Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Wide manicured fairways
With all the recent rain, the fairways are green and cut low. Wide fairways and no forest makes for a fast round of golf.
Do not waste your money
I have been to some pretty bad courses in the past, and this one by far takes 1st place. There was no such thing as tee boxes, they were about 3 inch tall mix between weeds and grass (80% weeds). The “fairways” were literally worse condition than the rough. Could barely find your ball in the middle of the “fairway” because of how high the grass was. Will never come back
River Wilderness
We decided last minute to play, and found a course close to home. The price was right and included cart. We expected more from the course. Obviously with the daily rain it was soggy but at some points the fairways were sloppy and Marsh mud holes. The greens looked like they were being re-worked. Cart path was worse then a country back road with pot holes and roughness. Overall it wasn’t bad for the price. Pace of play was good and consistent. Will probably try to go again to see if the course conditions improve outside of our Rain soaked nights.
Good value
Golf courses in Florida are hard to judge in the summer months due to the abundance of rain.. With that said , I feel that I received a good quality golf course for the cost of the round.
Excellent Value, Nice Greens
Played using a ‘Hot Deal’, teeing off just before noon. Heavy rains night before, & morning of, our round left fairways waterlogged & sand traps unplayable. However, greens held up well & rolled true. Started raining, off & on, on front but we were able to get through 14 holes before lightning & storms forced us to quit. However, we would go back & find that the layout, & speed of greens, make this a very good value during Florida’s late summer slow season.
great course, not being maintained
This course has a really nice layout and has traditionally been a nice course at a fair price, so good value.
However, the fairways are going going to pot -- much crabgrass (or some other weed) and many tee boxes are a mess
Nice layout
This course is pretty, challenging, and has fast greens.
If the course could increase the maintenance budget it would be one to go back to again and again.
Of course it would cost more also, but it would be worth the extra that you would pay.
Right now the course also suffers from lots of summer rain, which can't be helped.
Swamp
Course was extremely wet, lost 4 balls in fairways because of water and muddy areas from rain. They should not have even opened the course this time.
Usually this is a good place to enjoy a nice round.
Pretty good.
Course was pretty good. However, I was surprised to see that someone took a dookie on the 9th green. It smelled really bad. Will return though.
Different kind of outlet maul
Only a few miles from the Ellenton Outlet Malls, River Wilderness is the place to go after dropping your husband or wife off for some shopping. The course is in beautiful surroundings and a pleasure to play. There is enough challenge that poorly-executed shots will see you "mauled." Definitely a place to return.
Great staff
Always a fun/ challenging day on the golf course @ RW. Staff is friendly and helpful.
River
pace was great.. drained well after earlier storms.
Greens not in best shape... fair amount of weeds in spots.
Love the layout
My golf partner and I really enjoyed playing River Wilderness. Played it for the first time last Friday and came back today. A few tee boxes were bare and some greens had crabgrass. Nevertheless, we loved the layout and hospitality of the staff
Always Fun!
Course had some challenging holes and it's always fun to play.
Vince
I played RW several times during last 2 years. This was first time in several months. Course conditions deteriorated considerably which may explain the $14;green fee. In the past it has been $30+ green fee.
The club is struggling financially and it showed the course is now weed infested in need of aerification. No available ice heat index was 105...
I doubt I will return to play even with a $14 green fee...
