This course has some of the best views
Beautiful course with a beautiful location on lake Russel. Although it was extremely wet, the course was still in good condition. The back side 9 has a several holes that play around the lake providing a view that you'll never forget.
Great value - beautiful course!
First time making the trek - about 100 minutes from our home, but worth the drive. We chose a tee time during the GA-FL game, so virtually had the course to ourselves! Greens ran true, lots of challenges with rolling terrain and strategically placed bunkers - but overall a very enjoyable round. I used my driver on 3 of 4 par threes, but managed to pull off pars anyway. The water views throughout the back nine were amazing. Highly recommended. BTW - the French fries are superb.
Great course beautiful scenery
First time playing the course. Local knowledge is important when playing here. Staff was a little curt with us. You could not take the carts to your car to get your equipment. One of the very few places I have played that does not allow that. I will probably play here again, although I live a little over an hour away.
One of the best courses in Georgia!
We played Friday, Saturday (36 in the rain) and Sunday last weekend (10/9-10/11) and the course was in AMAZING shape!
Fairways were in perfect shape, thick rough, fast and perfect rolling greens. Even in the rain on Saturday (10/10) the course drained very well, and the greens remained fast & true.
You can't beat the views on the back 9 from 12-16 once you get out on the point. The lake is beautiful.
Overall, the course is tough, but fair, and a pleasure to play.
Definitely my favorite course to play in Georgia, and I try and make it out to Elberton 3-4 weekends a year just to play this gem!
Great views
This course had some very nice holes when you start 13 till about 17 is very nice holes great buy for the money
Great course
Always a nice course, beautiful setting. Nice secluded course on the beautiful lake russell. Greens are no joke, fast with lots of break. Every part of the course is in top shape. It's worth the drive from anywhere.
Arrowhead Pt. ⛳️ Course
The best course out of quite a few that is nearby. By far my fav! Great staff and facilities. Actually got ball fitted the last time there. There was a Bridgestone rep there doing "ball" fitting on the driving range. Im going to try the E6 now to reduce all of this wicked spin that I put on my ball of choice!
Conquer the peninsula!
I love this course, but it's no cake walk. The greens are super clean and oh so hard to read...hybrid grass I believe developed at UGA. Interesting holes with unique challenges keep you engaged, including some risk/reward layouts for the gamblers. The arrowhead shaped peninsula has no equal anywhere in the world. The views of Lake Russell reservoir in all its natural glory are simply incredible as you negotiate your way through the peninsula holes. My only complaint is the pace of play always slows to a crawl on the back nine. I've played many times and I've yet to figure out the greens. Don't beat yourself up for missing a few "easy" putts and you will enjoy your round.
Beautiful and Challenging
Course was in terrific shape.. Fairways plush, Rough was Bermuda about three inch well defined, greens smooth receptive. Scenery was spectacular. Back side is picturesque. Every hole could be signature hole. The only problem is location. It is about 8 miles from Elberton and an hour from Athens. But it is definitely worth the travel. I will be back. Nicest state park course in the state.
Worth the trip......
While off the beaten path, excellent track in a tranquil setting. My only issue is that the greens are "old school" bermuda...corse and grainy. If they converted to a "champions" type, the greens would come up to the level of the rest of the course. Nevertheless, an excellent golf course!
Beautiful Setting for Golf
Arrowhead Point is built within the State park and there are virtually no structures visible when on the course. Many holes are built beside or over Lake Russell and provide great views. Again, Lake Russell has no homes visible from the water, and docks are not allowed so it is a pristine environment. Boat sightings are minimal if at all.
The course takes good advantage of the lake area topography without being gimmicky. There are several holes that play longer than their yardage would indicate because of multiple turns of the fairway. Overall, this is a very fair, shot makers course with plenty of eye candy to keep you engaged.
We try to get over to Arrowhead Point two or three times a year as a refreshing break from our routine. It's an hour drive, but worth the trip.
Beautiful course
A plus course
Beautiful
Peaceful
Great condition
I enjoyed the course, the location is out of the way but worth the drive
I will be going back to this course
Slow play--no ranger
We played the front nine very quickly, but the back nine took 3 hrs., 10 mins. When we made the turn, there were 3 groups teeing off on #10 ahead of us. We think most of them must have gone into the clubhouse for lunch and then just came back out and went to #10. Waited a very long time for every shot. Were told after we finally finished that a ranger would have come out if we had called the pro shop. A little late to give us at fact!
LONG DRIVE BUT GREAT DAY
GREAT GOLF NOW TEE TIME PRICE MADE IT WORTH THE 80 MILE ONE WAY DRIVE. HAD 12 OCLOCK TIME GOT THERE ABOUT AN HOUR AHEAD AND THEY LET
US GO RIGHT OFF AN HOUR EARLY. STATE PARK COURSE IN AS GREAT OF SHAPE I HAVE EVER SEEN, GREENS ARE VERY LARGE AND FAST AND IN FANTASTIC SHAPE. BACK 9 PLAYS AROUND AND OVER LAKE HARTWELL MADE THIS ONE GREAT GOLFING DAY.
Must Visit
This is a must play course for the area. The back 9 scenery is awesome
Worth The Drive
Came from Athens and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful setting. Hidden treasure!
The course to play
Great course and beautiful scenery. Add this one to your bucket list.
A Little Known Gem
Took my grown son out for a day of golf and wanted to make it special and different. Had played this course a handful of times over the years and always enjoyed it. Very interesting layout, good mix of holes, and an extremely scenic back 9 where more than half the holes border and interact with the beautiful lake.
At 6400+ yards from the blue tees and a great deal of slope and tiering on most greens, this course is not a cupcake, yet it is very playable overall. Placement and accuracy off the tee is almost more important than length on this track, though not terribly tight on most holes. Staff is very friendly and make you feel comfortable, and course conditions very good. Greens ran a little slower than expected considering their excellent condition, even downhill sometimes, so pace on them a little deceptive and we had some trouble adjusting. If this course were not nearly a 2-hour drive from home I would play it much more frequently, but still worth the trip once or twice per year. Check it out; I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
state park course, well above that title
Don't be fooled by state parks course title, this is an excellent layout, the greens are thick and rich and very fair to a well struck shot. if you're in the area you need to play here.
Breathtaking
Enjoy these views. Fun course to play. Lots of water on back nine. Bermuda greens made putting difficult but was well worth the trip and money!
