Nice course, but for the money paid, carts should have GPS
This is a very nice course with excellent playing conditions. My only issue is the lack of any available information on the layout of each hole. They are not provided on the scorecard, there are no diagrams on the tee markers, and for paying $200 after taxes and assorted fees, I would expect a course of this caliber to have GPS equiped carts. Carts are nice but somewhat uncomfortable for larger sized players, as the seat bolsters kind of force you into your riding partners shoulders.
Enjoyable course made tough by adverse weather conditions
Nice layout,
nice practice facility
Greens need lots of tender loving care
real wet conditions took some of the fun away
Price a little steep considering course not tip top shape.
Fun Course.
Fun Course with a nice layout and pure greens. Our experience was overshadowed by constant harassment from the ranger about pace of play. We played a walking 3 hour 51 minute round with noone behind us, yet every other hole he was harassing us to pick up the pace. On the 2nd green he said we should be at the 12 minute mark of our round and we were at 20, ridiculous. Then on the 7th tee att the 1 hr 10 min mark he came and harassed us again about picking up the pace. Just very annoying and disrupted the entire round.
Good course but get hit with a “resort fee” on top of TeeOff price.
Course was in good shape.
Pace of play could have been better.
Surprised by. “Resort fee” added to the TeeOff .com price that was quoted by TeeOff.com.
I asked what it was for since I had a price I agreed to on line, I was told it is because we are a “Resort.”
Just be prepared to pay it in addition to the TeeOff price you agreed to.
Sooo slow and not one cares
On the weekends in take 4-6 hours there are no rangers, very little staff and everyone including the carts is falling apart.. I mean for an amazing course it’s so sad to see the club house and service be so extremely poor..
if only if you happen to see the cart person they are always out of many things and you only see them once a round..
I have played this course for years and it was at one time a first class course from all aspects.. sadly that is over
It's a resort golf course, folks.
So the good -
Grass everywhere, minimal GUR locations.
Located on the property so leave the hotel and go play.
My coworker was loaned the pro's clubs to play since he couldn't bring his from Cali and when we were making the turn, my playing partner's sugar, who has type 1 diabetes, was crashing, so we stopped into the pro shop to see if they had anything and the pro loaded him up with snacks. Nice touch of humanity.
Free water, towels on the carts, etc.
The guy's manning the starter house were super as well.
The bad -
Greens were punched two days before we showed up. No mention of this at all. $89 for punched greens? That's a bit tacky for me. The round came with a dozen Callaway Super Soft balls that I don't play, so will give them away or maybe play them in the winter.
The course was lacking attention to detail, bunkers edging, etc. the only reason these stick out more for me is this is the WORLD GOLF VILLAGE.
If we would have had time after the day's work to go and play elsewhere, prolly would have played this one time. As it is, we played it all week due to time constraints.
Very nice course.
Course in good shape. Great layout. Fairways were nice and wide. Favors straight or slice driver. Get a dozen of Calloway balls included in green fee. Afternoon green fee was about $40 cheaper than morning tee time.
Just picked the wrong day
Hey guys , we played a round on Slammer yesterday afternoon and I have to say we had hoped for better. Starting right behind a shotgun tournament, we were never able to get into a good rhythm. Multiple holes were interrupted by whatever stations were out there , especially shooting skeet toward the later holes . It was rather uncomfortable to putt and tee off during commotion like that. Wish we were informed about the situation out there today because we were hoping for a really nice experience and had heard great things.
The course owners should be ashamed
There is a certain expectation when you agree to pay several hundred dollars for a round of golf and The King & Bear absolutely did NOT deliver! The greens have been killed and painted green along with the entire practice area. While these things need to be done periodically to keep a course in top shape, I've NEVER had a course not mention it during booking and certainly not charge their clients full price with a course in less than good condition. The staff were all incredibly friendly but ownership should be ashamed. I wouldn't pay more than $75 to play this course in its current condition and honestly believe they owe everyone they've charged $200 a portion of their money back. Ridiculous!
Beautiful course!
Beautiful course and conditions. Pace of play slow, but we weren’t in a rush, beautiful day in April and on vacation. Half price thru TeeOff was fair, wouldn’t want to pay full price
TPC Weekend of Golf
GolfNow had a great rate for this course when I booked the round. Several days later I got a call from the Pro at the course to say that was not the correct rate and I would have to pay $125 more per person. I agreed and he did throw in 4 free rounds in the next 12 months.
Course was fun, but do not think it was worth $270+ per round. Surprised that GolfNow was not responsible for the difference between what they sold it for and what I ended up paying.
Be careful when using GolfNow, you never know if you are going to get the rate that is advertised. I'll be going to the course directly from now on.
Nice, but not for me
All reviews are correct, it is a very nice course in excellent condition. Most people would rightfully give it a great review.
As a northerner though, I want Palm trees on a Florida course and there aren't any here. I can play courses just as nice as this up north.
Slammer Squire
Course was in good shape, price point is too high as this is no more than a $80 green fee golf course.
Will not play again on my next visit unless price is reduced.
Aeration
Entire course is aerated. Only $75 right now but not worth it. Wait at least a few weeks.
Slammer
Course and greens in great condition
Arrive early to enjoy practice facilities included with play.
