Westin Hapuna Beach Resort (Hawaii Island)

We had a wonderful day at Hapuna. The course was in great shape with beautiful fairways and very nice greens. The greens are fast and in excellent condition which is the way we like them. Some had trouble with them but I thought they were difficult but fair. Would like to play again.

Pace is great, nobody is in front of us. We really enjoyed to play at here.

Greens were good. Fairways / rough could use some care and more water. Things seemed very dry, although might be drought related.

My wife and I played and encountered the course was constantly backing up and there was a wait time between tee shots. Highly recommend that the course hire a course marshal to keep the pace of play on a timely basis.

Overall very impressed with the course.

Be ready for some great greens, elevation changes, blind shots and great views. Greens were very smooth and rolled very easy. Grounds keeper said they roll the greens three times a week and cut every day. Elevation changes make you consider almost every shot. Was windy so also had to adjust clubs for that. Best course I played while in Hawaii. An ice cold towel to refresh at the end of the round was a great touch and welcome as the day was warm.

Our favorite on the Big Island. Can see the ocean from Every hole. A must to golf on Big Island.

The greens were rolling great. Fairways were nice, nice overcast day and very little wind today. The staff was very welcoming. I used to play this course a lot when I was a resident of the big island. The course was in the best condition I have ever seen in the many times I have played it. This course is a great value and a good challenge from the tips. I recommend it with great enthusiasm.

My wife and I were sent off as a twosome but do to slow play ahead we hooked up with the twosome behind us on hole 6 who were beginners and hitting off the wrong set of tees plus always looking for lost balls. They were nice and we enjoyed the round. The goat family greeting us at a few holes was interesting and a good photo op.

Play it again!!

This is a good test of hitting a straight ball. Some fairways require straight shots. Other fairways are wide and forgiving. Due to distances between holes it takes about 4-1/2 hours. Overall good value for Hawaii.

My concerns were that the restaurant was permanently closed and the pictures online led me to believe that there were holes on the ocean. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The views of the ocean were spectacular, however, don't play it if you are looking for shots over the pacific.
