great views of the resort. Photo submitted by Scott4497478 on 09/21/2012
enjoyed round
nice course, quality staff, on the grounds of a huge Marriott resort.
Disappointing course for Marriott
Pro shop was friendly but just a cluster of an operation and course was average at best for an Orlando course charging this price. When you drop your bag off you need to hit a button so someone finds you to then open a gate to park your car. Then you go to the driving range and its irons only. You can tell they tried to cram this course in its design while making sure as many hotel units as possible are on the property. Greens were crab grassy, and course was tight with water everywhere. The “Hawks Nest” where you get your golf course food and drink charged an arm and leg for anything and then they had no lids for their drinks. Nothing like $20 for a double air plane bottle to then have it spill while driving your cart. Food also was trash yet expensive. They should just put more hotels up and get rid of this course. No clue what people see in this place but if your at the hotel the convenience is nice for sure.
Hawks Landing was well worth it!
Very friendly and accommodating staff all around--as a single I was paired with a husband/wife two-some and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.....except for the #1 handicap 18th hole. The par 3 (174 yds) has an island green that's incredibly firm (let's call it rock hard). Hit what I thought was a perfect shot that landed on and rolled over green into water hazard. My only recommendation for this course is to water the 18th green thoroughly and consistently so that it accepts (and holds) balls that are well-struck. Other than that, a great experience!
Just ok
A lot of target golf. Some beauty holes. Dead fish fliating in pond. Nasty smell
Weeds in the greens
Weeds in the greens on half dozen holes and fairways very sparse in many spots. Not any where near the condition from pre Covid. For the price I expected much more. It used to have a great tough finishing par 5 which they turned into a par 3 Island green but from 180.
I won’t be back.
Clubs Stolen From Bag Drop
Greens rolling great. Fairways were mediocre. Pro shop was courteous. Layout is somewhat cramped and is being infringed by development..Evidently 18th hole has been redesigned to be an island green par 3 as opposed to par 5. Unfortunately a member of our group had his clubs stolen from the bag drop after our round was complete. Pro shop stated that this has happened before. If that is the case, why is there no warning provided by the club staff? One star rating because of this!
Water Water Everywhere at Hawks Landing
A nice layout with lots of water to challenge the golfer. Played in the afternoon and pace of play was at a snail’s pace with up to four groups on a hole at any given time.. There was no ranger in sight. We did not get to play the last three holes. Would suggest a morning tee time if you want to finish.
Disappointing stuff from Hawk’s Landing
Was very excited to play hawk’s landing; turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments in Orlando.
Cash is useless at this locality, pro shop, beverage cart girls, snack bar all require you pay with a card.
Additionally we found out that the drastically overpriced round is marked up an extra $50, as locals we had this tourist fee waived but one of our threesome was unable to get his round cost reduced as he had already paid and a long line had formed. We also watched on as the pro shop turned away one tourist who wanted to join his friends because the pro shop said they were too busy.
Meanwhile we ended up behind a group who waited for every green to clear, even on 400+yd par 4’s and par 5’s. It’s a shame the director of golf was collecting range ball buckets instead of ensuring a decent pace of play.
Course layout is odd overall, bunkers have too little sand pushed up on the faces to be playable with the concrete lining; no sense renovating the bunkers if you can’t afford to adequately fill them with sand (2” on the face, not a light dusting’.
Hole 18 the signature par 3 island has arguably the worst contoured green I have ever played on, not sure what the architect or crew who performed the renovation were thinking.
Return to hawked landing after covid
Having played, and enjoyed the course over the years,I was very disappointed with both course and amenities
They layout has changed and several holes which had make the course really good we’re either gone and replaced , altered
Being Very expensive I didn’t expect greens to have little tufts and fairways were patchy and bare in places
Finally
Except for a small free bottle of water, we had to pay $3 for any extra water
A slow 5 hours and a poor experience as staff seemed uninterested in us
Challenging but 2 bad holes
For the most part we enjoyed the golf course. My wife loved it with the ladies tees being very short. She had some trouble navigating around and over some the water hazards. For myself I thought the course was very challenging but came away disliking the course because of two poorly designed holes. 2 was a goofy double dog leg par 5 with a very difficult 2nd shot over water to a crowned fairway with water on both sides. 18 is an island green par 3 and for the length of the hole (I played from 165) The green is unfairly contoured giving a very small safe landing area that even the best golfers would have trouble hitting. Wouldn’t play the course again just because of 18.
