One of the Best Tampa Bay Courses
Lake Jovita North is a wide, but challenging golf course. It is always I have excellent condition, and offers many challenging holes with a little bit of elevation. Be aware of I’ve even lies and will play sand traps. Check golf now and you will often find a reasonable green fee.
Wonderful Experience
The course is a fun layout, with good scenery. All of the employees were very helpful and eager to please. Unfortunately it has been raining a LOT in Florida this year which hampered the club somewhat, but they have done a great job mitigating its effects on the players. We had a foursome with handicaps varying from 4 to 40 and we all had a great time. The 40 handicap lost a few balls but then that’s golf.
Chaos
We started nearly an hour late as there were no fully charged golf carts. The cart they gave us died after 5 holes, ,and we carried and walked for nearly an hour in the summer heat waiting on a replacement cart.
On the course itself, it is a super layout with above average greens, but it is clearly showing its age - especially the bunkers, which were puddled and overgrown with weeds. Probably the immense scale of the property overwhelms the limited maintenance budget.
Nice folks working the carts - the issue was aging cart batteries plus a drunkfest 8:30 shotgun where people were just finishing at 1:30+.
Too bad - it is an amazing layout.
Great not Perfect
I want to first start off by saying that I was highly recommended to play this course by multiple other people that I have played with in the area. After playing the North course today I can absolutely see why people talk so highly about it. Upon arrival I walked into the very nice pro shop and was greeted by a friendly Staffer. As I made my way up to the starter I really appreciated the large practice green they had before moving on to the first tee. The starter was extremely friendly and allowed myself as well as the people I got paired up with to go out early so we could beat the rain. The course was in very good shape and the greens rolled firm and fast. There were many holes with elevation changes which was a breath of fresh air considering the flat landscapes of other courses. Very few holes had catastrophic danger that could cause the scores to shoot up. There were also some holes that had a very interesting layout as well as natural features like large mature trees in the middle of the fairway (10, 11). The reason for my title describing the course as not perfect was because I did encounter a couple spots on the fairways that were dry and patchy. I want to emphasize that this did not happen very often and overall the fairways were in extremely good shape. I had a great time playing the course this afternoon and will definitely be back not only to play the South course but the north again as well.
Dodged the rain at Lake Jovita
Played the North course at Lake Jovita. Got around in four hours as a 2 some.
Greens appear to be aerated a 2-3 weeks ago but are rolling true with no bumps and very quick.
The greens are holding.
Course is in good condition with some wet spots and bare spots.
Come play this Carolina style course you will not be disappointed.
To expensive
The greens we're in good ( not great) Condition. The tee boxes had little to no grass, fairways we're like a cow paster in many areas, sand traps had water in them and others were like concrete. Half the holes were cart path only. It would have been better if the course would have been cart path, at least you could prepare for it.from club house, vno signs telling players were first hole, 10th hole, driving range. Pay $60 for a $30 course. I will never play there again.
Fast 18
Course was in great shape for this time of year. Less than 3hrs. Can’t ask for much more. Always love the layout on the South.,
Good test of golf. Lots of fairway bunkers make tee shot very important. Undulating greens are a challenge. Very nice course.
Pretty good.
I like the place. Greens were punched a week or 2 ago, still healing but almost there. A few spots in the fairways where the grass was a bit sparse. Traps could use some fluffing up, they were pretty packed down. All in all, still a good place play 18.
Course in a rough shape right now due to lack of rain the last few weeks. Several burnt out fairways, and slower greens than what the course is known for. May need a few weeks to let it bounce back
Thirsty
Great course, best around, might see beverage cart once, one course doesn't go near clubhouse on turn, needs better beverage service.
Pace of play was horrible
Played the North Course on Saturday, June 1. Course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was horrible. Took 5 hours and 10 minutes to play 18. At one point there were 3 groups on the tee box on # 6. Pro Shop was contacted and informed us they would speed up play. We saw only 1 marshal during the entire round and he did nothing. Very disappointed in the way the staff handled the situation.
Great day
Course is in perfect condition. Greens are super fast. Staff extremely freindly.
Real test from the back tees
Enjoyed playing North course with my sons. Lots of choice for tees. They played back tees and played very well......I spent most of the day watching them. Friendly staff and greet warm up facilities.
Just go.
I like this course. It's in great shape. Leave your ego at home and choose the proper tees. Big, fast greens. Anything downhill is just plain scary. Don't let that stop you.
Never Again
Stuck behind a slow 4 some. They would not let us pass and the teen age workers wore no help. Pay a little more and go to a different course. Life is tooo sort, sorry birthday tanks.
Great but
Wind is blowing the flag sticks over hurting the holes. Silly but noticeable
