Great hole! Photo submitted by dongolf0123 on 04/21/2014
Waste of money!
Decided to play here on our way back from Grand National to the ATL airport. What a mistake. Tees were sparse fairways very marginal in many spots and greens were awful (no grass). And all this for $97. What a disappointment. Not recommended at all
Last Time !
Me and golfing buddy drove 55 minutes to play Mountain View. There were a lot of vacant tee times available, that should have been my sign. Got there right at tee time due to GPS taking us the scenic route, so no practice balls. Check in was quick, we were greeted at the bag drop off - then we were told the Lake View course was closed and everyone was playing the Mountain View course. Brutally slow….. Belive it or not, this was not our biggest disappointment. THE GREENS were horrible. Mosly dirt / mud because it had rained a few days before. Was not even worth the Hot Deal price. I will admit, most rest of the couse was satisfactory- mowed rough, fairways nice, bunkers ok. But the greens were as I said - HORRIBLE! Played this course last year and enjoyed it. I will never go back.
Lakeview course was closed, no communication
Got to the pro shop and was told Lakeview course was closed due to rain. We were able to switch to Mountain course, but this was not communicated at all before driving over an hour from Atlanta. Not sure what we would have done if the Mountain course was fully booked. Fuzzy and muddy greens, but that is understandable given recent rain/season.
It is so difficult to play golf.
I booked 8:10 lake course 3 persons.
But I can't have 18 courses round. So I stopped the round after 9 holes. Because the ground was so wet and all holes
is cart path only. It is so difficult to play golf.
Not worth the rack money at full price.
We managed to get a hot deal so value suited the course. This "resort" course is anything but that. No range balls, no real putting green that we saw. We might have missed it since there was no real direction from the desk attendant as we seemed more of a distraction from watching golf than providing any info on the course. Course was in fair shape give the time of year. It's not a bad course but just a lackluster experience given the description of a former PGA TOUR resort course.
It was terrible
It mostly best of terrible condition golf course
It’s only $30 18 hole enough green fee
Great course, still some issues with the greens
Mountain View is a great course. The staff is very friendly and the inside restaurant is great. The only negative is that a few of the greens still have some issues with Poana grass, especially the 18th green. It's something they've been fighting for over a year now. The good news is that they cut the greens short and roll them, so they are still very quick. And with the exception of the 18th green (which is very bumpy because of the Poana), the rest of the greens roll smoothly. Other than that, the fairways and rough are in great shape for this time of year, as are the bunkers.
Former PGA course
It’s getting back now that it’s been bought and money is being put in. Bryan in the pro shop is the nicest guy there is. A real test as all the greens are surrounded by sand traps. Green size and undulations will also test your game.
Love this course.
Winter conditions. Muddy fairways, wet grass, greens average, tees average.
The Lake View Course at Callaway Gardens was actually unplayable due to wet conditions so they moved all tee times and golfers to the Mountain Course which created quite a slow down and a very congested course.
Despite the slow play we enjoyed the round which took almost 5-1/2 hrs to complete.
Callaway Gardens should have advised that the LakeView course was unplayable and not allowed tee times. They did their best to accommodate all of the golfers but it just created a painfully slow day.
End of year outing
Had a great time and the course was excellent for the time of year,CANT wait to get back in the springtime
