Very nice course
This course is absolutely beautiful.
Great afternoon of golf
Played June 21st at 3:35 PM for $90. Played in <3 hrs with son as twosome with new Taylor Made M2 rentals. Driving range was closed but it's more important to practice putting and chipping. I'm 54 with an 8 handicap and not a long hitter. Played the mixed tees.
What followed was a thoroughly enjoyable and challenging round of golf. Par 4s and 5s challenging and par 3s playable. Greens still had some sand from aeration 3 weeks ago but rolled well. Very firm and had a few good shots roll off the back until I got used to them. Fairways in great shape. Water on so many holes wears you down by the time you're midway through back 9. Must be accurate off the tee. Shot 39-43 and very happy.
Staff was great. I would definitely play again.
This course could be so much more!
The tees boxes need to be marked with the yardage. The card has them marked, in very tiny print, by the way, but when you walk up to the tees, there are no yardage markers, so you have to guess exactly how long the hole is, which is lame.
What an experience!
I have nothing less than superlatives for our round on Dye's Valley Course. The course is in excellent shape. The staff was helpful, considerate and cordial.
There was nothing less than excellent and that made for a great day.
Thanks to the staff and management.
June 2016
TPC Valley Course was in good shape. Fairways were still a bit sandy after having been aerated just over a week ago, but the greens were in excellent condition. We played in the morning and enjoyed the round so much, we played again in the afternoon. The staff could not have been friendlier and was very accommodating. I can't wait to see how the Stadium Course greens and course changes come in this November.
Top notch experience
While I was disappointed that the Stadium course was closed until November 2016, the Dye Valley course was truely a challenging and beautiful course. The staff and amenities were top notch. You've got to experience this one!
The Valley Course returns
Things were bad for a while but with they have worked hard to improve conditions here. The greens are finally growing. They have patched the problems pretty seamlessly. They look healthy. The rest of the course is very good. The fairways are perfect. We played in 4:10
I really enjoyed it. This is a real Dye gem. no walk in the park. Play the white tees. They'll give you plenty of interest.
Stadium Course closed until November 2016
The Stadium course is getting new greens, Practice Area, Parking Lot, new Main Drive up to the Clubhouse and some other changes.
It sure will be a diferent look.
A Disgrace
The pace of play is ridiculous. They had a 24 man beer fueled bachelor party on the course this morning plus a bunch of other dimwits who had no respect for anyone else on the course. Grated the rangers finally got the mess cleared up after 10 holes but there is no excuse for this. And then there is the condition of the greens. They got some ugly looking fungus growing , bald patches, shoddy replacement patches. The place was closed for 6 months last year to improve them. It's a mess. The "members" are getting a very poor deal here and the resort folks are surprised at the poor conditions.
Great Course!
We happened to catch the Stadium Course on an extremely windy afternoon. So needless to say it was really tough sledding out there.
This course is not a wide open bombers course. It's a strategic and accuracy driven course. Even from the blue tees, it's not scary long...but you have to hit the fairways! Fairways is the key to playing well here. You can attack greens with short irons if you hit the fairways. If you don't hit fairways...you're hitting out of pine straw, sand, out from under trees, or a thick rough...or maybe even dropping cause you hit the water.
But the experience is great. Great staff up front, AWESOME practice facilities (make sure to hit a few shots out of the sand bunker onto the range...you'll need a few of those shots for your round), and just an overall beautiful property.
I'd recommend getting there 2 or 3 hours early, eating lunch on the patio, browse the clubhouse/locker room, putt and chip, then hit a bucket...and get after it.
We walked and our caddies were okay. They were both young, and took pride in their job...it was just a tough day on everyone with the windy conditions.
This is not a course that will wow you with views like a Pebble or Whistling Straits, so don't expect that. That would be my only complaint...is that they charge the same rate as those places, but the course doesn't have a huge wow factor. It's just a really skinny, challenging course. 16, 17, and 18 are 3 of the coolest holes you can play in the US...so really soak those in. Enjoy!
