Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Not bad
I played this course a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. It still has a nice layout but the maintenance has definitely slipped. The fairways are hit or miss, some tee boxes are pretty much just dirt. and there are weeds growing in a lot of the bunkers. The greens had recently been punched but that is necessary maintenance. However, the re was a fair amount of damage on the greens that had nothing to do with aeration. For what I payed, it was a good day but they definitely need to make a commitment to bringing this course up to snuff
Fun Course!
This was the first time playing at this course. Very nice course and as a newer golfer I really enjoyed the layout. There are challenging holes and fun holes but the whole course was great. The fairways are in good condition. The only negative was the irriation on the greens that were an issue but did not ruin the game. Highly reccomend!
Great value
Course was punched yesterday. The course was in good shape besides a few of the the tee boxes. They had the tee's moved up and that helped the score. We knew the greens were punched. however they had plenty of sand filling the holes. The course is always fun to play. And compared to other courses in the area it is in much better shape. Especially for the $15.00 aeration price.
Punched greens
Got a nice deal due to aerating the greens. Love the layout, and beat the rain. Will be back.
River Wilderness for the first time!
We've never played River Wilderness before... glad we finally did. Considering the lack of rain in the past month, the course was in great shape. One of the nicest course we've played in Florida.
Greens are excellent - somewhat fast but true, (which I like).
Disappointment
I've played this course a few times and this was the worst condition it has been in. Fairways have lots of bad areas (no grass) and several tee boxes were mostly dirt/sand. This use to be a better course than most in the area but it is now in similar condition but much more expensive than other courses. I was looking forward to playing this course and was very disappointed. Greens did roll good and were in good condition
Members screwed it up!
we were told at the golf course is being sold within the month. The members own it and apparently they have made some bad financial decisions and it is in crappy condition. The irrigation for most of the golf course doesn’t work. One of the tees has absolutely no grass on it it is 100% dirt. The fairways are rock hard and very brown. I used to work at this golf course as a kid and it was in wonderful shape! It is the complete opposite now.
Triscuit
Poor shape for one of the former premier tracks in the county.
Either hitting off dry sand or baked grass,
Greens OK
Another place sorely in need of rain.
Irrigation or water trucks would help
Long roll though off tee but a crap shoot on lies even in fairway.
Expectation
After reading some of the recent reviews I was expecting really bad conditions but I found the course very dry but playable. Greens are fairly nice, the fairways are very short and have a lot of browns. Tee boxes are a little tough, but all in all, we had a good time. I think I will wait till next year before I go back in hopes we get some water to bring the course back to a green condition.
Great place to place... a little dry
River Wilderness is always a great place. The course was in good shape accept that fairways seemed very dry. The greens were in good shape, fast and true.
Warren walka
Worst conditions I’ve ever seen this course in five years
Course is very dry and rough
Course was fun to play, but very dry and very rough on some tee boxes and fairways. Most greens were in good shape and fast.
disappointing
So I was looking forward to playing here cause I had heard good things. What a disappointment. The unfortunate thing is the course has potential, layout is good, not your typical FL course with houses crowding the fairway and limited trees, there were actually some interesting holes. But the conditions were just awful. Greens were actually quite good, but remainder of the course grossly neglected. Tee boxes and fairways were horrendous. One tee box had zero grass, it was literally teeing off from sand. Fairways were patchy at best and for the most part were like hitting off sandy concrete. What ever happened to fairway sprinkles? Add this place to the growing list of places I don’t plan to play again due to terrible conditions.
Enjoyed the layout.
A fun layout. Well designed, and knowledge of the course will make a difference in how I will play it next time
Afternoon Delight
The practice facilities here are awesome! Driving range, chipping area and large putting green are easily accessible. We teed off on time and pace of play was good. Course was in decent shape. Greens were consistent and fast. Several tee boxes on the back nine were in horrible shape but overall things were acceptable.
What?
I don't understand. The greens are in the best shape I have ever seen, but the rest of the course is abysmal. Tee boxes non existant. Fairways simply dead grass and hard pan.
Nice layout and amenties
This was the worse condition this course has been in the 2+ years we have been playing it. Many tees had no grass, the fairways were spotty and it is obvious there has been no water applied; especially to the rough which was mostly sand and dirt.
It is a shame.
