Bucket list
I've been wanting to play this course for over 15 years and finally decided to take the drive out to Rutledge. I am so glad I did. This is a truly fun, challenging course . There are holes here that are unlike any I've played before. The first 4 holes challenged my patience and golf intelligence as I was not able to pull the driver out of the bag for any of them. The course plays very fair. The fairways don't give you severe lays. If you stay on the fairways, you'll do well. But that's not as easy as I would like.
Nice course
Fairways are in good condition and the greens need work. The new sand traps are great.
Great course Great value
State park courses are not what they use to be, there better, much better than most public play courses. Fairways, greens and tee boxes in excellent condition. All bunkers are currently being rebuilt with new drainage and sodded sides, front 9 done, back 9 being worked on. Not a house on course, very quite and lots of wild life. A great value and worth the 40 mile drive
Great course and value!
Always enjoy playing here. Course was in good shape although the greens were a little slower than normal.
This is a hidden gem of a course
The fairways were supreme. The greens were a bit slow. An overall great experience. I will continue to make the drive to play this hidden gem.
Great Sunday afternoon
Hot deal on Sunday for less money than a bucket of balls is hard to beat. Greens were recently punched so putting was an effort in futility. Lost a few balls into the woods/water.
Overall a great afternoon though
Pleasant Round on the Creek
Kudos to the staff- the course in great shape.
Hole 1 Blues: Truly the hardest.
Course located on a state park/ natural resource reservation and a long drive from where i reside.
Course has some challenging holes, but over all it a good course.
Beautiful course
Not a long course but very hilly in spots. Make sure your putter works
State Park Standout
Starts you off with the hardest hole on the course, a downhill slight dogleg right shot with a pond at the bottom of the hill and trees to the left to swallow anything that doesn't turn right. Second shot is uphill (at least 1 extra club) to a smallish green. Good Luck! Rest of the course is treelined, so the challenge is to keep your ball in play. Great course to work on shots for the Advanced player as Driver is only needed on the Par 5's and about 2 par 4's. Greens are in excellent shape for a Government run course, just great having fun with your friends and playing golf! A must play if you ever get the chance!
Always Fun !!!!!!
The Creek will always challenge you...I always enjoy my once a year return to the course...A very good layout especially the #1 and #2 handicaps.
Good Day
Excellent afternoon of golf with son, nice views and tight placements
Always a great day
After a 20 year layoff I returned to the course that was one of my favorites while skipping class at Uga. It is indescribably more fun than any of the typical Atlanta courses we usually play- probably because we're in the woods without houses on every hole, maybe because the staff seems to really love golf and wants you to have a good time, but more likely a combination of a lot of things they're doing right here. They seem to be transitioning some sand traps to grass bunkers- great idea for weekenders! Pro shop even had a bag I've been searching months to find. 10,11,12 is the funnest 3 hole stretch in Georgia. So yeah.
Course is great
Course is getting in better shape as the weather gets better. Challenging 1st hole sets up your day
if not for the scenery i wouldnt recommend
the course is in a beautiful part of Georgia. and the scenery in spring and summer I am sure is spectacular. there is water falls and hills. but the scenery is all you get. I don't know how often the tee markers are moved but most looked like they hadn't been moved in over a week. the weather was nasty the day we played so I am sure they didn't get that tore up in one day. more than half the tee boxes weren't anything but mud. I constantly had to hit from as far back as allowed to even get any grass. I have seen courses like this before where volunteers get the benefits of volunteering but rarely do anything to deserve it. all the greens could use some TLC also. as with public courses players rarely fix ball marks. there again is where a volunteer or course marshal while out moving tees or checking pace of play can spend 3 minutes a hole and improve the course immensely. there are a lot of options in the area for courses to play. if you are a lower handicapper and save a lot of strokes putting forget it on these greens. but if you want some scenery this is the course for you.
Nature at It's Best!
A pleasant round on a very challenging layout. The Creek at Hard Labor was one of the most remote (a good thing) and pristine natural settings I have ever played golf on. The views from every tee were terrific. Accuracy off the tee is my strength right now and I stayed in all but one fairway, but six months ago this course would have destroyed me. Overall it is not a long course, but the yardage is misleading. Greens are elevated so you won't be rolling anything on. There are several par 4s that play the proverbial driver and 3-W for the average--to-long golfer. The 3's are short and the 3rd shot on 5s are short, but most par 4s are all you would ever want. Just a beautiful setting.
Not in a rush to head back
The staff was really friendly. Price wasn't bad. Con diction of the course was decent, despite a few holes considering it being winter. This is public golf to a T. Very slow pace of play and total.lack of etiquette whatsoever. Played behind a 5-some and the Marshall had no concern for this fact at all. Was not fun watching them hit balls into the woods and taking way too much time to try to find them. I'm a scratch golfer and absolutely appreciate people playing the game, but when there is no guidance from course staff, it makes for a long day.
Beautiful Course
This is a beauty and a joy to play. A little short from white tees but requires thought as to club selection. The greens are fast and true, and the elevation changes special. Price is fantastic value.
Favorite
Personally my favorite place to play. Challenging every time.
Challenging course
First of all Karl Gross (the Pro) was very friendly and helpful. He is also very knowledgable about the course and Golf in general. It's great that Georgia understands that you need people with Golf knowledge to operate a decent Golf facility and instructional programs. Any way back to the course, this course offers several exciting holes that require some thought if you want to score well. Hope number one is a good example as the right yardage club from the tee puts you in the best position to attack a challenging green location. I typically don't shoot my best scores at this course because it requires you to execute your shots properly or pay the price but I love the challenge.
