Well maintained course-excellent greens
Would recommend. Different tees allow various handicaps to play at their level. It is a good value at $89 rate, but not $169. Very cordial staff and good warmup facilities. Enjoyed very much.
Ice Cold Apples!
Played 6,100 yards. Very Fair. WYSIWYG. No hidden hazards. Greens in great condition. Loved the Ice Cold Apples in the Barrel at the turn.
Greens roll true
Played the King and Bear late last year and had been looking forward to the Slammer. Fairways mowed tight and ball got very good roll. Greens in very good condition. Traps had adequate sand. Not as scenic as the King and Bear. Ok value with the discount. In my opinion, not worth the retail price.
Well trained staff & well maintained
The course @ 6132 yds.from blue and rated at 69.2/121 seems a little easy for 10/12 HDCP. The longest par 3 was 161 yds. I suggest some players move to the black tees at 6660 yds. For a more challenging round.
Range, towels amenities were good. They do have apples on #1 & 10, get them early. They do not replenish , we asked when barrel empty. Staff and cart guys helpful.
The course is definitely a resort layout, in better then good shape. Speed of play really slowed on the back 9, and we saw no Apparent reason for it. No GPS, which I prefer, they usually slow down play with players walking back and forth to look at the screen again. The sprinkler heads are so well defined with Front, middle & back you don't need it.
If you don't get to play well maintained courses much this is one to play, only on a deal. Hot Deal @ $79.00 was steep I thought. It's more in the $40/$50 range.
Lots of interesting designed holes
We decided to play the White tees which measure just under 6000 yards. The Blues play at just under 6600. That would have been a bit much for some of us. Wish they had a set of tees somewhere in between. Course was in very good shape, but I wouldn't call it "pristine", especially the greens. I thought they were a little bit slow, probably due to a recent aeration. They were playable though. The green fee is steep; however, we got a discounted rate via golfnow.com. Issue is that the number of available discounted tee times is very limited, and the earliest was late morning.
Really nice course.
Great in a aspects! Staff was awesome. Course was in pristine condition. Get there early to take advantage of the range and chipping green. Will definitely play this course more often.
first rate course as one expects
full rack rate is a bit over priced. look for the golf now hot rate and it's worth it.
Fun course
This course was in great shape. Plenty of run to hit the fairway. Friendly staff. Would play again
Very nice course.
Course was in excellent condition. Staff from check in to starter to ranger were all very friendly. Pace of play could be improved as we waited at almost every tee. You will have to be able to play your tee shots left-right or right-left depending on the hole. Greens are quick and the breaks are deceiving. A very challenging and humbling course.
Nice course but the prestige of being in the World Golf Village makes it an expensive treat.
The course was in good condition and I played with a member and his wife who were the nicest people. In my opinion is not a 169+tax course but more of a 120.
Great Layout
Played the Blue Tees - Appoximately 6300-6500 yds, I believe. Most holes are straight forward with ample landing areas. Great variety of holes, every club in your bag will probably be used. Green complexes outstanding -smooth and fast greens. Nice, well maintained bunkers.
One of the nicer courses that I've played. Good practice putting green, practice hole, and range.
No GPS on carts as advertised. Used my rangefinder. Course is located approximately 3-4 miles away from Golf Hall of Fame - next visit will play Slammer and Squire which is conveniently located right at the World Golf Village/Hall of Fame.
Fast Greens
If your after the challenge of a Professional this would be the course. Only a couple days after very heavy rains the course was in excellent shape. A lot of workers were out making sure the course was in pristine shape. Two cart girls circling so you didn't have to wait for anything.
Nice course
Both wgv courses are fantastic. Pricey until the summer
slow but great
This course is a resort course and pretty crowded, but definitely a great test and great value. It has well maintained greens and fairways and the staff and practice areas are top notch. The pace of play and wait off the tee will slow you down.
Great Course
We had a great time at the Slammer and Squire. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the course was in great shape, and although the round was 5 hours, we still had a good time. I will be playing this course again.
If you are travelling to Florida put this course on your wish list.
I got a tee time as a single and was paired with a single and a twosome. When you arrive you are transported by shuttled to the pro shop. After checking in you have use of the range. It is all you would expect of a pro facility. Also there is a bar and grill above the pro shop with views of the course, range and the Hall of Fame. We had a 2:05 tee time following a 1:30 shotgun start on 1-12. We did not have to wait after the third hole and were not pushed until a twosome caught up to us on the16th. The greens were transitioning from winter rye to Bermuda so you could see some brown in the grain. This did not effect the roll of the ball. These were the best greens I have ever played. The condition of the fairways, ruff and traps were just as good as it gets. The course wanders through a natural setting with only a few holes near any buildings. At time you have views of the WGV and The Hall of Fame. bring a camera.
King & Bear worth it
The course is on phenomenal condition. And the layout is beautiful. It is a great place to treat yourself to an outstanding round of golf.
Great service, great shape, player friendly
Played solo, was able to speed through. Enjoyed the smooth greens, the challenge of some water and sand.
Loved the course!
If I could have stayed out of the bunkers - a nearly impossible task with the number there are - I would have had a chance to shoot my handicap. It was a fantastic day!
Great Course
This course is totally pristine and absolutely beautiful, as well as a challenge to play. If you're lucky, you might see a few of the local residence swimming in the water holes. (alligators).
