On green of 5th hole of Willow Crest Photo submitted by u642535502 on 09/08/2020
Great layout, fun course
Fairly challenging, some forgiving holes, some well protected, especially the par 3's. Played in March when everything was still yellow and spongy, mowing has not taken place yet and greens are still recovering...but still a fun round. Walking took quite awhile and it took a good 5+ hours, but that's to be expected when everyone's on foot. Will definitely be back.
Policy change
On a very cold gloomy day and with rain the last 3 days, the course was in very decent condition.
We (2) had a 1pm tee time. As usual we liked to go an hour earlier to the driving range. However they don’t have one but instead a couple driving nets to practice. The starter was very friendly and we were joking around. After hitting some balls we thought we would go ahead to tee off since it was not busy and nobody was on the tee box and the group in front was on to the 2nd hole.
To my surprise the starter chased us down and reminded us that our tee time was 1pm so we had to wait until that time. He did tell us earlier that we would start at 1pm. We thought he was joking since we had been joking around. But no, we found out the hard way that he was not.
The course was pretty open and there was no reason to stick with the booked tee time and there was nobody waiting behind us to tee off.
To his credit he let a single player go ahead of us even we were ready to tee off at exactly 1pm. Not sure if his tee time was earlier or the starter felt that he would not hold us up so there was some flexibility on the starter part.
Most of the courses do allow players to go ahead of their tee time if it’s not busy.
It was still a good day as the sun was shining just a couple hours later.
Golfers Delight
Grabbed the opportunity to play Willow Crest again at a very affordable GolfNow “hot deal” price. Newly aerated but with minimal effect on the roll of the green. Played the course on 2 consecutive days while the cost to play is cheap and the fall weather still at best. Nothing to complain about the friendly staff as their friendly demeanor has always been that way. I bring along my golfing buddies as many as the available cheap GolfNow “hot deals” can accommodate. It’s always fun to play at Willow Crest Golf Resort.
We were only permitted to play the back nine and twice because the front nine was closed. Should have been notified of this
A Golf Gem
The course is an excellent design, well maintained and a hidden gem. A really good value with friendly service/staff.
Willow Crest
1. It was a wet and rainy day with cart path only restrictions.
2. The sand traps were mud holes.
3. The cart paths were full of pot holes and very much in need of repair.
Willis Crest, great cource
Now been playing this cource several times, dough it was first time for my companion, whom is a single hcp.
We both think this is a nice cours, well worth the 45min ride from our Chicago office. Thx Staff for your service mindedness.

Well kept course but terrible pace
Get a ranger, no reason this course should take 5 hours to play.
Great round
I was very excited to get out and play Willowcrest again. I haven’t played there since I was on the highschool golf team so it brought back some great memories. Course was in outstanding condition
