Nice day but windy
Played three times in two weeks, and had a good weather day each time. The last round was pretty windy at around a steady 20 MPH with gusts to 30.
Don't underestimate the distance on the par 3 over the ravine, it will eat a lot of balls! The turkeys and Ne'Nes are fun to watch.
Will be back again next year!
Good course up the hill
ocean views
Four sets of tee boxes
Bathrooms hole 4,10 clubhouse
Electric golf carts
Water on hole 3 and 18
Overpriced resort course
My wife and I were expecting more for our money. Course was in reasonable shape. Wide fairways, decent greens. But we felt like we were playing in a retirement village. I can't say the course is poor, just that it did not awe us and we expected more. Never saw cart lady and can't say the staff were very friendly. You won't lose any balls.
Perfect day for golf
Waikoloa Village is a nice track offering some interesting holes, good views and challenging greens. Don't go to far off the fairway, the rough is penal. Bunkers are unique, small pebbles, I think by design as regular sand would get blown out because of frequent winds. Our day was virtually windless, the course was for the taking!! Unfortunately the bunkers played a major roll on the front nine and spoiled the score. The back nine was a little kinder and ensured a return visit. Well worth the cost.
No a'a here!
Mostl courses on the Big Island challenge wayward shots with that black lava, a'a. None up here. That makesfor a more friendly track for the average duffer. It is more of a park- like setting with lots of shade trees. Watch out when the wind comes up as it can be fierce.
Fun beautiful course
Will definitely return beautiful course great staff we had a great match up with another couple
Not bad for the price
Biggest complaint is the use of crushed coral in the bunkers. The greens are covered with pebbles of crushed coral taking a lot of time to clean a path or bumper putt hoping for the right kick.
Beautiful views and great wildlife
Loved the course and great staff the fairways are in great shape, even the rough is well kept
good value
This is a very playable course. Greens decent, fairways a little long, so not much roll. Make sure you play the correct tees.
Excellent golf course for the money- Plays at its best when there is little wind.
Aloha
Great value
Good views, fair course with good course conditions. Great value for visitors to the Big Island
Playable course
This course is a very playable course for every level of golfer. Long enough to be a challenge for better golfers, and fairways accessible to most other players. Recommend this course for a great value.
Good value
Like this club good value . Really friendly staff. Like the course a lot not too hard but lots of challenges for an average golfer
Very impressive, fantastic setting.
I booked this course by chance and was extremely happy that I did so. The staff was right there to help with the clubs and offered tips on how to play certain holes. We didn't eat there, so I couldn't comment on the food.
Very Nice
Greens were a bit slow, rough was high enough to lose a few balls and sand traps had fine peastone for sand, not good for club head finish.
Good value
Better to play here than to spend twice as much on the beach!
Fun Course to play
Had a good time. Hillier than I remembered it. Greens tough to read, lots of subtle breaks, some grain. Wild Turkeys all over the place. Strange bunkers-small light gravel but play like sand. Food service in restaurant was very poor. Plan to eat elsewhere after round. Tried to play on a different day but Golf Now screwed up my reservation and wouldn't refund my pre-payment. Not the course's fault.
Less expensive choice
I was able to book a round with club rental and cart for less than $110, this is a good rate for Big Island. I enjoyed the course so much I paid $38 to replay with same equipment. Although I could not finish the second round it was a good deal for me. Wish I did not have to stop playing because there was still another 15 minutes of daylight left on the 5th of January so they can put the gears away.
Big Island Golf
Course was in good shape, not too difficult. Sand traps are misleading as they are small coral pebbles not sand. Overall, great time!
A Hawaiian Experience
Been to Hawaii twice. On my 2nd trip I was going to play Hawaii. It's always worth the money to play some place like Hawaii. Great experience. My son and I were teamed up with one other gentleman but he was pretty cool as he just wanted to come out and play non competitively. Playing later in the afternoon opened up more space and then of course less heat. Was a much fun. But always a challenge when you have never played the course. The scenery is beautiful but of course it's Hawaii.
Great atmosphere
We loved the course and more importantly the people.
