Great Course & Value
Played this course on a Friday and then again on a Monday. I made my tee time on GolfNow 30 minutes before showing up at the course, but despite my quick reservation, the staff had my reservation, was super friendly and went out of their way to make my experience wonderful!
excellent
was unable to get any discount golfnow due to time constraints ( catching flight that afternoon.) played 2 other courses in 3 days this was best . Slammer & squire (very close to this course as far as review ) also 1/2 price since had flexability as far as time. also amelia island which is nothing more then muny course plus very crowded and slow
Treat yourself
A little expensive but if you want to treat yourself this is one to consider. The course is always in great shape and the staff treats you well
GolfNow - Great Value
GolfNow got me great pricing for this course and even in early Feb the course was in excellent shape! GolfNow is an awesome tool for booking out of state tee times.
Resort Golf I understand price to high for residents lower it to 50 and you would have much more business
Great course nice fairways, greens are quick but fair
Beautiful, historic course
Amazing golf experience. Great deal for the chance to play on a challenging, pro designed course. Complimentary range balls, tees, towels, and apples. Very nice pro shop. Lots of large, deep bunkers, but overall an amazing golf experience. I would love to come back to play and see more of the property.
One of the best courses in the area
This is one of the best maintianed courses in the area. You will pay a little more here, but the experience is worth it. We took a group here to play and everyone had an amazing time. Great staff, great layout, great experience. Pay a little more, get a little more.
Challenging course with pristine fairways and excellent greens.
This course, which is part of the World Golf Village, is a must play. It is a couple miles from the resort but WGV offers shuttles to and from course. It is a bit more challenging than their sister course, Slammer & the Squire. Included in the greens fees is unlimited range balls, and a nice practice green for putting and chipping. The tee boxes are in mint condition and the greens were fairly quick. It is a course that is relatively open off the tee but can be punishing if you are on the wrong side of the hole. The one dissappointment that I can think of is the lack of GPS. I would recommend getting to the course early for a nice breakfast and then taking an hour or so to hit the range. If you are in the St. Augustine area and looking for a couple of rounds of golf, I would suggest playing the King and the Bear.
Challenging course in avg/good condition.
The course was nice but not worth $170/round. Just because you can command that price during the holidays doesn't make it affordable for most. The young lady at check-in acted like she didn't want to be there and didn't even make eye contact with me and my playing partners.
This is the way a golf course is supposed to be designed.
Booked via Golfnow @ $90; best deal available; at this price the course is a fair deal, Oustanding condition, fairways, greeens, tees, rough....all perfect. The landing areas are generous, and the course is very enjoyable to play. Excellent range. Arnie & Jack did an excellent job of designing a great course for all; just pick the tee that suits your game...you will love it. Would play again and again.....
Outstanding, Moderate Playing Course
From the time we drove in to when we packed up to leave we were well taken care of. The course was Pristine and went far beyond our expectations. Clean, Well-Manicured every hole a fun experience. It is not what one would call "close to being an easy course". The corse plays challenging but also fun. From where we live it takes us 1.5 Hours to get to the course. In short we WILL Play there again.....
Some really great golf holes
Course was in super condition for late November. We had a blast.
Great course, we enjoy it, we would play again.
We enjoyed playing this course. It was in good shape. Staff were very nice to us. Fast play. Not to difficult but enough though.
Excellent Customer Service
From the moment we arrived until the drive away, service was friendly and valuable. The course greens and fairways were in pristine shape and made for a great day out on the links.
Everything about this course is fantastic. It definately lives up to its name, and the apples on the 1st and 10th tees are definatley a plus.
Played this course with a couple of Army buddies that were visiting for the weekend. Very impressive layout. Long but fair. Good landing areas and a course that requires a little thinking and timely ball striking. Tee selection is key. Traps and hazards are there for taking. Water never seem to cause us any issues. If you hit into it, its not because of the layout.
Must be played
With Golf Now.com you find good tee time at great prices
at times you want to play
This course has a great veriety of holes
This was our first time to play this course and what a treat the attendents were all so helpfull and pleasant, the course was in such great shape with a great veriety of dfferant holes to please any level of golfer
Very nice course. Enjoyed.
Very positive experience. Even though I played cart path only, I had a great time and enjoyed the course.
Course was over seeded the day after I purchased the tee time. The greens and the fringe couldn't be mowed before I played.
The course was in very good shape less what I already mentioned. It was also cart path only due to the overseeding which caught us by surprise. Difficult to putt due to the inconsistency of the greens with tufts of grass growing and their watering the course ahead of our group but that has to be done so I can't complain about it. I would have expected a more friendly staff in the Pro Shop just based on the courses namesakes. Our golf cart went dead in the water on the fairway of the 1st hole. Had to walk back to the clubhouse and get another one. Luck of the draw I guess there. After the round though I talked to the lady in the Pro Shop about it and she had a 'that's the way it goes sometimes' attitude. She didn't offer any type of compensation for it either.
For the price I paid for the round thx to GolfNow it was a good deal but I would have went elsewhere if it would have been full price.
The fairways are like walking on a carpet.
I loved the course. The only issue was it was cart path only due to recent overseeding. Wish I had known before booking. One member of the group has COPD and had some difficulty. The greens were "hairy" and slow due to the overseeding but otherwise in great condition. I will play it again.
