First Time visiting from Massachusetts
My first time playing golf on the Big Island. Played Waikoloa Kings and Beach nines and enjoyed the layout and overall course. There was a refreshment cart on the course during play. Good value for the money. Greens were a bit slow as compared to Hapuna and Mauna Kea. Food at the bar was excellent and order a Mulligan for $10.00 (a shot and beer). Would play again but found conditions and course challenge at the other two courses more exciting.
Great course
Played by myself at 10:00 in 3:15 hrs. Certainly pace of play affected by number of people on course. Overall course conditions were great with friendly and helpful staff. Moderately challenging as wind can come into play at times. Favorite course I have played on Big Island. Wish wasn’t 50 minutes Kailua-Kona. Highly recommend.
Nice layout
Loved this course. Great condition and moderately challenging with good size fairways. Can get windy. Staff friendly as again played by myself. Played at 10 by myself and really no traffic until 14th hole. Favorite course so far wish didn’t have to drive 50 minutes. Restaurant looked busy although did not try. Water stations every 3 holes.
Played King/Lakes combo. Can not use SkyCaddie to get distances. Very frustrating.
Greens need some work
Overall, we like the tough layout. Beautiful setting and good pace of play. It is a bit pricey for the condition it is in. Greens are uneven and inconsistent. Fairways are in good shape. Roughs are, well, rough.
Continuing its slow decline - too bad
I've been playing the Beach and Kings courses for 25+ years, and while I really love the layout, it's sad to see these two fine courses in such poor shape. This has nothing to do with the pandemic, it's been declining years before that. Fairways are spotty and dry, greens are super slow and irregular, sand traps are thin with lots of lava chunks that will ruin your wedge, cart path asphalt buckling, carts are worn, no GPS,...I could go on, but let's just say this is a wonderful Hawaii resort course with muni-like conditions. The grounds crew, starter, and cart staff are super-friendly, the pro-shop is well stocked but the staff are rude and disinterested to their customers. They shut down 9 holes of the Kings course after covid so it's now a 27 hole layout that could be fun IF they ever get the conditions back to what it used to be...I keep hoping but suggest avoiding until it improves when you have Hapuna, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Lani near by that are FAR superior to Waikoloa and in the same/similar price range (hawaii rates).
Enjoyed the course and staff
Interesting layout, really good condition, some challenging holes especially with the winds. Staff was very friendly and helpful, when i had misplaced my rangefinder they helped me look until found.
Played in 4 hours which was great, would definitely play again…waikoloa
Beautiful
Ocean view, lava rough, tunnel under a parkway, and a challenging layout all make a unique and fun golfing experience.
Happy vacation golf
Beach Golf delivers good golf entertainment. Good times!
Great day
Very good fairway and green conditions. Challenging layout
