Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Great staff very helpful and great attitudes and course is kept
In good shape
Overall conditions
Showed up early but no starter, did not know who I be playing with. Had to go around asking other golfers what their tee time was.Greens had no grass just weeds
RIVER WILDERNESS - Bad Greens
This course was inexpensive so the " saying you get what you pay for" is true. I will not return. The greens were trash, horrible. It appeared that the course had not been watered in weeks. The back nine was better than the front but in general the course is not being maintained. Disappointed.
Not worth the money
Would not play again until the greens are fixed. All 18 greens are basically unusable. Layout is fun but course needs work.
The course is super dry all around. I was there about a month ago and heard that they recently rolled the greens and they were super fast and inconsistent. Today I heard that the irrigation system is broken. The greens are impossible.
The course was in poor condition. Greens were unputtable with very hard surface as grass was cut down to a fraction of an inch with weeds throughout. Appeared that greens hadn't been watered in months. Fairways were mostly green and in average condition but the fairway roughs was totally browned out and full of weeds. Areas around sand traps were full of sand. Tee boxes were in average condition. Several single and double pairings slowed the pace of play.
Greens were gone.
The greens were destroyed. It was like putting and chipping on asphalt. They should have told us prior to paying.
Greens
Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, but the greens were horrible. They were hard as a rock, with little tufts of grass growing up here and there. Any putts that had those tufts on your line made the putts bounce around and throw the ball off the line. I would NOT have paid $153 for me amd my buddy to play there had I known the greens were in that shape. I have no plans to play there again.
Play other courses
This course was in poor condition. The greens were burnt out and weedy. The areas around the greens were in horrible condition. a mixture of very little grass and sand.
It needs a lot of work.
Need grass
I've played this course in its heyday....
Back then pre COVID 2017
Today it's unplayable.
Greens are without grass.
Putting is like putting on a shuffle court.
The putted ball will roll off the green unless it fall in the hole
If you like putting on concrete, you will like this course.
Not one blade of grass on the greens.
Shut the course down and get it rebuilt.
overall good but slight disappointments
weather was perfect, sunny 70F, no wind, course in good shape, tee boxes perfect, fairways green and lush. But, rough was burnt in majority, greens were like hardwood floor, EXTREMELY fast, maybe a little too much. The most disappointing was yardage, they have gps on carts but distances and pin placement had 10 yards discrepancy. I voiced it after the round to the proshop and explanation was, the ground crew who installs the pins does not communicate their positions to the gps programmer in the morning, made no sense to me.
Still a great fun day, saw at least 5 gators (2 were particularly huge, 15 feet) and many turtles, will definitely go again at the price my wife and I were lucky enough to get thanks to golf now.

The Worst
This was undoubtly the worst course I have played in the state of Floirida. The greens where the absolute worst, the condition of the course was horrendous, I couldnt beleive that they actually have members who actually belong to this facility. I would never suggest anyone spend thoer money here, spend the extra money go to Waterlefe, River Club, Calusa, Azario....anywhere but here. I used thiis round as a practice round playing by myself I played 2 balls since I got stuck behind to members that were treating thier round as if they were play at Augusta and I still had to wait on them each hole. I cant beleive this place is stuill in business I now understand why I was able to get a tee time as easily as I did.
Great course
Course is well maintained. Fun to play. I sacrificed a ball to the creek due to alligators.
