Reunion Resort & Golf Club
About Reunion Resort & Golf Club
Originally developed by Bobby Ginn, Reunion makes a big impression, not just on first-timers but repeat visitors as well. All three golf courses - by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson - stimulate the senses, and the luxe lodgings range from hotel-style suites to rental houses with 10 or more bedrooms. Proximity to Disney makes Reunion particularly convenient for families with younger children and an avid golfer or two.Facts

Not the Bears best :(
I was really looking forward to playing this course and I came away disappointed in this course and can't believe it is allowed to keep the Nicklaus brand associated with it given its lack of maintenance. Conditions were poor especially greens which were slow and beat up. The course is tricked up and its a shame because it could be a great track if it allowed more options off the tee and into the greens. Its very obvious that Jack wants this course to play to a fade and most draws even down the middle are funneled into trouble. This is the one to skip if you're going to play Reunion. Watson and Palmer courses are so much better that you would not know that all 3 courses are related to the same property.
Great Design
We rented a house in Reunion the past week and wanted to take advantage of playing this Private facility with the guest pass included with our rental. The course design was excellent, to be expected from Nicklaus. We played it at a 135 slope. Nicklaus is a low handicap player course. Greens are very small and there is many elevation changes. Even if you are a scratch player your carry distance must be precise and executed very well in order to score well on this track. You really need to have your A Game in tact. Greens were excellent rolling at about 11 and smooth and true. Fairways were in good shape. There didn't seem to be much grass in the rough compared to all of the other courses we played in the past week. That being said with the windy hot conditions and small elevated greens this track was all we could handle without thick rough. Practice facilities were good with a chipping green, putting green, and driving range. there is no Restaurant or clubhouse just a plastic dome facility which I assume is a temporary plan. It was a treat to play this track once but it really was not good value for the money. Great layout but overpriced, beauty of a private facility.
Not ready for prime time
Beautiful resort. We played Watson the day before and it was 100 times better than this course. $209 for prime season and I have played better municipal courses. I am only wishing we would have played the Palmer course instead.
Should not even be open yet, does a disservice to his name.
Scottish skies for our Watson round
This was my first ever round on a Tom Watson design, so I was pretty curious to see what his style was like. Like a lot of spots in this part of Florida, the land itself was pretty nondescript, so a lot of shaping was done to add some drama. There are loads of bunkers out there, both waste areas and traditional, and they are often massive. Your sand game will certainly be tested many times. The greens are also multi-tiered and you really need to be dialed in with your approach shots or you'll be putting over big ridges.
The drive through wetlands on an elevated wooden bridge between the 17th green and 18th tee is a neat little touch to wrap up the round. The pace moved nicely despite a busy morning during PGA Show week, the bev cart came early and often, and the carts were equipped with GPS. Operationally this place was humming smoothly. I took advantage of the free valet.
So where does Reunion stack up in the Orlando resort scene? I think I prefer the nearby Championsgate setup a little more for daily-fee play thanks to a more golfer-focused 19th hole. But all-in-all this is a solid experience near Disney World. The Watson plays next to the Palmer course, and frankly, some of the holes looked really cool, and I found myself wondering if I was on the wrong course. Perhaps next time.
Great snowbird golf in Orlando
I haven't played the other courses at Reunion, so I can't compare the Watson to the others, but I can say you will enjoy this course.
It's mostly friendly off the tee with a few drives that force you to make a decision whether to take on bunkers or not (especially no. 9).
The condos/homes are mostly set back from the fairways, so they're not an issue for most. Decent movement of the land is highlighted by the elevated green on the par-3 15th hole. All in all, a top-class resort-course experience.
Very enjoyable test of golf
With plenty of room off the tee, the Watson Course could be the most playable of the three courses at Reunion Resort, and it's certainly as enjoyable as any of them. As you get closer to the green, however, this course does get more difficult, mainly because of the bunkers and sometimes difficult to read greens. Fairway bunkers also loom large on several holes, so you're going to want to avoid those, but with a little course management and directional control, that shouldn't be a problem. Simply put, it costs a little more to play here, especially in season, but it's a solid, enjoyable all-around golf experience.
Difficult course
Of the three courses at Renuion, this the most difficult. Fairways are not grown in as good as the Watson and Palmer. Course is long and green are not easy to read, lots of 3 putts.
Wonderful
One of top courses in area. I love it. No water, but lots of sand
ReUnion Resort Watson Course
12 noon tee time w/ wife. Only way I've found to play any ReUnion Resort course is their Stay & Play packages. My wife surprised w/ this for our Anniversary. The Watson Course clubhouse sits adjacent to the ReUnion Hotel. Has a very nice practice area: driving range, chipping green, & 2 huge putting greens. The Watson course is visually appealing from every tee box. Plush tee boxes, fairways, & greens. Every bunker is well sanded & there are hundreds of bunkers on this course. Greens are fast & roll true. Definitely should be on every golfers bucket list. Battery powered carts w/ GPS, windshield, & rain cover in back.
Nicklaus Wins...
