Not going back …
Paying premium price for a place that doesn’t seem to care about the course is a disgrace! There was zero sand in any trap that I was in or near. If you don’t want to maintain them, get rid of them and make them grass or put synthetic sand in (much easier to maintain). I will not be going back anytime soon, there are so many better courses to play for the cost of this one.
Resort course with no sand???
I have played this course many times over the years, but never have I seen the bunkers with literally no sand. Weeds and grass growing in them. Very sad to see since I have always enjoyed this course. Definitely not worth $80.00 right now.
What happened
Tees are tilted. Sand traps have no sand. Very disappointing. Used to be a good course. Holes are a bit close together. Ranger allowed a hole and a half gap between groups that held up all playing after that gap by a half hour at least.
Beat up
We used to love playing this course but the couple times we’ve been back it’s been very beat up. Tee boxes could really use some work
Good condition but Fix the bunkers
Course is in good shape. Bunkers are absolute garbage. Hard as a rock no matter fairway or green side and is like that every hole. Shouldn’t be hard to fix them with a similar garden machine.
Disappointed - bad experience
Our round took 5+ hours. There were way too many people on the course. The bunkers were in terrible shape.
I've played this course on a number of occasions. The condition and time of the round were terrible. This course provides a good experience when it is in good shape and it is possible to play in under 4 1/2 hours.
We waiting on EVERY shot. There was no effort to speed up play - that may have been impossible with the number of people on the course.
Fast greens
I have played Willowcrest multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed playing here.
But this round not as much because of the greens. I like greens that roll but this round the greens were beyond fast to the point it became ridiculous.
Bunkers are always dirt/mud
They just charge the same no matter the course conditions. They have refused to get people in to make the bunkers playable. It’s a playable course if you drop your ball next to bunkers and play.
Not worth the price
I've played most public courses in the area. My group and I were so disappointed with this course for the price we paid. The course has a lot of bunkers and none of them are maintained. It was like hitting off of concrete. Several of the bunkers had exposed corrigated drainage pipes. They have a restroom on the course that was locked up with a Porta John on the side. The Porta John was disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Lastly several of the tee boxes were soggy. Most courses in the area are much better for a lower price.
Fast greens
I have played Willowcrest multiple times. I love the layout and design. Staff is always friendly.
This time the greens were as fast as anywhere I have played. My playing partner called the pin placements "Sunday " basically between the super fast greens and impossible pin placements for how fast and hard the greens are...the round was frustrating.
Since we are in a drought I would suggest watering the greens more as we wait for rain.
Slow AF
First, the traps are a joke. It is well known, just grab your bell and chip from the fringe. Everyone does it…
Second, they are determined to pack as many people in the course as they can, and no joke there were three groups waiting on every tee from 4-16 . 5.5 hour round around that course is a waste of time.
Staff was great!
Bad sand
Gravel and dirt in the bunkers. Weeds around the tee boxes. Overall seems like no recent work or investment into the course. The turn is a kiosk with limited options for food. Probably worth $40 a round tops, not what they are asking. However the staff was great and fun
Course needs a little TLC
Greens were good. However, there’s no sand in any of the bunkers. The half way house was closed on a Sunday? I’ve seen better at Willow Crest.
