Very enjoyable experience
Despite the corona virus stuff that has been going on, I was able to play a round at the King and Prince this morning. I arrived about 30 minutes early and was actually put out then before everyone else and blew through my round.
I had never played the course before so some type of routing info would have been great, like a yardage book. This only really came in to play on a few holes where it was tough to know where to hit it.
I thought the course was beautifully wound through the combination of some marsh and a neighborhood. The layout was fair and manageable with poor tee shots like I hit several times today and would reward someone hitting good tee shots all day.
The staff in the pro shop was very friendly. Kudos to them with having to adjust to the new reality of golf.
Great course
staff is very friendly, above and beyond from pro shop. Played the backside first, very challenging but fair. The front plays easier.
Range was closed when we played, would have nice to hit a few balls prior to playing.
I would play this course again if I'm in the area.
Very Nice
Course in very good condition, pace of play at 3+20 min, checkin easy, covid precautions in place. Enjoyable
Is this heaven?
Sorry for the field of dreams reference but it is certainly fitting for the King & Prince. I’ve played many rounds thru golf now, mostly positive experiences, some bad but never been compelled to review a course until today. Staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival for our late afternoon round walking 18. Started on the back 9 and found the course to be in great shape. #11 played with a very scenic marsh view backdrop. As we came off the green to go to the bridge to the next hole, two deer came across the bridge to the hole we were finishing. What happened next was simply the greatest experience I have had on a golf course. Holes 12-15 play rough there own mini islands with marshes to carry, with 14 having a Pebble Beach #18 feel to it. I could play those 4 holes all day every day. These were the most memorable holes by far but not the only great holes. On the front nine, both par 5’s were very good holes and 8 & 9 were solid par 4’s. Reversing the 9’s seem the right way to play as 9 was a great finishing hole. As stated, course was in great shape and even though it looked as greens had been aerated recently, they rolled very fast and true. Great course to walk with the exception of length from 15 to 16 and only complaint was the attacking flies. Lol. Would really like to know what to use to keep them away next time. Can’t wait to return.
Beautiful Scenery
Have played this course a number of times. It is a good test of your skills. The scenery is beautiful and generally you will see wildlife. Today we saw an eagle perched in a tree fairly close. Have also seen deer, alligators and previously. Recommend you give it a try.
Hidden gem
Beautiful course back in the Marshes,The young man that greeted just checking in was extremely nice.Beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife
Decent course, all things considered
No amenities except water fountain and bathroom.
No range for non-members. They do let you bring a cooler which is nice.
Layout is pretty nice, but clearly a course built to sell real estate.
Decent condition but very dry and some rough spots. Greens were pretty good.
Most important advise - bring GOOD bug spray. Deet. Don’t bother with that hippy organic stuff... won’t touch the flys and mosquitoes out there.
Interesting / Great Shape
I really enjoyed this course. I’m a single digit handicap and get the opportunity to play very course on the island, including Frederica and Ocean Forrest. I was super pleased. Yes it’s a public course but it was very pretty and in great shape. Greens rolled true and probably 10-11 speed.
Now, the advertised picture is a bit color saturated in a photo editor, LOL but it’s really close to that in person.
We did have to start on 10 for whatever reason and that was a bit of a bummer because the prettiest holes are 12-15. But we still enjoyed all 18 twice.
Terrific course with beautiful scenery. Poor rating for off course amenities as club house closed due to virus.
No range balls
Like the golf course. Will not play again unless they allow guests to hit range balls.
Bad policy.
Very nice course, worth playing.
Very interesting layout. Challenging but fair. Nice greens and bunkers.
Great Course!
A real jewel. Fairways, bunkers, and greens were nice. Nice layout.
Course Manager is A gem!
Rick is always helpful and friendly! Thanks for all that you do!
