View from 11th. Tee The Crossings @ Carlsbad Photo submitted by boldsirbrian on 11/27/2012
Beautiful course
This is my new favorite course. Awesome views and challenging layout. The back 9 is absolutely gorgeous with lots of fun holes. Will be making this a monthly outing.
Amazing Layout
We were lucky enough to be paired with some regular players. This could be a very difficult course on your first time out. There are several holes with tough shots over unimproved areas. We had a great day. The course is spread out so it gives you a lot of different views of the Carlsbad area.
interesting holes but poor fairway conditions
Modern clubhouse sits high on hill with nice views down to the ocean area. The course is an interesting layout of different holes. Fairway conditions were fair/poor at the time of our play, otherwise a good experience.
This course has great variety in layout and features.
The Crossings makes for a very enjoyable experience for both the average and expert golfer. The variety of elevations, hazards and terrain in the course layout provides an assortment of challenges for your game. Pace of play has been consistently good each time I have played the course. Golf carts have been outfitted with new GPS systems April 2013. Great treat for visiting golfers outsde the area arranging tee times through GolfNow.com.
Players not asked ability before teeing off
Played behind a foursome who hit from the black tees instead of the white tees. Older player seemed more interested in retrieving balls from out of bounds than being ready to hit. Marshall didn't pay attention to the backup either.
The back nine are really tight
I always wanted to play this course since I live across the street. I played great on the front nine, then I lost ten balls on the back nine. Its a great course and I will play again.
Awesome course
I booked a hot deal so the price was very good. It is a great course and I will play here again. This was the first time my friend and I played here, and we were both very impressed with it.
I'd rather play somewhere else
I've played this course a couple times now and both times I wasn't impressed. The only reason I came back is because I had a friend that wanted to play it. The staff is rude and and if you don't have a foursome they will make you one every time even if they put you with their staff to play with you. The greens and tee boxes are in decent condition but the fairways need attention. The course looks yellow. Personally, there are a lot of courses I'd rather play than this course for the money.
views,tee boxes, greens excellent
loved the course will return soon great views good greens good tee boxes aveage fairways
Fun course. Lots of elevation changes and a wild card ride between holes.
Course is in great condition and would be very difficult from the black tees. I played from the whites with my 14 yr old son and it was not too long but very tight in places. Greens had multiple tiers and were not easy if you didn't hit to the right tier. Staff was friendly and 5 hr round was with minimal waiting and lots of long drives between holes.
Great course w/challenging holes
Besides it being a slow pace round, this course offers great scenic views w/pristine course conditions. Both fairways & greens were in great shape & bunkers actually had sand in them-unlike other courses recently played. Overall, it was a great day to play a round @ a great course.
fun course to play
Played here on a recent trip to San Diego area. Was my favorite course we played that week. Course was in very good shape and was fun to play. The layout is probably not the best, there are some extremely long drives with the cart between some of the holes, but pretty area and fun course to play!
Good course but noisy and not easy
I was told that this course cost $70,000,000. There are many bridges and very long, wide concrete cart paths. The course is demanding, and there are annoying additions to the design, like steep slopes on the front side of greens, preventing a slightly short shot from making the green and rolling back down the hill. I was surprised that the White Tee slope was only 125. There are many planes flying overhead, because the course is right next to the Carlsbad Airport. Some of the holes are also on a very busy Palomar Airport Road. But if your game is in good shape, and you don't mind quite a bit of noise, then this course is affordably priced and is close to the freeway, making it convenient to play. There are also plenty of on-course marshals, so everybody keeps pace!
Great layout with challenging but playable holes.
Course was in great condition. Layout was great with some short holes that tempt you to go for it. Slicers can have problems as it is possible to lose a lot of balls if you don't keep in in control off the tees.
Good layout..tough to play on airated greens
Fun Layout....really good idea on the voucher for another play due to the airaition..some holes were tough to putt due to airaition really looking forward to play course with the greens back to normal
Great Day
Love this course....Well kept facilities....Excellent service.
It just takes along time to complete 18...not due to slow play, but the course is spread out....
I will golf here again and again !
Slow day on a great course
Last day of vacation with the sun setting in the west.
Course looks good until you start playing it!
The clubhouse is very impressive. But most of the staff lacks customer service skills! They start off by putting our clubs on a cart and drive it away and explain nothing. Everything you need to figure out yourself. The food and beverage cart service staff were wonderful. But the course marshalls were simply useless. Too many and they did nothing to speed up play. The worst part for us was the electric cart ran out of battery life on the way to the 16th tee box. Had to push it up two major inclines. Had hit the emergency button with no response. It is a good thing the cart was dying and not one of us! The beverage cart gal showed us how to get another cart delivered and the no customer skills marshall showed up with our replacement cart. Overall, would not paly this course again!
Good layout, decent challenge
The course had a nice balance of aesthetics and challenge. The conditions were not the best in February, but the grass is probably more lush and even in Spring-Fall. A good golfnow rate for the weekend makes it a reasonable value.
Awesome would play it again
Course was alot of fun to play, very challenging. My husband played the blue and I played the whites. Awesome holes. I made birdie on hole 11 We had a great day.
