About Ka'anapali Golf Resorts (Maui)

Ka'anapali is a resort development in the west Maui town of Lahaina. It is home to two golf courses, Royal Ka'anapali and Ka'anapali Kai, as well as a number of beachfront hotel and condominium properties that offer stay-and-play golf packages. Ka'anapali is a three-mile stretch of beach with 13 places to stay and 45 restaurants. Hotel brands include the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Aston Maui Ka'anapali Villas, Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui Eldorado Ka'anapali by Outrigger, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, Aston at The Whaler on Ka'anapali Beach, Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort, Spa & Residence Club and Ka'napali Royal. The beaches are famous for stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, sailing, parasailing, sunset dinners and whale watching. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the famous Royal Ka'anapali Golf Club in 1962 and the shorter Ka'anapali Kai course was added later.

Beware of the environment affects

If you're not familiar with the greens, the ocean and the mountains will have a great affect on your putting. The ball will take the grain and break severely

Resort golf

Overall the course was great. The fairways were wide and the course was in good shape. The bunkers were in good shape overall a great course.

Greens were lighting fast. This is resort golf, so I wasn’t expecing it to be a hard round

Nice day but wind

The course was well maintained. Very beautiful views, moderate challenge from tee box. Very challenging st green. In fairness green roll very good and true. My issue nothin would hold the greens. Using a 60 loft, with proVX and TP5 balls, nothing held. No ball marks on green. The greens acted like a trampoline. Otherwise great course.

Bring Fluid & Food

Nice course to play. Unfortunately there is a miss on revenue opportunity and experience for patrons. You had numerous water stations but found a couple to be empty when I went for a refill, Not having a beverage/food cart or a 9th hole stop for a quick snack and drink was disappointing.

Definitely Play

My expectations probably were low after reading some of the reviews, but I was impressed with this course.

The condition of the course was exceptional. The course itself was mediocre, but playable for people of all handicaps. There isn’t much trouble to get into and the greens were definitely not fast.

No beverage cart.. grrr. Apparently they don’t have an on course license…. In a 100% hospitality area seems sort of crazy..

If you are in doubt if it is worth the money, don’t worry it is.

Conditions were good and most of the course is visible from the tee. Greens were quick and rolled true, but pins were cut into the slopes making it tough to hole putts. Bunkers had good sand, but tended to plug if you hit near the edges. Course could be brutally tough with heavy winds. Range is too short to hit longer clubs. No beverage cart on the course. Shop staff was less than helpful, but the starter was personable. Overall, it was a good experience and the views are amazing! Fortunate to have found a good discount on GolfNow and been paired up with good people.
