About Lanier Islands

Georgia's Lanier Islands is a 1,200-acre resort community on a string of islands on Lake Lanier an hour's drive from Atlanta. It has several lodging options, starting with a Margaritaville at Lanier Islands and The Legacy Lodge at Lanier Islands. There are also condo, villa and RV park options. The 18-hole golf course, Lanier Islands Golf Club, is a past selection of the US Golfers' Choice Top 50. Amenities at Lanier Islands beyond golf include a waterpark and beach area, marina, spa as well as multiple dining and bar concepts ranging from indoors to outdoors and beachfront.

The staff is over the top with their Service...Awesome!

Greens were really slow, however, they were consistent!

You need to play this course a few times, a lot of blind shots!

Awesome Course!!

What a wonderful place. From the moment you arrive till the moment you leave you are treated like a special guest. The course is breathtaking. It costs 20$ to park but if you want to make a day of it you can also go to the lake and waterpark. A great vacation destination for sure.

Enjoyable

Right from check in the staff was great. They send someone to your car (truck) to pick up your bag and take you to the putting, chipping greens and driving range. Oh and pick up some free bottles of water and something to eat before heading out for a great day of golf on a beautiful course with great views.

Scenic Views...

All the extras included with the Green fees is a nice addition which includes range balls, breakfast or lunch sandwiches & sodas. The Staff was outstanding from start to finish. Now for the reasons we didn't give this round 5 stars.....many tee boxes are in need of some TLC with bare patches around the course. Bunkers had very little sand in them. Fairways are in ok condition. But, the biggest issue was the conditions of the greens. The greens have very little grass on them with many having brown spots. You can see all of the old pin placements as the most of greens have not healed up from recent pin movements. Finally, the ball was not rolling across the green rather it was skidding across the green. When you pay north of $130/round expectations are higher!

Thank you for your review and feedback. With miniverde bermuda greens you will see a little brown tinge every now and then and it typically doesn't affect the roll of the ball. The fairways and rough will always look more green. The skidding issue could have been putts into the grain as at this time of year the grain will become stronger. We perform regular verticutting and topdressing every two weeks to reduce the strength of the grain. We have had mostly excellent reviews on the condition of the course recently but some tee boxes are worn a little more than normal with the increased levels of play in 2020 and 2021. A full course fertilization has been performed just last week.

Post Tourney Bliss

We played today after a tournament and enjoyed the course and one of the most scenic and beautiful courses we have played in our journey from FL to Yellowstone and now heading home. Beaolake views and spectacular scenic drops. Will come back and play again. Also they provided snacks, drinks and sandwiches too. A must play in GA!
