Westin Desert Willow Villas

We showed up 20 minutes late because of a traffic jam. They set us up with a later time and helped us out. Super friendly staff!!

Rode the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) in 4H twilight on a GN "Hot Deal". Played with Joe, Don and Craig, nice guys to play with. Hazy, breezy and around 105.

Tees mostly lush and level with few divots.

Fairways lush and good to play from.

Rough very lush. The ball sat up, not overly penal except it cost you roll and usually good to chip out of.

Greenside traps had good quality sand and were decently maintained. Just too thin. Waste bunkers were firm and not as well maintained as the greenside traps.

Large greens very disappointing. Late summer bumpy Bermuda, they putted medium speed and were firm. You had to play for rollout.

Customer Service always excellent here from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up after the round. No Drink Cart today. Ice/water stations every few holes. Nice GPS on upgraded carts that have ports for electronics. The all grass driving range is included and is excellent with a nice practice chipping area. Excellent and very fun layout to play. Recommended, IMO the best public course in the Palm Springs area. Just not in as good of shape as it usually is.

Rode the Purples (6507/71.2/128) in 3H twilight. Hazy, breezy and in the low 100's.

Tees were good with only a few needing divot repair. Level and mostly lush.

Fairways lush and nice to play from.

Rough was very lush and mowed low, not very penal.

Traps were nicely maintained with good quality sand.

Bermuda greens were medium speed and firm. Late Summer Bermuda bumpy with the heat.

Always exceptional customer service here. Quick, efficient check-in. Excellent all grass practice facility with complementary range balls. Nice GPS on the upgraded carts that have ports for electronics. No Drink cart this afternoon, but plenty of ice/water stations on the course every few holes.

Fun layout with plenty of water and traps but they do not overwhelm you. Recommended.

I was shocked to find out this is a municipal course. The course was in great shape considering the weather. There were high winds last night and the grounds keepers were hard at work restoring the course. Overall I had a great time ! I would certainly play again.

Loved the course, layout, conditions, and pace of play were awesome. Extremely hot out there 115 degrees, but that is Palm Springs golf.

We were paired up with a husband and wife who sprayed the ball a bit. After 5 holes we both received a message on our cart that we were behind pace of play. On tee box number 6 a staff member brought us wet towels because of the heat. The real reason was to tell us to speed up because we were behind pace. From that point on the couple we were paired up with started to play best ball. The group behind us was a threesome, so they were going to catch us. I know all about pace of play, but it was unfair to send a staff member to tell us to speed up. Won’t be back.

Conditions were very good, especially for the middle of the summer. Fairways were green and lush and the greens were beautiful. We played at noon so the course was pretty much wide open. We passed a group midway through, but still played in a little over 3 hours.

Course was in amazing shape.. Greens rolled true and fairway was green, no dead grass anywhere. Staff tip tip like always. Foursome was done in 3:40 .

I have played Firecliff a few times, so playing Mountain View for the first time pales in comparison. The course itself was in excellent condition, greens were rolling nice, very fair. The Par 4s were average layouts, which got a bit monotonous for my liking. But overall, an enjoyable, easier layout than Firecliff.

I live in San Diego and I have been playing Desert Willow every summer for the last 25 years. I think the Firecliff and Mountain View courses have the best landscaping of any courses in the valley! They are always in real shape even in the middle of the summer. And on top of all of this, the management and staff have always been very accommodating and helpful. You just can't beat these two courses for public access courses
