Not a bad course, but definitely not worth the money.
Would be a perfectly nice to play often for half the price. Bunkers were terrible. Staff seemed bored… not what you would expect for that kind of price. I feel badly I dropped so much dough on that experience.
Great Course, beautiful scenery, good greens
If there is a more beautiful course to play, I haven't found it. Had a great time.
Save your money
While I understand that they are undergoing an irrigation upgrade, it is not currently worth the top dollar price that they are charging. I knew that there would be one tempo hole due to work. They even called me the night before to make sure that I knew of this and knocked $10 off the price due to the ongoing work.
When I arrived the next day the pro shop again asked if I knew about the temp hole. He then went on to say that one of the other par 4s was playing a little shorter as well. It turned out that this other whole was shortened from approximately 420 yards to 130 yards. In my mind, this would constitute a second temp hole.
Before I even teed off, I went to the driving range. The starter was very nice, but said that they were limited to seven hitting locations. This meant that I may have to give up my spot to someone with an earlier tee time. As it turned out, that didn’t happen. But I rushed through the warm-up.
I had a flight to catch shortly after my round, so I wanted to take a shower. I was assured prior to playing that they had shower facilities. Once I got undressed I realized that there were no towels and two of the three showers had no soap.
This was meant to be a world class facility and a course on my bucket list. I appreciate the $10 discount, but that certainly didn’t make up for a poor experience.
Save your money and play Kiahula (sp) course instead. It’s about one mile away. It doesn’t have the views of the ocean. But the chorus was in very good condition. How much better Golf experience.
Currently Bad Shape For the Price
I was extremely disappointed in Poipu Bay after hearing so many good things about the course and scenery. The fairways were in bad shape due to irrigation work on most holes. There were only 17 holes available to play + one makeshift hole on the driving range and the greens were the slowest speed I have ever played on for a course of this caliber. Very disappointed. I would not consider playing until all work is completed or the green fee is less than $100
Fun and challenging, beautiful course
Course design was great and conditions as well. Back 9 is very scenic as a few holes are on the bay.
Must play course - incredible scenery and views
If you are in the Poipu area and are an avid golfer, this is a must play course. The scenery is spectacular, the course is challenging, and it should be a memorable experience.
Course was as advertised
Very enjoyable course to play. Very scenic course with both Mountain and Ocean Views. Well manicured course and the greens were solid and consistent. My wife and I had a great round, what a way to start off our vacation.
Good luck concentrating with these views!
Pro shop staff was the best - lots of branded merchandise to choose from. Course is in great shape and interesting layout.
Beautiful views
The course has outstanding ocean views. Conditions of the Fairways were good, but not great. I paid less expensive courses on the island with similar, if not better, fairwayConditions. Overall, I enjoyed the course and the layout.
Never again
I was staying at the Grand Hyatt and decided to play Poipu Bay. When I got to the golf course the golf shop had two people behind the counter. First thing that they said was that I needed a collared shirt. I was wearing the same overshirt as Justin Thomas on the PGA tour and they told me that this wasn't the PGA tour. The golf course was uninspiring. Upwind and downwind. Nothing interesting. Greens are slow. There was no one there. After the round I grabbed a couple of balls and hit chips on the putting green. They sent someone out to tell me that I couldn't chip on the green even though there were no signs telling me that. Overall, a terrible experience and I will never go back.
Disappointed
I was excited to play this course from the reviews. When I arrived the pro shop had no idea how Golf Now worked and said that I should have booked it through them instead. They were rude and very unhelpful. I tried calling Golf Now and got a recording saying to call back tomorrow. I was pretty stressed out and I paid the greens fee anyway. They told me I had to wear a collared shirt. I was wearing a golf pullover like Justin Thomas and they told me that this wasn’t the PGA tour??
The amenities were subpar. Didn’t feel like a resort at all. No tees on the cart. Staff was not friendly. Told me I couldn’t chip on the putting green, etc.
The golf course is uninspiring. Holes are straight either in the wind or downwind. I don’t think the views were that amazing for Kauai. The greens were flat and slow. I don’t think I would ever play here again. I’m not trying to be negative but golf in Hawaii should be much more fun than this experience.
