Magnolia still in transition

Elected to play Magnolia with hot deal and knew the last few holes were still being reworked. Given that, Magnolia can still be a top notch course but I thought the greens and overall appearance is not to Disney standards. Greens were slower than I expected and had more than a few blemishes.

Given the price I paid, it was still a value. I won’t rush to go back until it is completed.

Course Modifications

The Magnolia is one of my favorites in Orlando. Unfortunately they were working on a few holes and change the layout. If you have the option. I would wait until they complete their works before playing there.

Great course, worth the cost

Played here for the first time. Rented clubs and had an 8:30 tee time. Pace of play was great (less than 4 hrs) and the course was in awesome conditions. Best bunkers I’ve ever seen and greens were fast and rolled true.

Only negatives are: very poor selection of rental clubs available, and the GPS on the cart broke on the final 3 holes. Expensive course, but worth the price. Was shocked to see tax charged for the tee time. In California we don’t pay taxes on green fees, it’s just the fee and that’s it. Added an extra $20+ that I wasn’t expecting.

Well designed challenge

First time playing Disney Palm after playing Disney LBV. Palm is a more traditional golf course that will test your skills having hosted PGA events in the past. Interesting historical signs at each tee box. The last 5 holes are a treat, well designed scenic and tough. Pace of play was very slow and didn't get 18th hole in but at $60 what a bargain.

Nice Course in Good Condition

Only gave the course layout 3 stars because it comes too close to housing (villas & treehouses). The rest of the course was great and well maintained. The driving range quite small.

Very average course

The best part of this course was the staff, very friendly and helpful. The putting area was excellent as well. As for the course it was very average from layout to course maintenance. Greens where slow, good driving range, fairways were not in great shape.

Greens not in good shape. Slow.

Course under construction, was supposed to receive a discount, never happened.

Certainly not up to Disney standards.

Forgettable layout

When I started the temperature was 60 degrees, sprinkling rain and very windy. It was 20 degrees cooler than the day before, and I wasn't dressed warmly enough for the front 9. By the back 9 it became sunny, but still windy.

I played the yellow tees. The tee boxes were in good shape, well covered with grass, but on several holes there was only one yellow marker and on one hole there were no yellow markers at all.

The fairways were only thinly covered with grass. This led to tight muddy lies and the fairway didn't offer much advantage over the matted-down rough. The lack of coverage may have to do with recent wet weather, but I read reviews saying other courses in the area don't have the same problem. Wispy, muddy fairways always make me think the course isn't draining well and conjure images of underfunded munis. LBV shouldn't be underfunded, given the high greens fees.

The bunkers had very little sand in them; this made getting out of fairway bunkers easy but made greenside bunkers very difficult until I resorted to a chipping stroke. I wonder whether rain has washed the sand out of the bunkers.

I thought the greens were in good condition and the ball rolled smoothly.

The layout is forgettable. It's flat and unimaginative - nothing leaps out as a clever use of terrain and it doesn't seem much earth was moved to make the course more interesting.

LBV is fine for a round of golf if you're at Disney for the parks and want a break, but it's not a course to play for a golf trip.

Slow greens

The greens were painfully slow. We were told that the maintenance crews used the wrong grass cutters on the greens the week before and scalped them. They had to let the greens grow and will cut them to a proper length so they can roll better(around a 10 on the stimp meter) again.

Disney Oaks Golf course

Course was in good shape and lay out was fine. Play was slow due to a six some in front of us. 2 45 to do 9 holes. Not sure how that happens. For that reason I didn't enjoy the round as much as I should have.

Fun and Fair

Disney LBV course definitely has a theme park feel as it winds through the resort complete with tourist boats passing by golfers at a couple of the tee boxes. The course was in good condition, a bit wet in spots, well designed and presents a fair challenge. Just managed to get 18 holes completed before dark so $US60 was a real bargain.
