf experience. Lower handicap players will be drooling to comeback again!
Great layout in a beautiful spot
Incredibly expensive, but worth it on a deal every once in a while, especially on a nice day.
Stunning Views
One of the best all around golf courses I have played. The views are stunning. The course design and conditions are exceptional. Customer service is outstanding.
A Slow Golf Day
The pace of play was terrible. Our round was over 5 hours due to a slow group in front of us that backed up all remaining groups on the course. We only saw a players assistant on the third hole and the group in front had a forecaddy who did not move the group along. We finally had to say something to the group after the 9th hole. They picked the pace up for two holes then got behind by a hole and a half. Inexcusable for a course charging a $400 fee. We were unable to finish our round. It was unfortunate as the course layout is excellent. The course also shut down very early, which precluded us from enjoying the facilities. I would not recommend the course.
$85 for 11 holes= Win
Caught a 3:15 tee time giving us enough time for 11 holes before it got dark. Pace of play was a little slow but the course is absolutely amazing, also caught a bonus sunset.
Pricey but....
Hard to beat the views here. Clearly you are paying a premium, but conditions were what you would expect, as was pace of play (cart path only due to previous rain, but moved pretty well - this has been an issue in the past). If you are ok spending the money, well worth it.
Nice Course
Course is in good overall conditions BUT the greens were no fun … please give them some water… unbelievable fast, putting was nearly not possible
But it is a great venue, amazing views, loved to play there
Better than I’d expected.
Beautiful course, lots of scenic photo ops , the greens were great just hard for a midwestern to read . Would love to play it again. 1:20 tee time rate was worth it got in 17 holes before dark .
Why Cart Path Only for all 18 holes?
The course layout is typical of a resort course. The views from the scenic holes on the back 9 make the course unique. Especially on a clear beautiful day, the views were gorgeous.
What we couldn't understand was the need for "cart path only" for all 18 holes. We know there was intermittent light rain on the course the day before. Cart path only for the Par 3 holes is typical for most courses. Even on some of the shorter Par 4 holes, cart path only may be reasonable and necessary. HOWEVER, cart path only for the Par 5 and longer Par 4 holes made it a long and tiring day. At other courses, muddy or wet areas are roped off so carts can be driven partially onto the course to areas where the fairway conditions are good. It is implied that this course has drainage issues over the entire south course which can't handle golf cart usage even after light rain. By the way, no one informed us that it was cart path until the 3rd hole when we called to ask why access to the fairways was restricted.