Perfect fairways
The course was in pretty good shape, the fairways were the best fairways I have every played, but the greens had a lot of rough spots, but rolled pretty good. The staff is very friendly. The course has a lot of water and had very tight fairways with big greens. I think it is a little bit over priced because of the greens.
Decidedly average. ..
Nothing special greens were beat up and course layout didn't excite me
Enjoy this one after Stadium Course
After playing the "icon" last year in the Stadium Course on my return to the area this year I made it a point to go back and see what the Valley course had to offer. Yes it does not get the hoopla that it's big brother gets but as for a golf course design, difficulty is there ,scenery is everywhere, greens are great, and overall conditions were fine for winter months. I would love to play this place in full season for grasses. Anyways think about your handicap before you start and don't think this is a push because it has no bleachers or island. The design offers many challenges based on placement of water, bunkers both fairways and greenside. Fairways are fair and have many pot type bunkers of grass and moguls for challenging your stance. Greens were rolling just fine and my est. would be about 11 on the meter. This part of TPC offers much more serenity, plenty of world class treatment and golf that you will enjoy and remember. I highly recommend that if you play Stadium you should also play the Valley to take in everything Pete Dye and the PGA has to offer you.
One of the best finishes in golf
There are obviously a lot of high hopes coming into a day at TPC Sawgrass...and the facility did not disappoint. The day starts with an impeccable clubhouse and a great practice facility. Like many golfers, I grew up playing the course a thousand times on video games before I finally made it to the track. The entire day is enjoyable, and you'd be hard pressed to find 3 better finishing holes. I made a classic bogey on 17...first tee shot in the water, then stiffed the next one. Go figure.
Worth it for any golfer to enjoy.
Pricy but well worth it
Hardest course that I've ever played. Pete dye punishes you when you hit a bad shot. Forecaddie helped because of the cart path only rule. They take very good care of the course and the conditions are perfect. Also the staff are very helpful and kind
fantastic
Played it with my friend and absolutely loved it.The forcaddie,Jason, was phenomenal. He new every blade of grass on the golf course and was a great guy.We played the white tees which was challenging enough.Course was in great shape and greens were smooth and fast. You sure can get in a lot of trouble if you don't have your A game, which fortunately I did.The 3 signature hole,16,17,and 18 I played in double bogey, par, par, which was exciting but I/m glad I hit 17 and 18th greens in regulation.Pricey, but worth it
Only go to say you have played 17.
Fore Caddy great helpful and good at reading greens.Pro shop and clubhouse staff v pleasant and accommodating.Other than that very disappointing.definitely not worth the money other than to check off bucket list to say you have played 17.Course has had a lot of water recently so will give it the benefit of the doubt. Not being able to get carts on course at any point really detracts from the experience.Clubhouse very nice and sitting on patio with view of 18 wonderful (only hole that looks like it does on TV).
Nice course but lacking natural course beauty -looks very residential
Nice course - great greens and difficult. Requires a solid tee ball put in play each hole -otherwise the 3rd cut rough will eat the ball alive. I played 3.5 weeks before the Web.com championship and after a week of 13+ inches of rain - there was no roll and the rough was already tall being grown out and lack of mowing due the rain.
Overall all I like the course but didn't expect to see so many houses.
Poor playing conditions
This course has a great layout, however the course was so wet, the "cart paths only" rule was in effect. It was so wet that balls were plugging in the fairways and roughs. The course was almost unplayable. However, the greens fee was not discounted to compensate for the poor playing conditions.
Great Experience!!!!
Every golf enthusiast needs to play this course at least once. It was a fantastic experience! From the practice range to the 18th green, it was an unforgettable round. Price is definitely steep, but worth it for an avid golfer who watches the Players every year and wants the full tour experience. Course was in great shape, but you can tell it gets a lot of rounds on it. I would recommend taking a forecaddie as they really help with the sight lines and finding your ball in the deep rough (sinks right to the bottom every time). Truly an unforgettable experience and I would definitely return someday!
