View from 11th. Tee The Crossings @ Carlsbad Photo submitted by boldsirbrian on 11/27/2012
love the vistas
just puntched the green but all putts were true and still hade good speed.
Nice vistas
The course had just aerated the greens and golf now does not indicate this. The course itself was in pretty good shape, though fairways could have been greener/plusher. I believe current drought had a lot to do with this. Great views of the course over the long and winding cart paths. Staff was very friendly in clubhouse and on the course. Will play again if in area.
Nice! but slow
Play was pretty slow, course is in good condition.
The only other thing I observed was the players not fixing there own wedge divots in the fairways.
It seemed that there were an unusually high amount of divots from the wedges not being filled..
Love the new GPS!
Challenging course
Excellent conditions and nice flight partners, nice scenery
Great practice facilities
Front nine was very nice ... the back nine had 4/5 non-traditional holes ... "Micky Mouse" like. Did not live up to hype as a must play course.
The course is very challenging and a lot of beauty!
We highly recommend this course if you like a challenging course, good food, and a lot of beauty. Always golf The Crossings when in the area!
Good course.
9am tee time on a Saturday. 20 min delay right off the bat. Something about a weeding and all the guys being late etc. Overall the course played a little over 4.5h but with the delay it was about 5h.
Nice golf course overall. Great elevation changes. Greens in very good conditions. Few blind shots, but they have a great GPS system on the cart that allows you the view of the whole golf course. Greens are tricky at times, and fairly quick. Played Torrey Pines the day before and found the greens to be quicker at Crossings. For non-residents, $100 green fee is a bit steep for a muni.
Must play if you are in the Area
My wife and I are average golfers but the beauty and conditions of the course encouraged us forward. We love this course and plan to visit everytime in Carlsbad. The pace of play on our last visit was very slow and we couldn't finish one hole. We hope they can solve this because we will definitely golf there again.
Hilly but fun
Good course, but walking for mountain goats only. Extreme changes in elevation and long distances from greens to next tee. Take a cart. Well laid out into natural terrain, with a good mixture of risk and reward holes. Greens were very good, fairways were good considering the time of year and the drought. Lots of elevated tees to add to the fun. Be sure and play the tees recommended for you handicap.
(Airport) Crossings at Carlsbad
I definitely enjoyed myself on this round playing with visiting family. It is a beautiful course with plenty of challenges. The clubhouse is laid out well, the food was above par and the staff was friendly. A bloody mary and a breakfast burrito was a great start to the round.
The only thing that would have made the round better is if the group behind us wouldn't have hit up on us, on multiple holes. Also, if the marshal following us like a shark stalking its prey would have left us alone. It would have been even better if he would have stopped telling us to speed up realizing we were actually ahead of the pace of play and keeping up with the group ahead of us just fine.
Other than the cantankerous old man and the group behind us don't expect it to be a quiet siren round as you are closer to the Palomar/Carlsbad Airport than I had realized.
In the end though...it's a great course and I'd play it again.
The course is beautifully cut into the natural landscape and the greens are fast and true.
Friendly staff, fast greens, beautiful views on a course cut into the natural landscape.
Distracting noise
Everyone in our group had to back off shots due to air traffic from the adjoining airport. Greens were fast and true, fairways short but to be expected this time of year.
Top 5 in sd beside Torrey
Course was a lil overpriced because in the summer I got it around 50-60 which is super cheap. The service was excellent all around. It wasn't cart path only like everywhere else. I would come back every time if it was 50-60. I paid 88 and it just seemed steep.
interesting set up with lots of elevations and drop offs
played for $79 and it was a fun set up - many holes with nice visual appeal - enjoyed puting the greens - only issue was the blind tee shot on par five on back nine but marshall helped facilitate play there; a nice course that I would play again
good track. be sure to play the tees your handicap suggests
Enjoyed the course. great views, challenging and well designed layout. Only issue was recently punched greens but the putting was generally consistent even though they had not been cut. Will definitely play again when in San Diego.
beautiful layout, challenging, but
We weren't aware that they had punched the front 9 the day we played, got a coupon to return for the cost of a cart (very necessary on this huge layout). The greens on the back were OK, not great but not horrible. Clearly people don't fix their ballmarks. The fairways were pretty good, but considering the season (Sept) you can't expect them to be pristine without massive watering. Beautiful course, have to hit it straight to keep your balls from going into the protected areas. If you spray your shots take a lot of balls. Would play it again, hopefully before we head home and when the greens catch up to the aeration.
One of my favorite courses.
Play was really slow; however, it was a holiday.
This course is awesome due to it's elevated tees leading to exciting challenges.
A very nice course
This is the third time we have played this course while visiting the San Diego area. The place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. You will be challenged here with some forced carry's and sloped landing areas, but it plays fair. The airplane noise from Palomar was the only reason I did not give it 5 stars. There was quite a bit of air traffic on the day we played.
Great layout
You can't walk this course for a reason, the layout is very expansive and that makes for a great day of views on the course. Challenging and consistent greens were great. Just don't mind a little electric chatter overhead.
Unique Course with big elevation changes
Really enjoyed the course. It is well maintained and offers a unique experience with all the elevation changes
