Great layout with value price

Resort course quality with a public course price. Well maintained. Good selection of tee options to match a golfers ability. The only thing that needs improvement is the Bunkers. While not terrible, they definitely need more sand. If you land in a Trap use a low bounce wedge instead of your Sand wedge and you will do fine.

Great track in poor shape

It's definitely on the mellow side of all the Pete Dye courses I've played. Unfortunately, it's the worst maintained Troon managed course I've played.

The fairways and greens are good, the rough and bunkers are awful. Standing water in a bunker, rough is dry, dead grass in too many spots. The Pete Dye signature railroad ties lining the lakes are disintegrating into many of the lakes.

This place needs an infusion to get it back into shape. As is, I would not return.

To cap it off, the starter was very rude when we didn't accept his offer to move up our tee time and forego lunch and warm-up. Overall bad experience at what could be a very fun course.

One of our overall faves in Palm Springs area

Shout out to Justin for being one of the friendliest staff we've met playing golf in the area. The course is in very good shape. It's changed management a bunch, but remains consistently in great shape. More challenging than many others in the area, but also very beautiful. Highly recommend. The club house is bare bones and not really welcoming for a 19th hold situation. But I'm here to play golf. What happens after isn't really in consideration.

Challenging Resort Course

Hadn't played this one in years, but it's always a fun challenge with water, bunkers and enough undulation to give any level of golfer an interesting round.

Fun course

Fairways and greens are in good condition. Rough and off fairways are in rather rough shape.

A great resort golf course

We play this course almost every time that we visit the Palm Springs area. It is an affordable course that seems to always be in great shape. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Not an overly long or tricked-up course. It has wider fairways and large greens but there is a fair amount of water and bunkers to keep you on your toes.

This course is a jewel!

We were treated very nice by the staff right from bag pick-up by Dane to the pro shop. The course was in very good shape & we would definitely recommend the Pete Dye Mission Hills course to any golfers.

Dry course

Dry conditions left the fairways scratchy and slightly too many tight lies. Tea boxes and greens were in pretty good condition

A course to avoid

I played the Westin Pete Dye course yesterday on Easter Sunday. I don't know if the staff were upset about having to work on a holiday weekend, but I can't recall ever running up against a less professional and helpful golf course team. The pro shop attendant was apathetic, and rented my playing partner from out of town a set of "Callaway" clubs for $50. When I asked the starter where we could pick up the cart and clubs, he stared at me for a few seconds as if in disbelief that I would bother him, and then he said, "Down there," nodding toward the cart garage.

OK. We walked down to the cart garage and asked for the clubs and the attendant just pointed to some bags against the wall and told us to get one. It turned out, there were no Callaway sets. The bags were all full of mismatched clubs that looked like a lost-and-found. My buddy couldn't find a full set and asked the guy if he could get a 5 wood. He told him, "That's what we have. You'll just have to adjust."

The course is a nice Pete Dye layout, but the bunkers weren't maintained and the greens were challenging and fast but scarred by a lot of divots. When we got to the first tee, my friend discovered that his rented Srixon driver had a huge dent in it, so he had to play the entire day with only a 3 wood. When we finished up, we dropped the clubs and I complained about the condition of the rented equipment and asked who I should speak with. One of the two attendants said, "Talk to Phil tomorrow, he knows how to deal with cry babies like you." If it sounds like I'm exaggerating, I get that. I couldn't believe it myself. I don't think I'd heard the cry baby line since elementary school.

Clearly, this "team" isn't held to high standards and they are used to providing minimal service to rotating hotel guests. With so many great options in the area, I highly recommend avoiding this course. I can see why people have left good reviews, because if we had just gone out with our own clubs, I'd probably say it was a nice day too. But you can do a lot better.

poorly run course

We played the Westin's Pete Dye track on a Sunday and I've never come across a less welcoming and professional staff. The young man at the desk was apathetic, the starter simply stared at me when I asked where to pick up a cart and rental clubs and when we walked down to the cart garage, the attendant handed me a mismatched bag of old clubs ($50 rental) with no 5 wood. I asked for one and he said, "you'll just have to adjust."

Once on the course, I realized the driver had a huge dent in it and I had to play the entire round with only a 3 wood. Nice Pete Dye layout but the greens and bunkers were badly maintained. When we returned the clubs, I complained about the condition of the equipment and the guy said. "Talk to Phil tomorrow. He knows how to deal with crybabies like you." What? Are these people in elementary school?

To put it mildly, this is not a well-managed golf course worth your time and money. Plenty of better options.
