The greens are dead!
My brother and nephew flew in to play golf and I booked a 3-some on GN. Arrived 1 hour early to be told by the starter that, "a single would be joining us and that he was on the range". Ok??? It was 102 degrees that day and our tee time was for 11:35 (45 minutes away). There were a total of 8 golfers, including us, on the entire course that day-- and the starter wanted to put a single with us? And share a cart? This starter kept coming out to the range to see if we were ready. The second time he came out he said, "you need to go now because there was a slow four-some about to tee off". I finally told him that our tee time was at 11:35 and we would be ready at 11:30. Did this starter have somewhere to go? It was also weird that this starter could not spare an extra cart to let a single go by himself on a hot day, with no one on the course? It got worse from there because the first 9 greens were completely a mess. Diseased and dying with clumps of mud and sand. We had to play a "maximum two-putt rule" because the greens were unplayable for the first 9 holes. The second 9 were barely playable. It's sad, this is a great course. I just wish that they would have advertised that ALL of there greens were dead and we would be putting on sand and mud in their place. I would definitely AVOID this place until they replace their greens. Maybe next year?
Great layout. Course was in good shape except for the greens. Greens were in bad shape due to summer weather.
Desert Willow Mountain
General course condition is good, but greens are horrible right now. I wouldn’t recommend playing it right now.
Course in good shape but greens are little bumpy
Staff very friendly and very up front about the condition of the greens. Greens still in process of transforming from bent to bermuda grass. They expect the greens to be back to normal after a few more days of high heat. Firecliff course is under major renovation and this sister course is a great layout.
Green conditions
The green were pretty bad. I did not know how bad the greens were till I got an email from the course stating how bad they were.
HORRIBLE GREENS
I play golf very frequently and I understand the concept of fixing and replacing greens, fairways, etc. I have NEVER played a course with worse greens that are truthfully unplayable. I don’t understand how a course would let players know the conditions prior to booking a tee time. Absolute waste of money. They should just close until they are playable. DO NOT PLAY HERE UNTIL THEY ARE FIXED
HORRIBLE
The greens are absolute TORCHED, do not play here until they are fixed. Absolute waste of money. Wish places would tell you the conditions of their course before you book a tee time.
Very nice and clean
Good everywhere except the flag greens was more dirt then grass on most holes because of the re-construction they are doing rite now on the putting greens, overall great course though! Hope to go back and achieve a lower score next time.
Disappointed
Greens had no grass on them
Not given any notice ahead of playing how poor the greens were
Staff just said sorry
Starter was not at all friendly
Seems like everyone just didn’t want to be there
Disappointing Greens
The course needs to let you know up front how bad the Greens are!!
Also not worth the $$$ with the greens being unplayable
Disappointing
horrible greens
the Fairways were in good condition; but Greens were absolutely not playable! The course had do be closed until Greens will be repaired. Dave money and chose another course!
Very nice course and excellent staff
First time playing this course and I was pleasantly impressed with it. Very scenic holes and great layout.
The staff was super friendly and helpful.
The greens were pretty good even thought they were a little dry and patchy. Typical for this time of year. All in all, a wonderful time and look forward to playing it again.
The worst greens I have ever played!!!
I want to preface this by saying that I’m a +2 handicap and I play a lot of golf. I’m not a snob by any means and grew up playing a sub par muni. The photos that I am posting aren’t even the worst greens. These are from the back 9. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but it was too bad. When you can’t putt a 3 footer because there is no grass you should close until the course is playable. Do yourself a favor and play anywhere else but here. I want a refund but the staff couldn’t care less. When I say the greens are the worst I have ever played I mean it. I have played temporary greens that were better.
One of best in Palm Springs area
FireCliff course is one of the best conditioned courses in the Palm Springs area!!
It was a great day and course, had a great time!
Would definitely play again !
Enjoyable golf day
My one concern is the condition of the greens. Hard to imagine how they will have a good condition as the weather gets hotter. Everything else was wonderful!!
Good course but greens are struggling currently
Any other time I would give this course 5 stars but the greens are struggling right now. Surprisingly the fairways are in great condition but I have no idea what is happening to the greens. Some holes have barren patches so the ball is rolling at unreliable speed and hard to control. Appreciate the plentiful bathrooms and water and ice stations located throughout the course and the service is top notch.
