Aloha, now feed me! Photo submitted by golfsilverock on 01/17/2013
A shame that it was impossible to putt
The course overall was in great shape, and the weather was great. Pace of play was good because the course was not highly booked. Probably because the greens had been heavily aerated a few days ago, and the greens were so pockmarked and sandy that they were unputtable. A shame, because these greens can be very tri my.
Rating for golf now
We have played Hapuna many times when on the big island. We love the course. This rating is actually for golf now. We got to the course and they let us know that the greens were plugged the day before. It was like putting thru a sand trap. Very disappointed. Golf now should have known and notified us upon booking. We paid $130 each.
Greens
We weren’t informed the greens were just aerated until we arrived. They were 85% covered by sand and putting was terrible. We should not have had to pay full price, vacation time is expensive enough and north of $300 seemed too high. The staff was friendly and my rental clubs were nice.
Hapuna nice course
We have played Hapuna many times.
Tough golf course.
Be careful of wind
Fun and lots of room to play
Very enjoyable course lots of room to experiment and improve your game with great ocean views
Great time!!!!!!!!!!!!
First time in Hawaii and wanted to play 2 great courses. Booked same day for 11:00 tee time. Course in great shape and greens are fabulous. Staff said the greens going to be punched next week. Great time, great pace, great course.
Awesome Course
A golf course in great shape with wonderful views from every hole
The fairways were to bad, we had to tee the ball up to get off the hardpan
Not As Good As Before
This course has been one of our "go to" visits on the Big Island, having played it 5 or six times now. This time the course was in good shape, but the cart paths have become rather sketchy, with crumbling asphalt in too many areas. The carts were also shabby looking as far a age, and the two in our group could have used a better cleaning. The couple we played with had been there with us before and they noticed the same things.
Hapuna used to give the impression that you are playing a top notch facility. The price seemed commensurate with the product. This time it felt like you were paying too much for the experience received. We probably won't book this course in the near future.
