I'll Be Back
K and B is a fun course and multiple tee options allow you to make it as challenging as you want. The greens were true and quick. My one question is why ring every green with a collar of grass that a) doesn't match, b) is three times greener than any other grass on the curse, and c) is a new kind of hazard I've never encountered before. Putting from off the green was next to impossible as the collar was a different height than either side of it. Hopefully it will grow in and blend in as the other grasses grow this summer.
Bucket List, and worth the visit
Ok so played the sister/brother course in the morning. Had the proshop book us for their double play. Both courses for one price. They booked us two tee times and gave us time for lunch. We were fine in the morning pace was great, in the afternoon at King and Bear, it was obviously overbooked..the group in front of us was two 4-somes that played as an 8 some. They slowed the course down a lot, over a 5 hr round. No course rangers to keep pace of play, called pro shop, and seemed very unconcerned about pace of play. We asked for cart girl to come out and she did met up with us by the next hole. We saw her a ton on front 9. Just be prepared to play a slow round here, especially if it's afternoon. They have a lot of groups play both courses. Worth the wait great layout, lots of water, challenging. but not too hard. Put it on your bucket list you will not be disappointed. I PROMISE
Bucket List Course Book this course now
Ok so I was told and read this was a bucket list course. It was designed by Snead and Sarzen..and well it is a great track. l loved the layout. It is decent long from the black tees. 6600 I think . I was hitting them straight today off the tee so made this a very enjoyable round. Play this course pick the right tees and you will love the layout. Greens were money, plush and green. Fairways were nicely taken care of. Only one tee box needed some TLC, but for it being early spring the course was in good shape. It rained cats and dogs the night before and the course was fine in the morning.
Great golfing experience with a Hot Deal at WGV.
Used a Hot Deal voucher & it was a great experience. We had an 8am tee time, and had the range & the course to ourselves. Twosome, played in 3 hrs.
Greeted in the parking lot by friendly & helpful staff, & the check-in in the pro shop was a breeze. Starter was friendly, & said we could tee off as soon as we are ready.
The course conditions were excellent (I've played her 5-6 times now, & this was the best conditions I've experienced here).
One suggestion is to add GPS to the carts.
Will keep my eyes open for a future Golf Now Hot Deal for the Slammer & the Squire.
Course in great shape.
Ony bad experience we had is we couldn't play as twosome. After we found starter he said to busy an we were paired up.The problem I have with this there was a twosome in front of us an a twosome behind us.Also while playing we notice there was more than one twosome behind us.We were so upset we almost didn't play last nine.Really didn't help our game either. We played other courses in the area an starters worked us in as twosome. We will probably never go back.
Still a great course
Was a member here and at King & Bear for 6+ years. Glad to get back. You will not find better courses in area unless you want to pay top dollar for TPC Sawgrass. Nice layouts and in very nice condition - had played 5 other course previous week further south in FL and it was nice to finally see grass instead of sand and burnt up weeds.
Practice facility at both courses excellent.
Only slippage seems to be in the food service in clubhouse. Wife had breakfast and I had lunch and both were underwhelming.
Excellent Course
Played in 3.5 hours. The course was in great shape both greens and fairways. Would recommend it to all that visit the Golf Hall of Fame.
Great Layout
The King and the Bear bring the creative course designs of Nicklaus and Palmer together. If enjoy challenging length and strategic shot making this course will deliver! Excellent staff, facilities, course conditions
Greenskeeper Speedy Gonzalez
Holy cow were these greens slick. I took 10 feet out of my first putt and I needed to take out another 10. Course is in excellent shape and the rough has thinned out a little by the cold so you can catch some breaks there. I'd just like them to rig the greens again next time so I can get 3 birdies in 4 holes regularly. Little pricey, but such is life during Snowbird Season.
Do this one
Multiple tee points let you set the course for your game...do this correctly and you'll have a wonderful time. Excellent condition with great greens and a fine overall layout. Would play again for sure.
Very nice course
My brother in law and I played this course as a "Hot Deal" on golfnow.com. Paid $59 each including cart. Outstanding value at this price. Very nice course. Scenic layout with virtually no homes on course. Had 0959 tee time on a Friday and sailed around course with no one in front or back of us. Fair amount of sand and water, so have to use your head, but plenty of room for safe shots. Course in excellent condition. Would definitely play again.
Great resort course
The wind was steady at 30 and gusts to 45 made for a tough day. The course was still in good condition and the greens were receptive. The course is on the expensive side, but worth it, if only once.
Great experience
Looked forward to playing the course for a few years. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The course is very golfer friendly, no matter what set of tees you care to play. The condition was very good. Greens were fast, but fair. Recommend this place for a good round.
Give me a break
Our foursome played from 3 different boxes-Mens, Seniors and Womens. We were warned about playing too slow because we were 12 minutes behind pace by the time we reached the 14th hole. In other words- less than 1 minute late per hole played. Give me a break!
Good layout
Poor weather....windy and cold, but course was good!
King and Bear
Good course. typical Nicholas design. greens hard to read at first.
Typical Overpriced Resort Course
My golf partner and I figured that the course would be in great shape and the greens were. Other than that, the price was a little high for the type of course conditions and layout we played. This is a $50 track....NOT $80
Staff made the difference! I got lucky!
Well conditioned course tee to green. Memorable golf. Greens are undulated and tricky which I like. Many of holes in natural setting and not too much construction on the course, although I noticed there was a big plot cleared for future development and some of the course is played under the shadow of the world golf hall of fame. I prefer this course to the King and Bear because it is less developed currently.
Value: the reason for the ranking was my experience this particular day. Playing as a single the starter made the experience by putting me on the back nine first ahead of all the traffic. I played a relaxed 3 hour round never being on the same hole as another group all day. This allowed me to get in the zone as well as take in the natural setting and wildlife. To me...this was worth every penny of the discounted greens fees of golf now. Would the course be a good value at $159...absolutely not.
Cheers
Top Shelf - Under Construction Florida Resort Course
Tee to Green, well designed...some memorable holes...greens/tees in great condition...fairways pretty good....rough penal as it should be. Only turf issue was fringe...with greens rolling pretty well, should be able to putt or chip from fringe...not the case today...fringe thick...nearly impossible to putt with any speed control from even 1foot off.
Under Construction: Where this course really falls short of the $179 asking and even the $89 golf now deals is the environment surrounding the course. I have played great golf across the country and what stands out to me is premiere golf in a natural setting. I could only recall 2-3 holes tops that were not lined with houses/condos/thru roads. Too be clear; the homes are not right on top of you...and are nice...but they are present at every turn. What makes the setting even less appealing is the ongoing construction of new houses/condos on several of the holes.
It's too bad...this course on a natural Florida wilderness setting would command the current rates. Hope this review helps your decision to spend your golf dollars. I would play Slammer and Squire if deciding between the two.
Great track
Great condition, wonderful staff, and playable layout. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed the pairing, range, and putting green all in great condition. Thanks
