About Lanier Islands

Georgia's Lanier Islands is a 1,200-acre resort community on a string of islands on Lake Lanier an hour's drive from Atlanta. It has several lodging options, starting with a Margaritaville at Lanier Islands and The Legacy Lodge at Lanier Islands. There are also condo, villa and RV park options. The 18-hole golf course, Lanier Islands Golf Club, is a past selection of the US Golfers' Choice Top 50. Amenities at Lanier Islands beyond golf include a waterpark and beach area, marina, spa as well as multiple dining and bar concepts ranging from indoors to outdoors and beachfront.

The course is in great shape. Pin positions tough on undulating greens. It was wet in a lot of fairways but it was still 90 degrees, which was good for pace of play.. Course

Maintenance crew needs to be more aware of when players are hitting so they can turn off or idle down their equipment. Only happened a couple of times though. Although carts had GPS ours did not work. So first time with no idea on some holes what we were hitting into. I would play it again though.

Challenging

Nice course only lost one ball in the lake. There are some forced carries over the lake so play the right tees.

Greens were in good shape ha be a lot of undulations.

Ok Course. Staff is rude.

Love playing alongside the lake. However, the pace is slow for the price range, and the staff is very rude - especially the course manager.

Hello Mr. Harston,

Thank you for the feedback. I have investigated your complaint and analyzed your last two rounds with us here at the course via our GPS system that records cart locations and round times. On Sunday October 18th your group started at 1:10PM and completed your round in 4 hours 28 minutes. We believe that a round less than 4 hours 30 minutes is perfectly adequate for the enjoyment of our guests who are of varying abilities.

On your prior visit to our golf course your group started at 3:27PM and played in 3 hours and 53 minutes. You were on #18 fairway at 7:17PM therefore we believe you managed to complete all 18 holes before sunset The pace of play from 1:50PM onwards that day was less than 4 hours for every group. I am personally delighted with that pace of play in a busy Sunday afternoon.

Our Golf Shop Supervisor is the person you refer to as "course manager" and kindly heard out your original complaint about pace of play from October 4 and offered rain checks as a gesture of goodwill. My belief, after speaking with him, is that he was merely being assertive in communicating to you that we would not offer rain checks to you again given you were on track for a round of 4 hours and 30 minutes. In your review you have branded all Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course staff as 'very rude' and I completely disagree here. There is no evidence to suggest all our staff are rude and prior recent reviews mentioning our staff suggest the opposite is true.

In the event that you would like to play our golf course again please ensure you call me directly and I will determine if we can accommodate your group's request.

Fabulous!

This course is an hour away from me but I had heard so much about it that I had to play it. I was on vacation and made it my highest priority. It did not disappoint! Most holes border lake Lanier which provided a nice breeze all day. The course grooming was top notch and the layout was interesting as well as challenging. The greens rolled true and fairways and tee boxes where in tremendous shape too.

best overall as a public golf course

extraordinary golf course, from price to staff to course conditions. the first 4 holes have beautiful views and the back 9 are very cool challenges. lots of water but beautiful. staff is great! amenities like water and sofdrinks are free. greens are in an okay conditions, but i suggest to practice before you play.

the price pays it all!

Awesome course

We only had 3 players play I tried to contact golf now and the course with plenty of notice the day before but no one was able to answer the phone

I showed up at the course 2 hours early to cancel 1 tee time but they said I had to contact golf now

Great Course Great shape

One of the best courses in Georgia. Beautiful views and challenging course. If you are playing well you can score well if you don’t hit fairway in for a long day. 12,13,-14 one of the toughest stretches in any golf course. Will be back for sure and would highly recommend!!!
