Hole #8 - Par 5 - "Empire" Photo submitted by Shawn2245237 on 03/08/2013
Great Course but set low expectations for everything else
Loved the course. It’s very challenging. When it comes to expectations on the things you’d traditionally tip for, they’re just going through the motions. I tipped the guy who brought my hot dog to me over an hour after ordering. It had been prepared immediately but delivered late $20. I dropped it in the trash on the next hole. So disappointing for the most expensive hot dog of my life. $21 for a hot dog and fries and $20 to the courier and it’s like it came from a refrigerator. After the round I tipped another $20 to the guy who would normally clean the clubs. It wasn’t like most clubs where they’re clean afterwards. I’ll clean these myself since he didn’t. It’s kind of not fair to leave a review like this because I didn’t speak up about any of this. I just would expect better at these prices. Maybe my $20 tip is like stiffing them and I get what I deserved for being cheap? I still have it four stars because of the quality of the course.
Ate in long for lunch
Only one sever all day
He did great but would have expected more severs to better serve everyone
Tough Course - Bring your A Game!
Played in 25-30 mph wind. Tough course in the wind. Bunkers are on the penal side. Greens have steep falloffs on sides and behind (often with water behind!). So your iron play has to be sharp. Gotta be on your game here.
Course was in very good condition. Greens were great.
As Expected
WA did not disappoint in any way, course in great shape, pace of play was good finishing near 4hrs, staff very friendly and professional in their approach. Green fees a little on the high side but found a “Hot Deal” price that was acceptable to my wallet.
Great Course But Pricey
Course was in excellent condition and staff was excellent. Wide fairways were very forgiving, soft white sand was playable and greens were true.
The lake style water hazards added to the challenge and beauty of the course.
Very tough Reese Jones layout
First I must say the new rye grass is coming in nicely. The fairways were soft and the greens were firm and held proper approaches. The new bunkers are very difficult. Once the sand settles and firms up they will be less difficult.
We played the championship tees during our round before the PGA show. The bunkering by Reese Jones makes this course difficult. Every hole other then the par 3s you have to make a choice. Lay back off the tee and have 190 or more into an elevated green with bunkers ready to catch a wayward approach or take on the bubkes and execute a near perfect drive between or over them. Your reward is a short iron and the ability to attack the pin.
Overall this is a very fun course. It would have been too easy from the white tees allowing us to bomb drives over all the trouble.
The facilities are great and the staff was friendly.
We would return!
Wonderful service
Frist, the service I got is EPIC. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Bacon BBQ Buger is A+.
Second, relly nice course in good condition. Very pretty with a variety of holes, but it was not too tough which made it fun. It was beautiful with a variety of holes including some with cenotes as well as lakes. Shot 71, will come back and try to break par.
Great Staff. Good people. Course is overpriced
The staff is wonderful. The food is ok. Grab and go is pathetic. The server was not good either. Valets are excellent.
The golf staff was good. Starter was excellent. Course is in decent shape. They are doing some work on it. It’s a nice track and the course overall is a B. but way way overpriced If you are going to charge the rates the course needs to be in better shape.
There are other courses for less in much better shape. Sorry
Excellent greens
Great service overall from the valet parking, pro shop staff and club cleaning. Course in great condition, greens are in excellent shape, staff super friendly.
A must play course
One of the best courses I've every played on. The staff was A+++++. I will definitely be back
Book the round
This is a lovely course, service is TOP NOTCH, looking forward to returning~!
Pace of Play matters
The course in the second week of December is really green. They have over seeded and it looks great. The greens are a touch hard but not an issue if you can spin the ball. The bunkers have a ton of sand in them so depending on how you play bunkers, that could be good or bad. They make 4 holes each day cart path only to help the grass grow in.
Now for the big issue. $165 which is fine since it is a resort course in good shape. However it was 3 hours and 10 mins before we teed off on 11. We did end up finishing in just over 5 hrs but by 11 it was hard not to be checked out. Waiting on every shot. What was so frustrating was it felt like even though we called and talked to the PA, they just didn’t care. Im not sure how much they can really do but it was almost an attitude of it is what it is. No empathy at all. If you are going to charge $150+ then have 10 min tee times. Or charge $185-$200.
We played Orange County the next day and their PA was on the course pushing everyone to a fair pace. (Only paid $115) We saw the PA 5 times. I think that helps a lot.
Waldorf Course was pretty but we will not be back. I guess since it’s so close to Disney they can get away with the super slow rounds.
