Great conditions, challenging greens, very nice course!
First time on this course (North). We played late (3:10) so likely not going to finish and we had the local college team playing ahead of us. Course is in very very good condition and it's very picturesque and challenging. Driving off the tee is fair with some carries (open), but the greens if you're on the wrong side (narrow approaches with undulating greens), is extremely challenging. I would go back again.
Pace of play
Only issue. They sent a single out ahead of us followed by a twosome behind us. Poor management of tee times. We waited all day. The foursomes did OK. The single dropped back after nine and joined the twosome at our suggestion. The starter should have sorted this. 15 minutes quicker on the back nine but still 4:40 to play on a Monday.
Great features
I rated the pace of play as excellent,we didn't see a group in front of us or behind us. Maybe that was a dead giveaway as to what we experienced. Our foursome has played the North and South courses many times over the last 2 years. Back in December, we played the South course. Have to say we were disappointed with the conditions around the greens and fairways. So we decided to try other locations and give some time for the course to recover. Maybe it was getting too much play. Like others, we are not concerned about paying $80 plus if the conditions warrant that. It has to be money well spent. Lake Jovita must be going through some transition. As I walked into Proshop I heard a manager asking a member of the course, "So how was it?" Referring to conditions, and all I heard was, well it was alright. Well after the 4 th hole we were all saying, it's alright, but not worth the $80 plus maybe $60 If we were to rate on a scale 1-10. T-boxes 7 Fairways, 6, were not consistent in length of grass and baron in some areas. Approach areas and greens, 5. Baron and spotty, inconsistent length, and dry dirt areas are unmarked as ground under repair. The greens themselves rolled with a consistent pace at least, but had many hole location changes or purposely added black dirt over the spots, which were many on each green, which could have been miracle grow to heal some bad spots on the greens. All the greens were peppered with these. The course must be in the middle of receiving new carts. To our surprise, these did not have GPS installed no explanation was given and no consideration in price was considered. When you're accustomed to paying for something and then it's not there. The staff has been great and cart personnel try to be accommodating. However, many seem to run out of sandwiches, and most will run back to the snack bar and come back with them. This cart person did this for us and was tipped well for it. The other group with us requested a return trip for food. I guess the wise thing for this person would have been to stock up just in case, upon the first request. This time the cart person returned to us, and was told not to return with more food. We appreciated the courtesy of returning to tell us we couldn't have more food. Not sure if it's a new management thing or they lost their Greens superintendant. So for the time being we will spend our money elsewhere and wait to read reviews as the year progresses before returning. Keep us posted.
Great Course, time well spent !!
Had a really good time played a great course, found it challenging and rewarding at the same time. The only issue was that the range was closed so we couldn’t hit any balls which was advertised was included in our price.
Great layout and in very good shape
Excellent layout and in great shape. Pace of play was outstanding as well, played on a Sunday at noon and not crowded, very unexpected treat.

We had great time and course was in great shape
Grass was green and greens were in nice shape
SLOW, SLOW, SLOW!!
Second slowest round of golf in my life. 5 hours 10 minutes. Would have been even longer if the group ahead of us hadn't quit the last two holes Had to wait EVERY tee and fairway shot. Clubhouse attendant didn't care at all. Only response was "Well it was only 55 minutes longer than normal".
Have played many times before never again.
Super Slow Play
This is the fourth time I've golfed this course - but never again. Our round took 5 hours and 10 minutes. It would have been an even longer but the slow people in front of us quit after the 16th hole. I asked the golf pro there why there wasn't a course ranger moving the course of play along, but he said there wasn't a course ranger. We waited on every shot once we hit the backlog after the first hole. It was ridiculous. All the years I've golfed (45+) this was the second slowest round of golf I've ever played. When it happened the first time,, the golf pro there offered us a free round of golf for our troubles. I asked the golf pro at Lake Jovita if he would do the same, and he said "that isn't going to happen." He offered nothing else either. The slow pace of play took a lot of the fun out of the round. This is too bad because the golf course itself is great, but waiting on every shot makes it a course to avoid.
