About Mauna Lani, from Auberge Resorts Collection (Hawaii Island)
Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, is located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii Island's west coast north of Kailua-Kona. The resort is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses at Mauna Lani, the North and South courses, as well as a WikiWiki short course for casual rounds. The Auberge completed a $200-million reimagination of the property in 2020. The resort has more than 300 guest rooms and suites, plus a limited number of bungalows. The greater Mauna Lani development has over three miles of Big Island beachfront. There are five open-air restaurants at the resort featuring locally sourced dishes and items. There is an abundance of outdoor activities to partake in on both land and sea, and the SurfShack is a hub of activity that has everything from board rentals to yoga classes and scuba. Five 4,000-square-foot bungalows are also available for rent for larger groups, featuring two bedrooms, three baths and a private swimming pool and spa.Facts

Mike's review
Great course! Really windy the day we played, but sunny and warm. Whale & dolphin siting on the holes by the ocean - great views from those holes! Fun course to play!
Mike’s review
Great golf course! Big greens. Course is in excellent shape. Awesome views of ocean on several holes!
Golfing in 40+ miles per hour winds, not fun
Actually too windy to play, winds not my ball off of the tee numerous times, not to mention almost blowing me over a few times.
Would play with winds like that again.

North Course
I have played the course before and the vistas and the layout are fantastic. Greens were a bit slow but given it is Hawaii and the wind was up they did have them rolling slower.
Several holes had a lot of damage on the fairways - some in key landing areas. Some areas were not GUR which seemed odd as the ball was unplayable and no stance possible.
What surprises me is for $300 the little service you get. For example - no one met me to take clubs from car, no confirmation of time, no set-up on cart (I did it), no one at range, etc. The Pro Shop person seemed to be almost angry when checking in. I felt bad I was about to golf there. This is a Troon Club! Overall very poor service other than the nice attendant at end who cleaned my clubs. Need to be better - will not return with that service.
Great fairway conditions!
I enjoyed games with my family and we got a fantastic experience. Great!
Target Golf
Beautiful Course! I am not a huge fan of target golf, but the course was so pretty and in such nice condition, that it's hard to complain. Personally, I just find it much more difficult the 1st time you play it. However, if you were going play it a couple of times it would be a blast!!!
Maura Lani Ol’ Regulars
$600 for 2 players. No pre- or post- service. No beautiful breakfasts or lunches. We have coming here for 30+ yrs. Our last was far from memorable.
Fantastic day!!!
A beautiful course, friendly staff, and stunning ocean views! Steer clear of the lava and you'll have a great day!!!
One of the Best
South Course at Mauna Lani never disappoints! We played in a 20 MPH breeze and followed two foursomes (we were two) and still played in 4 hours. Greens were rolling true and a little on the quick side compared to other courses, which was very nice.
The staff here is one of the best anywhere and always friendly and welcoming.
The pro shop is one of the best as well, with a lot of nice apparel and accessories, for both men and women. They do get “resort prices” for everything so you will pay a bit of a premium for all things (food, drinks, apparel, etc) but great offerings.
This is one of my favorite places to golf…anywhere. The North course is great too, but I think with the great views (ocean, lava, floral) and playability of the course, the South can’t be beat!
Mauna Lani South
I'd put this in the top 3 courses I've ever played, and it might be at the top. I played the blue tees (71.4/125) on a Monday morning under blue skies with just a hint of wind. The pro shop was well stocked and the employees were friendly with lots of advice about the round. While the practice areas were what you'd expect for the price tag, I especially appreciated the employee who waited until I'd hit 20-30 practice chips and cleared all the balls from the practice green once I'd moved on to the first tee - great service!
Simply put, the course is unbelievable. Even though there are maybe "only" 6-7 holes that play at or along the ocean, the course conditions are unrivaled. You'd be hard-pressed to find a piece of grass out of place. The bunkers are perfectly kept, and the greens roll as true as any I've seen. On the whole, the layout is pretty flat and forgiving off the tee - perfect for resort golf. The only real trouble is the lava rock hazards lining the course, which will definitely spell death for your ball if it finds one, but it's so uniquely visually striking it almost doesn't matter.
Holes 6 and 7 and give you brief taste of ocean before heading inland until hole 12, when the course crescendos to the climax at the famous hole 15. It's par 3 requiring a full carry over water - the closest us mere mortals will ever come to playing Cypress Point. Regardless of the set of tees you play, it's worth going to the back tee and taking a picture/hitting a couple shots/wondering if there's a prettier golf hole in the world. The concluding holes play away from the ocean back toward the clubhouse, but they're a satisfying conclusion to an incredible round. Anyone can play here and have a perfect day; from beginning to end, it's an unforgettable experience.
Great warm up or beginner play!
This place was awesome. My partner and I are novice golfers and it was a perfect place to work on our mid and short game. You can rent clubs as well. Try for the early morning or late afternoon time slots. The heat really picks up! Beautiful setting!
Warm up
Work out 5 hour plane arrival on 9 hole chipping course using 7, 9 irons and putter. Tricky greens, good for accuracy beforehand on 18 holes. Fun and quick.

Beautiful course!
This course is probably the most beautiful course I have ever played at! It’s expensive ($250/player) but I would love to come back🏌️♂️🏌️♀️!
Well maintained and you won’t be disappointed⛳️👍!
