Course in great shape
Course is in much better condition that last time I played here.
Pace of play was refreshing
Haven’t played here in a couple of years. I’m glad I did. The greens were in great shape, rolling fast and true. A heavy storm had come through with wind and rain The night before and you could hardly notice just a few holes being slightly impacted. Truly the best thing, was the pace of play. This area usually suffers from extremely slow golf from out of state visitors and we finished our round with a foursome in just over 3.5 hours. Highly recommend a fast, quality round of golf at this course.
Good turf and greens
Nice round on well maintained course. The fairways were nicely mowed and drives rolled well. They have cutback some of the surrounding brush to maintain good margins. The greens were fast despite showing some remediation efforts. Pace of play was 4.25 hours (4:15) and everyone on the course was friendly. First timers allow an extra 5-10 minutes travel time due to gated entry and long access drive with slow speed limits.
Great test of golf, tight
Driving at a premium. Only complaint was damp in front of greens , ball would not advance on to green. Greens are firm and fast, putt well.
Great Outdoors Golf Course
One of the best courses in the area! Greens and fairways are in great shape. Challenging holes and some really fun ones as well! Biggest gator I’ve seen in Florida on hole 13! Prices are very competitive!
Good time
We enjoy this course. It's very busy so expect slow play, however we have been paired with other couples that make our game so much more enjoyable. Owen the gator hangs out on hole #9. He's huge!
Tee boxes could be in better shape. Greens were in very nice condition and putted true. It rained most of the round which made things difficult.
don't play this time of year
A retirement RV park this time of year is absolutely full of golfers with nothing else to do. There were players waiting at every tee box, standing on fairways and others putting out. Wait until at least April....conditions at the course were quite good, fast greens and good maintenance in general , good gas carts and beverage cart do duty. There is water everywhere, some to carry, slightly narrow fairways but overall a nice course to play. If it has been raining don't go as the ground gets very soft and balls plug constantly...you'll be surprised at the homes
Slow play.
The pace of play was extremely slow. We were waiting on every tee box. Totally lost any rhythm. There were 4 ladies who were totally oblivious to anyone else on the course. When I asked about a ranger, I was told they never use one because they don't want to upset any property owners. Also, the greens were over watered. The fringes were like an over soaked sponge. Any ball that landed near the green just stuck right there. I won't be back.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Great Outdoors RV & Golf Resort. We hope to see you again soon.
Good course for the price
Staff was great. Very friendly.
Paid $27 on Golfnow. As our tee time was after12 we actually got to capitalize on two of the many $20 vouchers we have earned from Golf now. Tee times on Golfnow after 12 noon are few and far between. $20 Vouchers from Golfnow are only good Monday to Thursday before noon. Can’t figure out why GOLFNOW has so many 1152 tee times. Lol Go figure. We golf a lot so although Golfnow has so many restrictions to use the vouchers you earn it has been worth while. .
So we paid a net of $7 each to play. Great deal. So make that 10 stars for value.
Even for $27 for prime season in Florida it was very good valve for the money.
Conditions were a little wet. Greens held well and ran too true. Fairways were in great shape. Did not need to roll your ball to find grass. Generous landing areas , unless you pull the ball. I have Always had trouble reading greens when they break up hill. Local knowledge. I guess.
We Played with a wonderful couple who now live in South Carolina. (Bob and Cindy). A Vietnam navy vet and retired state trooper from Maryland. He had many interesting stories and and we had very enjoyable round.
Great Condition
course condition is as good as the Disney courses. Tightest course I believe I've ever played. Water, Water and Water! Just a great layout.Total control necessary, BUT, only if you count your strokes.
Hidden Gem
This overlooked out of the way course is one of my favorites. Plenty of water to contend with, but fairways are wide enough that you don't get wet very often. I play this course at least one a month, often two times a month.
Don't Miss It
We teed off at 11:45 am and the sun was shining brightly. The temperatures were perfect for golf. We had a foursome in front of us that moved along quite well, with very little wait time. Our round was thoroughly enjoyed, as the course is in wonderful shape for winter. The greens were running true, but, needed a good read to sink the putts. The overall condition of the fairways was good and the tee blocks were good, too. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Don't miss this course to play and don't forget to check their pro shop. Many things on sale and a good selection for both men and women. We will play here again...no doubt about it.
Quick start went downhill quickly.
Booked with GolfNow with no issues. We showed up well before our tee times and were told we would be next behind a foursome. As we were waiting in line, the starter told us that we could move in front of the foursome as they were waiting for another group of 3 to join them. After our group of three hit our first balls well down the fairway, the starter comes racing towards us in his cart notifying us that now we have to move to the side and let this group of 7 players play through. It made no sense as we would have easily stayed well ahead of them. This group of 7 all came through with not one single of them thanking us ( they were all a group of old cranky residents who obviously had e.d. Issues). 40 minutes to play the first hole is not acceptable. It is clear that in this course, residents take priority over GolfNow players. This was our first and last time on this course. Don’t waste your time or money here.