I have heard nothing but good things about Reunion and I wanted to see what all of the hype was about. It was a scorching hot day in Orlando, luckily the carts had massive coolers and complimentary water bottles. There is no clubhouse, you have to get shuttled down to the range. The one bad thing is that we had to wait for a cart because they had a big outing going on all day. The new clubhouse appears to be going in next to the range. The practice area was very nice. As an avid golfer, I can say that this course definitely tests your patience and skill. I happened to find myself in a few of the hundreds of bunkers throughout the course. The sand was immaculate. The greens rolled pretty well, a few had some crabgrass patches, but nothing to really complain about. Very scenic and well worth the money.
Immaculate & scenic Resort course
The Nicklaus course in Reunion doesn't have a Club house yet. Has a large tent that you check in at. Informed that a Clubhouse and/or Pro Shop will be built close to practice area in near future. Practice area is nice w/ driving range, putting & chipping green. The course is spectacular. Breath taking views from tee boxes on all the holes. Everything is plush & immaculate: tee boxes. fairways. greens & all the bunkers. Greens are also fast. Battery powered carts have GPS as well as windshield & rain cover in back. Don't know how much my wife paid for this round, part of 2 day stay package my wife booked for our anniversary. Seems only way to play Reunion Courses are to stay & play.
Palmer Course
The Palmer course at Reunion is not your typical Florida golf course. Very hilly. This course has a great track and is well maintained. However, I like the Nicklaus and Watson courses better. The Palmer course is the shorter of the three, only running at 6,916 from the tips. Hole 7 is Reunions signature hole. It is a risk reward shot. If you are a long ball hitter, than going for the green is manageable on the short 290 yd par 4. I am a member at Reunion and have never had bad service. The guys in the pro shop are great and the starters are too. The courses are always in great shape. If you play at Reunion, I'm sure you will be back.
Fun resort course
This is a course in which you have to stay at to play. Palmer track is fun and you can have holes where you don't need the driver. #7 is a picturesque signature hole on this course.
Some greens needed a little love but overall course was in great shape.
I was playing in a 4-ball tournament and the course was backed up because of it. I'm sure Pace of Play is in good shape.
My team also won, so I will be back to the Reunion Resort. Hopefully, it will be to play another track.
Watson One of three terrific courses at Reunion
There are three really good courses at Reunion Resort near Orlando, but the Watson Course might be my favorite. I love the look of this course, which is sort of windswept with interesting bunkers, doglegs and greens complexes. Plus, it's designed by Tom Watson, who doesn't have nearly as many courses to his credit as do Nicklaus and Palmer, who did the other two courses at Reunion. Like the other two courses, the Watson Course is also always in terrific shape.
Good conditioned, but a quirky layout
To start, Reunion is a fabulous resort - first class all the way. Its really a pretty place. That said, I believe this is the lesser of the 3 courses. Its short and has some pretty crazy undulations in the fairways. While it is short, its not particularly easy - fair amount of sand and water. The day we played, it poured rain all morning and the course drained quite well throughout the day. Overall, it a good facility, an OK course, but quite spendy (I paid $175).
Condition and service worth the price!
As a resort course, you have to be a member or guest of the resort to play, but it really is worth it.
Mr Watson loves a bunker as other reviewers said, with around 120 in play. What i love though is that they are not a gimmick, and are positioned perfectly in terms of landing areas etc. The greens are in great shape, and the elevation changes make this course feel different to anything i have played resort wise in Florida.
Great track, great condition, and great service! Well done Reunion...you have made me want to come back! What more can you ask for!
Resort golf at its best
The Palmer course at Reunion Resort is classic resort golf. The course is fairly wide-open, fairly forgiving with not a lot of out of bounds which makes it very playable for the average golfer. You will run into a lot of bunkers and hundreds if not thousands of humps in the fairways and on the greens. My best recommendation for you, especially off of the tee, is to watch your ball until it stops rolling, it could end up anywhere off of the mounds. You can easily hit a drive down the right side of the fairway and it could end up in the left rough due to these humps and mounds everywhere. If you want an enjoyable round of golf wherr you're not going to slam your club in the ground or walk off angry this is the course for you
Best Course in Orlando!
Extremely impressed with the Reunion course (Palmer). A Group of us played and loved the huge elevation changes that you don't see much in Florida.
Excellent greens, excellent layout. Challenging but fair.
Will definitely come back to Reunion to play all 3 courses there!
Reunion's 2nd Best course
Watson barely beat out Mr. Palmer for the 2nd best course on the Reunion property. I felt like Tom's time in Scotland made him like bunkers because when you play this course... you're bound to find one.
Lots of character to the par 5's. I think the 11th hole is one of the prettiest looking holes from the tee - a great par 4 with some teeth with not too much length. Another atrribute of Tom's game can be seen by his focus on accurate driving - if you don't drive it straight, you're in trouble.
I really enjoyed the greens as they were rolling nicely but needed to remind my fellow players (not in my group) to fix your ball marks! There were a few to be found.
It's worth the drive.
Reunion's 3rd Best course
I'd rather play Watson or Nicklaus' course than Arnie's. While I like many of the holes on the course and enjoy playing a course not completely surrounded by houses... this course left me wanting more.
I don't want to completely slam the course - great greens and well maintained fairways, bunkers and teeing grounds.
The 18th hole closing hole is a disservice to golf architecture. The fairway runs out after 250 yards.... leaving me a downhill approach to an uphill green. The 11th and 12th holes are a little bland. I enjoyed my time on the course but like the rest of Reunion a lot better.
