Ka'anapali Kai
About
The Ka'anapali Resort on Maui is home to two championship golf courses, set on 1,200 acres of land home to ancient Hawaiian royalty. The Ka'anapali Kai course is an Arthur Jack Snyder design from 1976 that received an extensive renovation in 2005. The golf course is shorter and has a lower slope/rating compared to its sister Royal Ka'anapali course, but also plays narrower in most spots. Many holes are tucked into the West Maui Mountains The golf course is women-friendly with a forward set of "Hibiscus" tees at 4,522 yards, and also less expensive to resort guests and visitors compared to Royal Ka'anapali, which has played host to numerous professional events.

Average course but terrible customer service
I am in shock that any non resident would be asked to pay over $250 for a course that the greens are average at best. I booked during a GN Hot Deal so $100 is ok.
The starter clearly hates either his job, or tourists. I have never had such unhelpful and unhappy people send me off to their course.
The staff at check in were great and friendly, and the drink cart lady was the only reason I’m giving any positive feedback. She was incredible!
I guess since there is no place else to go close by, nobody cares.
Good Round....
My wife and I played a round here, and let me tell you — the course showed up to work, even if the staff mostly didn’t.
Course & Equipment:
We rented clubs, and shockingly, they were actually pretty nice. Honestly, the clubs had more personality than most of the employees. The course itself was in great shape — fairways clean, greens challenging, and just enough difficulty to remind you that confidence is temporary.
Scenery & Conditions:
The views? Absolutely incredible. The kind of scenery that makes you forget your scorecard and your will to live after a three‑putt. It was hot, but the breeze kept us from melting into the cart seat, so that was a win.
Staff & Service:
The staff was… present. Functional. Efficient in the same way a vending machine is efficient — you press a button, something happens, nobody smiles.
The range guy, though? A legend. Friendly, talkative, actually seemed to enjoy being alive.
The beverage cart situation was a whole adventure. There was one cart on the entire course, and we caught it once — at hole one — where the cart attendant delivered drinks with the enthusiasm of someone reading tax code.
Overall:
Phenomenal course, gorgeous views, great conditions. If you’re here for the golf, you’ll love it. If you’re here for warm hospitality and vibrant personalities… bring your own.
Golfing Paradise
This course was really good. Views were amazing. Greens a little slow. Fairway didn't roll out as good as California course but could be humidity .
Forgiving and amazing views
I love playing a forgiving course. The views were amazing. That made it. Would play here multiple times per week for sure.
Fun course; high winds made it tricky
Course in reasonably good shape given the recent heavy rinfall
Good condition considering all the recent rain and flooding
Bunkers were washed out due to recent rain and flooding. The rest of the course dried out very well considering wet weather.
Course conditions
Grass In desperate need of cutting. Rates should have been lower to accommodate the course conditions
Kaanapali Kai Kicks!
Very nice facility accessing two courses. (aka I is the lower price course.) very nice staff. A lot of people ready and willing to help you. Impressive “gift package” with the club rental. (I lost a lot more than two balls, though!). Magnificent layout with challenging up and down hills. Par threes were a challenging distance (150+). Fantastic views from the higher elevation holes. Tee boxes were in very nice shape. Fairways were very good and rough was a reasonable height. Greens were a little iffy with a lot of sand and competing grasses coming in. Very few ball marks. Sand traps were nicely groomed with plenty of sand. I had a great time!
Good course and close by.
I wish they had a 10 pass card. Their regular rates are too high. Thank you golf now for hot deals.
You can't take your cart to the driving range area, you have to walk with your clubs. Stupid rule.
Ocean view golf at its finest
I didnt research much on this course as i thought is was the ugly kid sister of the royal. Boy was I wrong. Awesome views and interesting hole layouts. greens are challenginf and fun to play.
